22.01.2022 It's amazing just what is possible!
19.01.2022 The end of the year is fast approaching and so too the BRAIN end of year get-together. We are going to meet up at the Maiala Picnic Ground at Mt Glorious. We'll meet at 10am in the carpark and go for a stroll through the rainforest and then back to the Picnic Ground for a bit of lunch and a chat. There are picnic tables up there but it's a popular spot so it might be a good idea to bring folding chairs or a picnic blanket. So, bring all the usual things--hat, insect repellent..., drink, snacks, lunch, binoculars and camera. I'm thinking we'll do the Rainforest Circuit walk. At the BRAIN pace, I think that's all we would manage. Here's the description: Rainforest circuit 2km circuit (allow 1 hour) This walking track starts at the Maiala day-use area and winds through stunning subtropical rainforest. Appreciate the majestic beauty of the old Sydney blue gum, a sole survivor of the eucalypt forest that was once the dominant vegetation here. This track joins the Cypress Grove and a section of Greenes Falls walking track.
07.01.2022 We're heading off for a botanical walk on Sunday 25 October to Triunia National Park in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Triunia is home to the endangered rainforest shrub Triunia robusta, after which the park is named and Zieria bifida, a small plant found only in the local area. The Management Plan has lots of information about the site at http://www.nprsr.qld.gov.au//mp043-triunia-np-mgtplan-gic-. The Park isn't set up for visitors and has no facilities or paths. There is little road verge parking so it's best we meet elsewhere and carpool to the location. With that in mind, we'll be meeting at The Flaxton Barn at 9.30am on Sunday 25 October. There is parking out the front or street parking just up from it.
