Mates in Construction is a charity established to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. The role of a Connector is to help keep someone in crisis safe. A Connector is not a professional counselor, they are simply a mate who knows how to help. The Connector training provides some extra skills for people ...to ask about suicide and then facilitate the link to help. We are proud to have representatives of such an important organisation on our team. It is important that we all remember to ask a friend if they are ok? Brix Projects are super proud of Tony Rush who is our CONNECTOR, Tony has dedicated his time to helping others in their fight against suicide and menta...l health. Mental Health is an extremely important topic in construction, which is sadly renowned for high rates of suicide. NSW government data shows that construction workers are six times more likely to die by suicide than a workplace accident. Apprentices in construction aged between 15 and 24 are twice as likely to take their life than other young people their age.
