24.01.2022 IN SAFE HANDS BRL A grade GRAND FINAL - West Brisbane V Wynnum Jnrs
24.01.2022 Finals Facts: Since the rebirth of the BRL in 2015 no minor premier has won the Grand Final (sorry Valleys!) - 2 have won from 2nd, 2 have won from 3rd, and 1 from 4th. Wests and Wynnum are appearing in their 6th straight finals series, Valleys in their 3rd in 6 seasons. First time in finals for Carina (3rd season), Normanby (3rd season) and Pine Rivers (1st season).... Wynnum have won their last 6 finals matches, after losing their previous 5 - overall record 7 wins and 6 losses. Wests won 3 of their first 5 finals, but have lost their last 5 - overall record 3 wins and 7 losses. Valleys have played in 6 finals winning 4 and losing 2.

22.01.2022 CallingAllSportsBrisbane In Safe Hands Cup Team of the Year. Hooker: TOM BUTTERFIELD (West Brisbane Panthers) Experienced Panther dummy half Tom Butterfield "heads-up" football won us over in a close decision over promising Seagull no.9 Harrison Graham amongst a talented host of rakes this year.

19.01.2022 CallingAllSportsBrisbane In Safe Hands Cup Team of the Year. Fullback: MATT MILSON (Wynnum Juniors). In Safe Hands Cup player of the year and Grand Final player of the match Matt Milson narrowly edged out competition top try scorer Jayden Corrigan from Valleys for the fullback position.

17.01.2022 CallingAllSportsBrisbane In Safe Hands Cup Team of the Year. Five-eighth: BRAYDEN TORPY (Carina). Brayden Torpy returned from a season in Cairns last year and was instrumental in Carina's progress to the preliminary final despite a mid year injury. Brayden edged out Valleys' Simon Brittain-Snowden who shone towards season end despite his own injury issues.
16.01.2022 CallingAllSportsBrisbane In Safe Hands Cup Team of the Year: Centres: JUNIOR PAUGA (Wynnum Juniors) and ZAC CROFT (Bulimba Valleys Bulldogs).... One of the hardest positions to decide with a myriad of choices but we finally went with Wynnum's Junior Pauga, who put on a stellar show in the Grand Final, along with elusive Bulimba youngster Zac Croft who was one of the Bulldog's best every week. The likes of Tony Tumusa (WBP). Kurt Shayler (PR), Linc Port (Car) and Rashaun Denny (Val) all featured strongly in what was a difficult final decision.
15.01.2022 Nominations are now open for vacant positions on Rugby League Brisbane Board or Directors ahead of 2020 AGM.
14.01.2022 CallingAllSportsBrisbane In Safe Hands Cup Team of the Year. Halfback: SCOTT PRINCE (Valleys) The referees had trouble separating veteran Scott Prince, Wynnum's youngster Max Plath and Brighton's boxer Cameron Cullen with 1 point separating them in POTY points. So did we, eventually settling on the comp's top point scorer Scott Prince at halfback.

12.01.2022 Valleys Diehards are Minor Premiers and join Wynnum Manly Juniors BRL A Grade for a week off leaving two Elimination Finals. Tips and by how much. Who knows....
11.01.2022 CallingAllSportsBrisbane In Safe Hands Cup Team of the Year: Second Rowers: KELEPI FAUKAFA (Wynnum Juniors) and MICHAEL O'KEEFE (Brighton Roosters). Another tough one to pick but we eventually settled on the power and finesse of Wynnum's Kelepi Faukafa, along with the hardworking Brighton skipper Michael O'Keefe, just ahead of Carina's tearaway Jarred Tuite and the Panthers rangy James Flack, both of whom were sorely missed in their team's final games through injury.
11.01.2022 CallingAllSportsBrisbane In Safe Hands Cup Team of the Year. Lock: JACK SVENDSEN (Carina) It was a quality field including the likes of Luke Bateman, Sam Burns, Cruise Ten and Liam Horne but our unanimous choice for lock was Jack Svendsen - not sure if Jack was going for Origin or a Broncos contract but apparently Kevvie couldn't believe his eyes as he got the match-sealer against the Panthers - well done the Swedish backpacker...

07.01.2022 In the Chairman's Challenge there are normally 2 teams entered from Brisbane, and given the interest in the CallingAllSportsBrisbane team of the year, here is what our 2nd 17 would look like - we reckon a match between the two teams would be a ripper!!! 1. 07.01.2022 CallingAllSportsBrisbane In Safe Hands Cup Team of the Year. Interchange: JACK MIERS (Valleys), JAMES FLACK (West Brisbane Panthers), DYLAN MINETTO (Pine Rivers Bears) and LUKE BATEMAN (Wynnum Juniors). Jack Miers covered both hooker and 5/8 for Valleys this year and was always dangerous. James Flack was always a danger on the right for the Panthers in both attack and defence. Dylan Minetto was Mr Reliable in the engine room for the Bears playing Front Row, Second Row or Lock, and Luke Bateman provided that little extra starch and experience in the Seagull pack.

Plenty of big boppas in the comp this year but not too much discussion needed to decide our picks, dynamic Panther battering ram Michael Molo and Carina's skillful skipper Lachlan Barr, who both provided their opposition with plenty of headaches through the year, in more ways than one!!!
