14.01.2022 Dear all, We are very aware that many of you are waiting eagerly for news regarding progress towards establishing the Brisbane Steiner School; SVSS 2nd campus. We are actively following up all leads and possibilities and have several promising sites that we are working to progress. It is still our hope to be able to identify a site and obtain all the necessary approvals for an opening date sometime in 2017. For this to be possible we need to have a definite location secured prior to the end of 2016. We are making a committed attempt to achieve this. We will provide a further update early in December or prior if we secure a site in the interim. Thank you for your ongoing support and patience.

09.01.2022 Great article that mentions very relevant aspects that can nourish the child
08.01.2022 Interest in the Brisbane Steiner School continues to grow and we have continued to work hard behind the scenes to bring this exciting initiative to fruition. A major step is securing a site and in December last year, we advised our community that we had located a site in Toowong upon which to commence operations of the Brisbane Steiner School; pending acquisition of the necessary Council and Non State Schools Accreditation Board approvals. We have now received the difficult ...news that there is a significant potential overland flow flooding issue affecting the site that was previously not identified in our initial town planning investigations. These issues unfortunately render the site unsuitable as an option for our school. I am sure that you will share our disappointment at this turn of events. Bringing a new school into the world is truly like a birth. Thankfully, regardless of the possible false starts and labour pains, the anticipated outcome is eventually inevitable. We are working with focus and commitment to ensure our new school comes to birth in the shortest time frame possible. Prior to beginning our application on the Toowong site, we had several other sites identified as solid possibilities and will now continue to investigate progressing these options as quickly as possible. The focus of our search remains on the inner suburbs of Brisbane City. Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to sharing good news with you again in the near future. Pep Wright Director
08.01.2022 Good read - Summary results of Questionnaire based Waldorf/Steiner High Schools
04.01.2022 Dear beautiful Brisbane Community: The interest and need/want for an inner city Waldorf School continues to grow. However a key group of drivers/director is needed with the time, energy, skills, understanding and passion is needed, someone to take over the reigns. So much information, knowledge and groundwork has been done over the years of the Brisbane Waldorf Schools journey and I am here willing to support and mentor however cannot continue to drive this as mentioned previously in our last community meeting. If you feel this calling and pull please contact me via email [email protected] Blessings Heidi
02.01.2022 Waldorf Education regularly addresses the skeptic child’s underlying question: Why do I have to learn this? Curriculum and teaching methods work specifically ...to engage students in a way that matters to them so that they can bring purpose, curiosity, and resilience to the task at hand. Relevancy is about bringing intrinsic motivation and curiosity to education. From The Waldorf School of Philadelphia See more
02.01.2022 Dear Community, Over the past twenty-four months the Rudolf Steiner Education Group Brisbane (RSEGB), governing body of Samford Valley Steiner School (SVSS), ha...s been seeking a suitable established site for a second Steiner School in the central Brisbane area. During this period, many sites have been pursued but no site has been secured. Recent efforts have been focussed on a potential site in the Red Hill area. Regretfully, we now have confirmation from the State Government that this site will not be available to us for the establishment of the school in the near future. Expanding access for more students to experience their education at a Steiner School remains a core focus of the RSEGB and as such we will regroup and continue our search. In 2016 RSEGB joined together with Heidi Casey and a group called the Brisbane Waldorf School (BWS) to jointly undertake this exciting project. Both groups felt at the time that the merge would provide optimum opportunity for success. Following the two groups joining forces Heidi spent some time on the SVSS School Board and has led the Second School Subcommittee in the work towards establishing a second school. After recent review, Heidi has decided to re-establish a group to work towards developing a new school independently of the RSEGB. The Board of RSEGB would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge all the work that Heidi has done during our partnership and wish her well in this independent endeavour. We continue to hold true to our mission that Steiner Education be available to all those who seek it in South East Qld and both groups will now be working towards this end. We understand that the significant delays in the expected opening of the school has impact for parents and guardians who have completed the pre-enrolment process. At this stage we will be closing the pre-enrolment waitlists for the second school and will be refunding all second school pre-enrolment fees paid to date. The Samford Valley Steiner School enrolments or accounts personnel will be in touch with you shortly regarding this refund. Parents will be offered the option of reinstating their existing position on the waitlist when further progress is made towards the establishment of the school and the pre-enrolment process opens again. Samford Valley Steiner School currently has limited places available in some classes and we would be happy to explore options with you should you wish to consider enrolment at SVSS. We thank you for your support and patience. Warmly The Rudolf Steiner Education Group Brisbane
01.01.2022 We look forward to meeting you tomorrow night and working together to open an inner city Waldorf community school which is accessible to all children and families.
01.01.2022 Dear Friends, To start the New Year we would like to give an update on our progress in the search for a home for Brisbane Steiner School. Just a few days ago Heidi Casey, Rob Hewitt (RSEGB Board Treasurer) and Jan Baker-Finch met with Kate Jones, local member for Cooper, the electorate in which the Ithaca TAFE is situated, to discuss the proposal for BSS that we submitted to the Government at the end of September 2017. The snap state elections and Christmas break meant that n...o real progress was made in the intervening months, so we were very glad to finally gain an appointment. Kate was encouraging and helpful. She frankly elucidated the Government’s challenges dealing with the many empty TAFEs across Qld., promised to speak to Minister for Education Grace Grace on our behalf, and offered to facilitate a meeting (within a month) with Shannon Fentiman, the Minister for Training responsible for these sites. Cognisant of the complexity of the issues, we are still hoping to be granted sole negotiator status for Ithaca TAFE. We will tell you more once we have met the Minister. As we told Kate Jones, we are tenacious, and will not let up until our goal is reached, so your encouragement and ongoing trust spur us on. Thank you! See more
