24.01.2022 20th Century Folk Mass Circa 1967 Don Jones and Don Noblett orchestrated a popular musical arrangement to suit Methodist Communion Services in Adelaide. Don Jones was the cantor and Don Noblett was the conductor of the different choirs, Jan Lyons and Elizabeth James both being pianists assisted playing piano and organ with Peter Gilbert percussionist. The modern communion service as it was commonly known was part of Broadview, Tusmore and Archer Street Methodist Church commun...ion services on a number of times. The communion service was extremely well accepted by all and it was decided to have a record cut of this type of service. What is included in this recording are 2 hymns chosen by the minister for the service. The spoken part of the communion service is not recorded. This recording was done at the Archer Street Methodist Church North Adelaide with the Archer Street Methodist Youth Choir and worshipers, led by choir leader David Lynn for their communion service. 18.01.2022 This Facebook Page has been developed to promote images and stories. You are welcome to post, tag or comment to help retain past history back in 1960s and 70s. In the 1960s there was a wonderful youth group which was part of the Broadview Methodist Church and the youth group was known as the Broadview Methodist Youth Fellowship or abbreviated to MYF. The members of this group lived in the local area and attended the Broadview Methodist Church. The youth group was created to develop activities of Christian values, make and promote friendships within the church community.
16.01.2022 MYF Sporting History tennis & basketball by Phil Roach: The church tennis and netball courts were originally on the site of the current Broadview Uniting Church on Galway Ave. There was a long timber and corrugated iron hall on the east side of the block now a car park at the back of the church.... This hall was used for many activities including Mrs Days kindergarten, and a polling booth to name a couple. It was probably the main hall for the church functions. Between the old hall and the tennis courts were two large pine trees which gave fantastic shade for those waiting for their game of tennis. The original Broadview Methodist Church was in Brooke Street. In 1956 to circa 1960 Rev Stanley was the minister. A new church hall was built on the corner of Brooke St and Collingrove Ave in the late 1950s This hall remained until about 2000, when it and the old church were sold off and now have housing on the site. When the current Broadview Uniting Church was built in the early 1960s on the original church tennis courts, the church used two courts in Myponga Tce, part of the Broadview Oval precinct and immediately to the north of Broadview Tennis Club. (I think the church had its basketball courts here during the winter.) Other courts were hired as needed. For example, the junior boys teams played home games at the back of the Bowmans (NOT SURE it was Bowmans) bus depot on Churchill Road, Prospect. Subsequent to this the church tennis club utilised two courts at Rosslyn Reserve. Greenacres Methodist Church used the other two courts. On the reserve in those days was an old hall close to the west boundary of the reserve. This was used by a scout group and which we used as a club house for home tennis games. It is no longer there, being replaced by the current building which is slightly east of the original and more central to all of the courts.

14.01.2022 Thanks to Tony Harris for the pic. A night enjoyed by all. The Old Kings Music Hall closed 17th August 1975. Not long after closing the premises caught fire and eventually was restored to a commercial business not a restaraunt or music hall any more. The captions for Robin is Robin Jarman & (? not sure) partner who is currently unknown will be corrected later. Any suggestions.

12.01.2022 MYF families living near Rosslyn Reserve by Phil Roach: The March familys home was on the north side of Romilly Ave and almost directly in line with and facing the west boundary of Rosslyn Reserve. Jack March was very involved with the Sunday school and played tennis to. Later his son Peter played senior tennis for the church.... Almost directly opposite to the March home, but on the other side of the reserve on the south side of Rosslyn Avenue lived the Buckby family. Peter Buckby played tennis with us to. He had two sisters Wendy and Sharon. The Aamodts lived on the south side of Birkinshaw Ave, the next street south from Rosslyn Ave. David Bateman lived next door or maybe two doors east of the Aamodts. He married Roslyn Moritz. Roslyn Moritz, who also played some senior tennis for the church, lived on the west side of Ways Road, just a couple of houses north of the intersection of Romilly Ave. Roslyns family hosted pre ball drinks (tea & coffee of course) before the 1966 MYF Ball at Centennial Hall, Wayville Showgrounds. Marylin and Rodney Patterson also lived in Birkinshaw Ave on the west corner of Arthur Street.
