The Natural Disaster Withdrawal scheme under the Fiji National Provident Fund is specifically established to cater for members in the Western Division affected in the aftermath of TC Josie. FNPF Chief Executive Officer Jaoji Koroi says this is a quick response assistance and will help people get back on their feet. Koroi says many people in other parts of the country especially in the North had also asked for similar assistance however this will not happen as those in the West are the ones that have been badly affected. _"At this stage we havent receive any report from the Commissioner North in terms of the damage and i think they still going through the flood .Our prayers are with them and hopefully the damage will not huge as whats happening in the Western Division." Meanwhile the Fund had distributed a total of $30,000 to 30 successful applicants last Friday Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is urging Fijians to be prepared for the wet weather that is anticipated for the country. During his visit in the Western Division, Bainimarama said that it was a very sad situation as a lot people had nothing left. It was really sad, most of the homes have nothing left there, no food, no cooking utensils, and no clothes. Most them have been washed away by the floods. Bainimarama says the flood appeal clothes drive organized by FBC will definitely go a long way for those that have been affected by the floods in the Western and Northern divisions. Meanwhile, these clothes are expected to be distributed today. See more
