The structure of the program will follow similar years with the B grade session running first, followed by the A grade / Premier League session. We have however decided to trial a new format with the A grade/Premier grade sessions in 2020.... Season 1 Term 1 - The A grade / Premier grade will run as a 4 team (more if req) round robin tournament with a 1 week finals. Season 1 term 2 - There will be an A grade game immediately following the B grade session. Following the A grade game we will run a Premier Grade game for invited players. This term runs in sync with the national league seasons. Season 2 Term 1 - We are introducing a 3x3 Wheelchair Basketball competition. Season 2 Term 1 - The A grade time schedule will be advised following a review of the previous 3 terms. Please find attached a flyer advertising the BWBL. This year we have created 1 link for registration across the state. You will need to select the relevant category. We ask that all those interested in playing in the A grade, please register by no later than January 29. This will give us time to sort teams and create a draw. 08.01.2022 VERY IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ Due to the escalating spread of corona virus, we are suspending all Sporting Wheelies programs and events for a minimum period of 2 weeks - effective immediately. The Brisbane Wheelchair Basketball program has 3 weeks remaining for this season. Therefore the decision has been made to suspend the BWBL until after the Easter school holiday period.... You will be kept updated on the situation via email and social media Please be mindful of your own protection from the virus and follow the publicised medical advice regarding social distance and hand washing. If you have any questions for me, please do not hesitate to contact Sporting Wheelies.

06.01.2022 Kevin Coombs Cup 2020 The Kevin Coombs Cup is the national championship for Wheelchair Basketballers (males aged <23 and females aged <25), run in conjunction w...ith the Australian Under 18 Basketball Championships. With the current state of the nation due to COVID-19, unfortunately these championships have been postponed indefinitely. We hope that there is some scope to have a championship in the back end of the year. We would at this time however like to acknowledge all the hard work put in by athletes and coaches in both vying for selection and preparing for the KCC Championship. Athletes were asked to nominate prior to the Queensland State Championships in May 2019. From there a selection process including camps and tournament play were undertaken. The Sporting Wheelies and Disabled Association pathway follows the direction of local, regional and state level participation which ensures athletes can be seen competing with and against different levels of experience. In 2020 it has been very pleasing to unearth players and staff who were set to make their debut at state level. It must also be said that Queensland plays a vital part in the development of the competition. For many years we have provided opportunity for players from other states to take part, should their state not be able to. In 2020 we again had registered a Qld / South Australia team combining some of the two states best talent. Queensland as a state has won 3 of the past 8 KCC Championships since 2010. Please congratulate the following members on their selection to the Queensland Rolling Thunder for 2020. (* denotes first time selection) QUEENSLAND WHITE Zach Binns - Brisbane Locky Synot - Brisbane Brayden Foxley-conolly -Mackay Dylan Child - Brisbane Eithen Leard - Brisbane Hayden Siebuhr - Toowoomba Ryan Williams - Brisbane Ashlee Willis * - Brisbane Cooper Whitestyles - Mackay Coach - Thomas Kyle - Brisbane Assistant Coach - Deb King - Gladstone QUEENSLAND MAROON Dylan Barber - Toowoomba * Devlin Dodds - Townsville * Mitch Duncan - Sunshine Coast Isabelle Evans - Brisbane * Jashar Keetley - Sunshine Coast Braydon Packer - Fraser Coast * Henry Rider - Fraser Coast Jace Tyler - Gold Coast Emerald Wilmshurst - Fraser Coast Coach - Michael Oxley - Fraser Coast Assistant Coach - Rachel Nichol - Brisbane QUEENSLAND / SOUTH AUSTRALIA Fernando Grez Montiel - South Australia Tobias Karsten - South Australia Matt Lodewikus - Rockhampton Dylan Robinson - Rockhampton Nathan Simpson - South Australia Charles Smart - Townsville Jack Thomas - Victoria Zac Uhr - Mackay Coach - David Gould - South Australia Assistant Coach - Tom Kyle - Brisbane Tour / Team Managers - Matt Anderson (Toowoomba) and Nick Such (Brisbane)
