25.01.2022 "I don't have enough time." I have been living with that mantra in my head for EVER. I seem to exist in this constant state of catch-up, hopping from one thing to the next. This "lockdown" has offered the opportunity to really check in and stretch out, Time-Wise. We can use our time in ways we normally may not. We can NOT use our time, if we opt to go that way.... So I ask...how are you using this time? Do you have plans for projects? Are you on the No-Plan Plan? I want to make the most of this gift of space and I am figuring out what that looks like. 14.01.2022 As the "Silly Season" approaches, it's time to check in! How is your headspace? Are you finding your to-do lists already getting longer? Do you have thoughts of consumerism, budget-balancing, holiday schedule management and general planning swirling around in your mind?... I know my plate is alreqdy starting to feel a bit fuller and we're not even halfway through November! A great option to stay grounded is to use your morning routine to centre yourself and prioritise. 13.01.2022 It's been a while since I posted anything in this space but I want to say hello! What a tumultuous time it has been. For the past 6 months I have been working with the amazing organisation Save the Children Australia, delivering a wonderful program called Journey of Hope. This fantastic endeavour has taken up most of my work hours each week, temporarily pulling me away from my wellbeing practice. It has been a great experience; I have learned so much and met so many amazing... people. Best of all, I have been helping children better understand and cope with emotions, watching them build resilience and confidence. The time is approaching that I will return to my wellbeing practice full-time. I have some things in the works...making plans for the year ahead. I simultaneously battled with and adored the Not-Doing. Finally, I left the house to breathe fresh air at the beach and I was gifted the amazing experience of watching a sea eagle swoop and tumble through the sky. Its performance filled me with such peace and wonder that I left feeling lifted and connected to this amazing Mother Earth. So, I wonder? What has given YOU peace lately? Soothed. Fear can be fed. It can be sustained so the child is so big he takes over everything. Demanding, screaming. Trust, as well, can be nurtured. She can be welcomed and supported so that she is stronger, calmer. She is able to soothe the screaming child. Who will you feed today? How are you? 05.01.2022 How are you, in this moment? How have you been feeling in this lead-up to Christmas? Grounded?... Distracted? Joyful? Overwhelmed? Worried? Grateful? All. Of. The. Above. The holidays are a time when we experience ALL the feels. Because of this wash of emotions, we tend to resort to familiar patterns that may not serve us. Patterns are subconscious tendencies which we engage in regularly. Stressful situations (i.e. holiday prep) can spin us into survival mode. Think: procrastinating, overthinking, overbuying, overeating, comparing, catastrophising, negative outlook, etc. Holidays are also a time of traditions. Traditions have the potential to pull us into the present moment and connect us with gratitude. Making your mum's potato salad, decorating the tree to music, savouring a particular dessert. These are the moments that remind us of what matters. So. How do we balance it all? My mantra has become: Notice the patterns. Honour the traditions. Notice your negative patterns without judgement. Acknowledge them like a child who needs love. Then move into you traditions with honour and joy. Acknowledge what they offer you with love and respect.
