21.01.2022 BAD KNEES? We can fix that? In situations when you are training the big muscle groups its important to not skip the small ones. The small ones are what make the big ones work efficiently. The Poliquin Step Up is a great exercise for working the VMOs. The Vastus Medialis Oblique muscle help with stability of the knee and is one of the more important muscles that help ensure health of the knee joint. At BSM we use this exercise for all members, especially members who suffer fro...m weak knees, knees that internally rotate when lunging or squatting, and even for overall sport performance. Our methods keep a members healthy and reduce the chance of injury. 15.01.2022 There is not secret to succeeding. Success lies within you. You simply have to find the key that unlocks it. We know we preach this, more often than not, but when you truly place your focus on being consistent with your routine and your healthier habits, the health and strength results you’re after will cause LASTING changes. Simple yet specific dietary and physical activity habits like drinking enough water each day, including colourful vegetables on your plates each day or... getting in at least 10,000 steps, are all great places to start. You don’t have to do them all at once, either. Pick one or two healthy habits or actions to work on for a few weeks; make it so easy at first that you physically can’t fail. You’ll distract yourself from the constant worrying about the weights you're striving to hit or the number scale or the way you're recovering from an injury. When you focus on these micro/daily habits, lasting and meaningful change will follow. Consistency is found in those small, repetitive, seemingly unimportant decisions you make each and every day. Slow it down, stop putting so much pressure on yourself and make the decisions that allow you to feel your best. There is still a stigma around women believing that strength and conditioning will create a manly or bulky look. Strength training DEVELOPS muscle mass and it can do so in many ways. Strong muscle isn’t necessary large either. When anyone begins training, their muscles will become firmer, yes, but this rate of growth does not last long. W...hat muscle does though is provide you with a body that can withstand loads of various kinds, move freely with ease and pick up objects without injuring yourself. 04.01.2022 Capacity creates capability. Don't get caught up over actions you cannot execute if your capacity doesn't allow for capability. You might have the capacity to push a sled for 20m in 18 seconds. This then allows for capability to improve your capacity through training to 15 seconds.... This can also be transferred into health metrics. Your capability to get through your normal program exists, only if you have the capacity to do so with the energy your body has available to it. If you have a not so optimal sleep, your capacity to push harder is decreased which then decreases your capabilities, and vice versa. This week, ask yourself, do I have enough capacity to become capable enough to execute.
