21.01.2022 Koala Lou, I do love you..

21.01.2022 This week, we’re celebrating 80 years of care for children through Lady Gowrie Qld. Here’s a quote by Lady Zara Gowrie from 1940... so incredibly apt for our current times. "I rejoice to think that every generation must bring in some reform, otherwise there would be no such thing as progress. All thinking people must realise that as a result of the present bitter world conflict there must come a better world. Surely, there is no better way of making a better world than through our children? They are our greatest hope for the future. " Happy Anniversary Lady Gowrie Qld. Broadbeach Waters Kindergarten is proud to be part of the family.

21.01.2022 For all the significant men in the children’s lives. Enjoy the celebration on Sunday.

08.01.2022 Welcome to another Reading Time! There have been two ‘days’ of celebration over the weekend. International Cat Day is celebrated on 8th August and Book Lov...ers’ Day on 9th August so that fortunate combination of circumstances leads me to this week’s recommendation which is Meg and Mog, written by Helen Nicoll, illustrated by Jan Pienkowski. Meg and Mog is the first in the long-standing series about a witch (Meg) and her cat (Mog), originally published in 1972. In Meg and Mog, we follow Meg as she gets up, gets dressed, prepares breakfast, and sets out (with Mog) for a witches' spell Halloween party. Unfortunately, the spell does not go exactly to plan... Why do I like it? The illustrations are simple, with very bold, deep colours, providing great contrast for very young children. The text is short and simple, allowing the illustrations to play an important part in the storytelling, and providing opportunities for the adult reader to make it really interesting and fun. Here at Take My Hand we believe that reading to children from birth is one of the essential building blocks in a child’s development. Each of our BestPlay boxes contains a specially selected book just right for your child’s age in that all-important first year. To find out more about the BestPlay Box, look us up at www.takemyhand.com.au With a big shout out to our friends in Victoria, and all experiencing the current uncertainty, see you next week. Susan
