25.01.2022 Today is about sharing information for supporting mental health & wellbeing in a changing world. Let's talk about three great apps that you can share with your children. They are all free and can be found on the App store. 1. ReachOut Worry Time - this helps to interrupt repetitive thinking, setting your worries aside to get on with your day. 2. Clear Fear - to help with the fear of threat, or anxiety. This app helps your children to reduce the physical responses to threat ...as well as changing thoughts, behaviours and releasing emotions. 3. Smiling Mind - mediation for young people. This app has been developed by a team of psychologists, using mindfulness to boost calm, contentment and clarity. Don't forget to get out and walk in your local park if possible, blow some bubbles for your children to chase. Amazing how stress busting this can be.

25.01.2022 At first, mindfulness can seem like an intangible concept. However, practicing mindfulness is, quite simply, the act of concentrating on your breathing, being aware of your breath and being aware of what is going on around you in the present moment. The more you do it, the more the simplicity of it becomes clear and the benefits manifold. It lightens the mind and the spirit.

24.01.2022 As play therapists, we carry the essential heart and soul of play therapy within each of us. Leveraging the child's resiliency, and the play therapy relationship as therapeutic powers of play that we can use no matter where we are. We are the playroom! (A4PT)

23.01.2022 Sharing these amazing rugs. What a great sensory tool to include in a play therapy room.

20.01.2022 Say you are holding a heavy parcel with both hands and someone gives you another parcel to hold - you would have to put the parcel you're already holding down in order to accept the second parcel. It is exactly the same principle with thoughts. You can only hold one at a time. So instead of juggling thoughts (or parcels), deal with each one before tackling another. Keep your mind (or hands) free and ready to accept any new thoughts (The Little Book of Mindfulness). If you are feeling stressed or anxious, head to www.evolvecandles.com.au to purchase this popular roll on blend of essential oil. Evolve Candles 'Stress & Anxiety' blend is handmade by Kati, a professional counsellor, and aromatherapist to help calm & centre your mind, body & soul.

11.01.2022 Your time and energy is precious! Self-love, means setting boundaries. Being self-aware of what IS, and what is NOT acceptable in your world. You will be giving yourself the gift of self-worth, whilst teaching others what you won't accept.

09.01.2022 Here are 5 simple ways to help parents co-regulate with their child - 1. Use a warm soothing tone of voice 2. Acknowledge the emotion you are seeing in your child 3. Give your child some supportive silence... 4. Don't try to problem solve, instead try inviting your child to problem solve. 5. Ask your child "What do you think would be helpful right now?" See more

08.01.2022 The ultimate sensory experience for a child! Try playing with clay to add some natural sensory stimulation. Great for regulating anxiety & helps to switch a child out of fight or flight mode.

07.01.2022 National Play Therapy Week is here! This is a time to promote the value of play, play therapy & credentialed play therapists. There is more evidence now than ever that children need play in order to live healthy lives, and play therapy is improving children's mental health and overall well-being all over the world. We know it; you know it; now let's get out there and make sure everyone knows it! (A4PT)
