23.01.2022 Our Shoalhaven Allied Health Network Meetings will temporarily called " Coffee in Your Parked Car or House" Meetings so we can still help each other each week and at the same time remain isolated in your car or home office for a Zoom Meeting. On March 27 , 2020 , we held our first network meeting via Zoom so as we could check in on each other as Allied Health workers and also discuss how we could assist our clients/ patients with home based telehealth services. The Zoom code ...is sent to registered participants the evening prior to our meeting. We will be holding an Allied Health Network Meeting from 8am to 9am each Friday now until this crisis has passed. The purpose of these meetings is to provide support to each other, whilst also sharing ideas on how we can assist our patients via telehealth and access to other services. We can now also include guest speakers from all over Australia and also invite Allied Health workers around Australia who may feel the need to touch base with other Allied Health workers. Our network is very passionate about looking after other Allied Health workers and helping others with compassion fatigue. Please feel free to register if you are a health worker who may just need to touch base with us online. You can register via the link or email Brodie on [email protected] if you would like to know more about our meetings prior to registering or if you have a special topic you would like to present as a guest speaker. One of the positives of the current situation is that we can now speak from our home offices with people from all over Australia, and even the world. Looking forward to seeing you online each Friday Regards Brodie Cambourne Exercise Physiologist

15.01.2022 Are you a practice nurse completing team care plans for Diabetes patients ? Our Shoalhaven Allied Health network meeting discussed some of the best methods for ...referring diabetes patients to healthy lifestyle programs at our Diabetes Case Study. One of the ideas we discussed was using EPC visits to access Allied health professionals such as Diabetes Educators, dietitians, optometrists and podiatrists and then utilising Diabetes group service visits to access exercise physiologists. Diabetes NSW also provides funding for patients to access Beat It Exercise Programs which provides patients with another 8 week exercise program. Medicine in Motion Exercise Physiology offers Beat It programs in various regions around the Shoalhaven

12.01.2022 The PTSD conference has been emotional but hopeful. I am sharing some new resources for those allied health who may work with people, in particular policemen and women for you to pass on to your networks. Part of my coming to this conference is to share the effects of vicarious trauma on front line health workers to the discussion groups here over the next few days.... Vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue is one of the primary symptoms that can lead to PTSD .... health workers like all of us are also hearing, seeing and witnessing very sad stories each day. All of us working in health need to keep an eye on each other too and check in on our own health status . I hope the information from this conference I share may assist your patients, who may be emergency workers, police, ADF and health workers. Regards Brodie https://pfa.org.au/member-wellbeing/

08.01.2022 From www.ProQOL.org Compassion Fatigue Compassion fatigue is the negative aspect of our work as helpers. There are two parts. The first part concerns things suc...h as exhaustion, frustration, anger and depression typical of burnout. Secondary Traumatic Stress is a negative feeling driven by fear and work-related trauma. It is important to remember that some trauma at work can be direct (primary) trauma. In other cases, work-related trauma be a combination of both primary and secondary trauma. Compassion fatigue is the negative aspect of helping those who experience traumatic stress and suffering. Compassion Satisfaction is the positive aspect of helping. See more

A good supportive system can assist with preventing health professional burnout. 3.
