20.01.2022 Meet Petrice McCord. #IWD2020 #WomenofMarriott Petrice is our Front Office Manager. Petrice studied a Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management at the University of Queensland, majoring in Hotel and Event Management. In her final semester of Uni, Petrice started her first job in a hotel in a luxury resort in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales while studying remotely. She joined the Marriott family in 2014 as part of the preopening team for the Four Points by... Sheraton where she was a Guest Service Agent on the reception desk. Within a year, at 25 years of age, she was promoted to Front Office Supervisor. Her dedication and expertise enabled her to travel to Bangkok where she participated in a development program for three months before returning to Brisbane as a Guest Relations Manager and soon after, an Assistant Front Office Manager at the Four Points. Not only has Petrice participated in overseas development programs, but she has also been selected and sent on Task Force missions to assist other hotels in preparation for their openings including the Westin properties in both Perth and Brisbane. Petrice joined the Brisbane Marriott team early last year as the Front Office Manager at just 29 years of age. She is passionate about her position and enjoys creating personal connections with our guests particularly listening to and exchanging travel experiences and stories! Petrice enters the hotel everyday with excitement of what the day could bring not one day is ever the same in hospitality! Her progression within the Marriott brand is inspirational and she finds it so rewarding seeing others within her team progress and further their careers. With all the new Marriott hotels opening around Australia, Petrice is excited to welcome the opportunities these new properties will bring for not only her, but her team as well!

03.01.2022 This week, well be introducing you to different women from our team and sharing the stories that have lead them to our Marriott family! #IWD2020 #WomenofMarriott Meet Emma Potter. Emma is our Director of Sales and Marketing. She was the first of her family members to go to university, undertaking a Double Degree in Business Marketing and Arts at the Australian Catholic University. After completing University, at the age of 22, Emma began her career in hospitality as a Mark...eting Assistant at a local Bistro and Pool Hall. From there, Emma worked her way up the corporate ladder and started working as a Business Development Manager at another prominent 5-star hotel in Brisbane. After just under a year working in this role, Emma was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was only 29 years old. Fortunately, after nine long months of chemotherapy and treatments, Emma was declared cancer free and she has been ever since. Emma hasnt only overcome hardships in her life with regards to her health; she never backs down from a challenge. At 33, she received her first Executive role as a Director of Sales and Marketing for not one but a cluster of three different hotels! Since then, she has successfully led multiple Sales and Marketing teams across Brisbane and co-founded the Brisbane Event Professionals networking group. Many of her colleagues, both women and men alike, consider Emma both an inspiration and a mentor; her commitment to her staff is unbreakable and her ability to motivate others is just as contagious as her laugh. 02.01.2022 Meet Sarah Miller. #IWD2020 #WomenofMarriott Sarah is the Director of Human Resources at the Brisbane Marriott. When Sarah was just 16 years old, she dreamt of working in five-star hotels as a receptionist. Determined to achieve her goal, Sarah worked multiple internships in hotels before really getting her foot in the door, working in a hotel in the housekeeping department. After being knocked back several times from her dream role, with the support of her manager, Sarah fin...ally got a job as a full-time receptionist in the largest hotel in Brisbane! At 18, Sarah moved to Alice Springs where she became an Assistant Front Office Manager, making her the youngest manager her employer had ever had and by 19 she was made the Front Office Manager. Her journey took her to Airlie Beach, where she was a part-owner and manager of a prominent night club before her passion for hotels called her back home to Brisbane. Sarah has not only worked in housekeeping and reception in hotels, she also worked as a Revenue Manager and Business Development Manager and has lead teams across Queensland, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu! Sarahs diverse and exciting career helped her realize that her passion wasnt just for hotels, but also for people. At the Brisbane Marriott, Sarah started off as a Business Development Manager but before too long her true passion for people and creating a people first culture led her to explore an opportunity in the Human Resources Department as a HR Officer. During this time Sarah fulfilled another personal dream when she gave birth to her Daughter. When Sarah came back from Maternity Leave, the opportunities just kept on growing at Brisbane Marriott! She became HR Manager and within 7 months was promoted to HR Director. Sarah loves to be able to support people both personally and professionally; her passion for people is undeniable and she is every staff members number one advocate! Sarah believes that people need to take opportunities and just go for it! even when they are fearful of failure. After all, she wouldnt be where she is now helping others achieve their dreams if she hadnt had the confidence and courage to do the same!

01.01.2022 Meet Julie-Ann Watt. #IWD2020 #WomenofMarriott Julie-Ann, or Jules as shes known in the office, is the Associate Director of Sales at the Brisbane Marriott. When she first started working in hotels, Jules was a waitress, followed by being a receptionist at another 5-star hotel in Brisbane. After five years at that hotel, Jules moved to London where she was a Duty Manager at the age of 22. One year later, Jules came home and thought about leaving the hotel industry, lucky for... us she didnt! Jules started her career in hotel sales at the young age of 25 where she was a Sales Coordinator. Here, she worked closely with the Global Sales team of the company she was employed by who became mentors to her. Soon after, she got a job as a Sales Executive for a different hotel chain where she spent three years before moving into a role as a Sales Manager in another. Following this, Jules spent 8 years at a hotel on the Sunshine Coast where she was the Sales Manager of Queensland before finally joining the team at the Brisbane Marriott. With Marriott, Julie-Ann has worked at both the Brisbane and Surfers Paradise properties in several different roles including Director of Sales and Sales Manager. Up until recently, Jules worked part time and juggled both her career and raising two young daughters. Two years ago, Jules returned to full time work and was quickly promoted to Associate Director of Sales at the Brisbane Marriott. Jules loves what she does, and her colleagues and clients can absolutely tell. Over the last 20 years of her career, Jules has established many treasured relationships with her clients, many who have shared her lifetime experiences with her such as promotions, her wedding and the birth of her children. Selling 5-star hotels is her passion and building relationships is her talent. Jules cant wait to see what the future holds for her career once her kids are finished school and Jules we cant either!
