25.01.2022 In some great news for Lure Coursing and Dogs Sports in general, the BLCC lure coursing training sessions on August 23 have been approved under the new stricter guidelines. Entries are still capped at 35 per session and are live now on Showmanager, these wont last long. And in some more breaking news after some more testing on the weekend our new contactless online check-in, cataloging and judges scoring system will be trialed on that weekend. We are very proud of this break... through and are working hard to deliver the best lure coursing experience for your dogs. Lure coursing .......do it for your dog..

We are also blessed with a Membership comprising of some of the most experienced and dedicated lure coursing supporters, Judges, and competitors. We look forward to bringing 6 sanctioned lure coursing trials in 2021(DQ pending) and some fun runs and training days for our Members. We are working closely with exi...sting clubs to provide workers and reliable equipment for exciting double header weekends planned for 2021. The BLCC will aim to deliver the best bespoke lure coursing experience for you and your dogs. "News" very soon for Members wishing to be involved in learning Field positions and being part of the growing BLCC Team. The BLCC would also like to acknowledge Dogs Qld for their support of our new club and the great work they are doing with the lure coursing field at Durack. See you on the field in 2021 #doitforyourdog #brisbanelurecoursingclub

25.01.2022 In an effort to maintain transparency, the club has made another phone call at 11:30am to the Qld Govt Covid advice line and we have been informed that the information on the latest restrictions has been refined, since 9:00am when we first called. As an incorporated body affiliated with Dogs Qld we fall into the category of a business. And as a business with an approved plan we could go ahead with our training sessions. The club acted in good faith with the information they g...ave us at 9am when we had no choice, we cancelled. With restrictions changing so rapidly and the extent of this outbreak unknown at this stage we respectfully ask Members and entrants to appreciate our role and our duty of care to the health and well being of our entrants. We believe it is the socially responsible thing to standby that initial decision. We hope to reschedule this event as soon as possible, once more information is known. We would like to acknowledge and thank Dogs Qld for their support and guidance, the Council for the field we have and most of all our entrants and supporters, thank you and well see you on the field very soon. 24.01.2022 The Brisbane Lure Coursing Club has submitted and had approved Covid-19 guidelines for holding a lure coursing training day. This will be held towards the end of July when restrictions for staging dog sport events ease to allow us to do this. The health and safety of our entrants, officials and dogs is our main concern and we hope these guidelines and the conduct of our club and our Members and the support of Dogs Qld, allow us to start doing our dog sport activities again Attached is our Covid-19 guidelines, training days will not look the same as last year for some time, so capped numbers and staggered starts is a way to ease back into it. Stay safe and remember..Lure coursing..do it for your dog.

18.01.2022 The rain has been patchy. We spent nearly 2 hours at the field this afternoon setting a few things up, here is a picture from about 2:30pm. Its hard to cancel when it is like this. The field is dry and we will see how we go tomorrow.

18.01.2022 MEET RAINE Raine’s first trial taught her to do what she was born to do - switch off and chase. Everyone can hear Raine’s toller scream as she makes her way to the start line and then her squeal of excitement when the Huntmaster says Tally-ho. Raine has earned her CAX Title and at nearly 11 years old, she still enjoys an occasional run. #blcc #brisbanelurecoursingclub #doitforyourdog

17.01.2022 While our leaders are plotting a roadmap to get us out of this crisis, here is a video of what we are about. This is the European Lure Coursing Championships, the scores are there, so you can have a go at picking a winner. It is judged out of 500, with 5 judges scoring the dogs run. Each judge scores only a certain section of the course, submits a mark out of 100 and the 5 are added together. Enjoy the Whippets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzlpN_ZYRKs&t=885s

16.01.2022 The Brisbane Lure Coursing Club would like to welcome all our new Members. We look forward to providing a competitive, fun lure coursing experience for you and your dogs in 2021. Your welcome pack of a stylish BLCC cap and Team BLCC sticker will be handed over at your next fun run or lure coursing trial. Thanks for joining the BLCC Team #lurecoursing; #doitforyourdog

16.01.2022 An inspection of the lure coursing field will happen this afternoon. Usually rain on a lure coursing field improves traction and grip for dogs as the surface softens and allows their paws and nails to grip better. Heavy rain and puddles lingering on the field does not help at all and makes it uncomfortable for workers, lure drivers, owners and dogs. So a decision will be made this afternoon to postpone or go ahead with the training sessions. At all times safety of the dogs and people is our foremost concern.

16.01.2022 BLCC Training Sessions #DoItForYourDog #brisbanelurecoursingclub #BLCC

16.01.2022 The club is looking forward to the training sessions this weekend, a run sheet will be made available in a few days time. The July sessions are fully booked out, but the August training sessions will go live next week. In some great news the club was donated a covered trailer, so all our gear is now secure and fully mobile. What colours would work well on a dog sport trailer like this?

15.01.2022 Thank you very much for your support, both training sessions are now full. There is another session planned for September 13. Lure Coursing......do it for your dog.

14.01.2022 We are waiting on final approval from Dogs Qld, we have re-applied for a training session to be held on Sunday 13 September. Entries from our cancelled session in August can be transferred straight across. There may be some spare spots available in these sessions once we work out attendance and refunds.

13.01.2022 As an update, we are hoping to transfer the cancelled training sessions from last weekend to another date. Entrants from last weekend will be offered entries to this new date, once it has been secured or a full refund, if that is their preference. As soon as we know we will inform you here first. Lets hope things keep improving. Stay well, stay safe.

13.01.2022 The first Lure Coursing Training Day for 2020 is being hosted by the Brisbane Lure Coursing Club Inc.(BLCC) at a new venue for lure coursing, the Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian Club. There will be judges awarding scores and prizes for the highest scores on the day, all breeds welcome. Training runs and Novice runs at the end of competition. Please note dogs must be at least 15 months old to compete in the judged runs. This event is similar to an Open Show, no points towards title...s, just scores for your dog and a whole lot of fun. Memberships for the BLCC are live on Showmanager, as well as entries for this event. Lure Coursing...do it for your dog.

12.01.2022 HELP NEEDED - WE NEED A TEMPORARY LURE COURSING FIELD FOR 2020 Due to the extensive repairs and stabilisation earth works to the Lure Coursing Field at Durack, six clubs that had 20 coursing dates lined up for Durack in 2020 are in need of new a field/fields for 2020.... Club officials have been contacting schools, sporting clubs, show societies and councils for replacement fields. This has been a tough job and has not yielded any firm new alternatives. We are hoping that the answer may be with one of our dog community Members or friends. A private field, that could be used for lure coursing. We need between 5- 7 acres of land. Fenced, preferably and stock fencing is acceptable. Reasonably flat, undulations are OK. Grass shortish so little dogs dont disappear. Southside, Northside, Westside and Eastside of Brisbane, we are happy to travel. Between 45 and 75 dogs turn up at a trial, the coursing season starts in April and finishes in October. Trials start at about 8:00am and are finished by 1:00pm. Dogs are kept crated until it is their turn. They chase plastic bags, tied to a string, pulled around the field by a small electric motor, there is no damage or impact to the field. If you have a field, or know of a field, or have a friend that might have a field, please ask them if they would like to let some happy hounds have the time of their lives on this patch of paradise. As mentioned we have already asked a lot of places, so if you could ask for us and see if there is a possibility, then MESSAGE THIS PAGE with the details of the person to talk to, all potential leads will be followed up. #doitforyourdog #lurecoursing #blcc #brisbanelurecoursingclub

08.01.2022 WE HAVE ONE JOB TO DO THIS ANZAC DAY So many brave men, women & animals sacrificed their lives so that we can enjoy the freedom we have in this beautiful country. In exchange for their sacrifice, we are asked to do just one thing... set our alarm for 5.30am tomorrow, make your way to the end of your driveway and share a minutes silence at 6am with your neighbours. . #ANZAC2020 #lestweforget

08.01.2022 Unfortunately due to the lockdown in effect from 8am this morning we will have to cancel our training sessions. I have rung Qld Health and even though we have an approved Covid-19 plan, because we are in that Council area the limit is 10 people at any outdoor gathering. We have another approved training day September 13, fingers crossed this goes ahead.

08.01.2022 WOW, lure coursing is back for DogsQld. Our first training sessions went very smoothly. The field was in magnificent condition and the weather was perfect, a very slight mizzle at about 11:00am lasted for about 3 minutes but wasnt enough to even slow proceedings or dampen anyones spirits. The trailer, lure coursing machine and generator all performed flawlessly.... We had some new faces on different positions on the field and it was a friendly supportive day for the new dogs and a great return to coursing for our seasoned competitors. The field is huge and the options for course design are many. There was not a slip, trip, stumble or fall on the field. Thank you to everyone that supported with entries and we are all looking forward to hosting some more training sessions in August.

07.01.2022 Thanks to Rapid Dog Photography for these beautiful images from our training sessions on Sunday 13th September. #DoItForYourDog #BLCC #brisbanelurecoursingclub

03.01.2022 Lure coursing in Qld lost a canine legend last night. Badger the U.S. imported whippet, had a successful lure coursing career in the States and then continued that success here. He qualified nearly every sighthound to compete in Open stakes in the early days of our sport and his love for coursing and his perpetual screaming to run again will be remembered fondly by all that knew him. Our thoughts go out to Leah and family and all those that loved him. Run free Badger.

03.01.2022 Postponed training sessions from a couple of weeks ago, are back on next Sunday 13 September. Contact us if you are not available. An updated runsheet will be forwarded this week.

01.01.2022 Please contact us at this page if youd like to give your dog a run in 2021! #doitforyourdog
