10.01.2022 From next Monday, 1,200 head of cattle will be entering the Gympie region from South Burnett along Murgon-Gayndah Road. They are being driven by four drovers an...d 21 dogs. The stock will proceed onto the Burnett Highway (northbound), and travel into the North Burnett Shire. The cattle will be held on the roadside at night, with electric fences. Please share this with people you know who travel these routes on a regular basis as there will likely be delays.

03.01.2022 The Dept of Main Roads has advised us that the BVRT will be closed between Esk and Coominya. This is a precautionary measure and please obey all signs. We will let you know when the trail reopens

We look forward to seeing their plans unfold in time In 2020, TMR has a number of e...xciting improvements proposed including: resurfacing works between Toogoolawah and Ottaba, Lockyer Creek Bridge and Coominya and between Coal Creek bridge and Esk replacing pedestrian gates and concrete cattle grids with steel cattle grids between Toogoolawah and Esk, and between Lockyer Creek Bridge and Clarendon Road, Lowood installing signs to identify road names at road crossings (currently underway) installing horse-friendly infrastructure including step-ups at suitable locations installing interpretive signs regarding Indigenous cultural heritage of significance in the Brisbane Valley region at two locations, Benarkin and Pine Mountain. Interpretive signs will be installed at these locations denoting the Indigenous cultural significance of the area (please note, the signs will not identify specific locations due to the sacredness of these sites). The signs are due to be installed in January the development of a Risk Management Plan for the BVRT including consultation with relevant stakeholders as part of developing the plan.
