01.01.2022 Better Quality Sleep = Better Workplace - the resilience institute www.resiliencei.com Most of us are getting 1 hours sleep less than what we need. The cost on good decision-making, productivity and general health is enormous. In a recent study* we conducted globally, over 3 years, we found that 43.3% of all respondents ranked highly on questions relating to tiredness and fatigue. Tips for Improving Your Sleep ... Wake up at the same time each day, preferably at dawn. Recover sleep debt by going to bed early, rather than sleeping in. Aim to sleep for 7-8 hours per night. Take power-naps after lunch for 15 minutes = 3 hours performance benefit. Discover your own circadian / ultradian rhythm (owl or lark). Improve sleep quality: stop caffeine intake before 2pm try a small, early dinner with limited alcohol and protein turn off technology at least an hour before sleep create a cool, dark and quite bedroom - avoid technology in room schedule your exercise early in the day Sleep Awareness Week July, 2015 Many studies reveal the significant cost of employee presenteeism (reduced productivity due to attending work while physically or mentally unwell). A recent study** based on Australian workers, shows the association between poor sleep quality and quantity with higher presenteeism. Sleep and rest are vital to our health and wellbeing. Technology among other factors, has disrupted our body clocks and the first step to getting a good nights sleep, is understanding the science behind it."
