25.01.2022 Packing day update

25.01.2022 1760 Period Packs containing 3520 pairs of new underwear all made up and sent out in ONE DAY! A huge thank you to everyone who came along and helped out. These packs have already been delivered to Foodbank Queensland ready for distribution. Tomorrow we do it all again. ... We desperately need more pairs of underwear but were fine for all other needs. Massive thank you to every single person who helped to make this happen. Were not done yet!

Whats been on my mind is the Black Lives Matter movement, the protests and the anti protests. As an Aboriginal woman I have suffered discrimination and seen my Mother, family and loved ones be reduced and treated as nothing but lesser inferior humans, animals even, because of the colour of their skin. 24.01.2022 We have a very important question we need your advice on. Soon we will be opening an Op Shop which will employ women experiencing homelessness. We have been doing this in Melbourne for a year now with great success! Our Melbourne shop is called The Kala Space and has the op shop, a meditation room, a kitchen and soon to open cafe. Pretty soon our new Op Shop will be opening in Stafford Brisbane and it will also have a juice bar and offer meditation classes. This shop, juice... bar etc will be known as Kala Q. The same name as our Melbourne store but with Q for Queensland. Now our big question to all of our amazing followers is, should we change the name of this page to Kala Q or keep it as Brisbane Period Project and open up a completely separate page for Kala Q? In Melbourne, they both have separate pages, but we're thinking to combine this page with Kala Q and change the name. All of the packing days for BPP will be happening at Kala Q and so will all of our functions and fundraisers etc So, do we keep this page as it is and start a new page, Kala Q for the Op Shop, juice bar, and meditation? Or rebrand this page as Kala Q and do everything under that name?

23.01.2022 Its true were not very happy about how the funding for the bushfire relief has been handled. Thanks to the Daily Mail for shining a light on the work were doing. A huge thank you to all of our volunteers who helped a achieve this mammoth relief effort

22.01.2022 As the parent of a child with severely impacting autism this horrifies me. Ive been shocked by many harrowing stories working in this sector but none have torn my heart apart like this has. This could be my son. But for the tooth and nail fight we have put in against all odds for his therapy and allied health care he would be this young man. This is what happens when we dont fight for the rights of those left behind. ... Im completely lost and I dont know what to do except ask you to put add your voice to this. Share this. Talk about this and for the love of all things just please be in complete utter absolute rage about this like we are. Im meeting with Samantha to fight with her to get this young man back into her care. 17.01.2022 Periods dont stop in a crisis, so we made 6040 Period Packs with 12,080 pairs of underwear and 78,520 sanitary items ... They have all been packed up and delivered to Foodbank Victoria and Foodbank Queensland Ltd and distributed to victims of the Australian Bushfires throughout Victoria Queensland ACT NSW We did this in in six days, with the help of around 170 incredible volunteers across Melbourne and Brisbane. Our work here is done for now. Foodbank are full and have closed off donations for now. In the mean time if you want to help, please head to the Foodbank websites and donate financially. They desperately need your dollars and this helps a lot more than item donations now theyre full. With financial donations they can turn $1 into $6 of retail product. Please, go donate to them. Theyre in desperate need of your support.
