24.01.2022 https://www.forbes.com//why-highly-successful-people-see/ Clinical psychologists are trained in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders. However, psychologists are also experts in understanding human behaviour. While many clients present with diagnosable mental health conditions for treatment, many of my clients present for additional support with a range of non-clinical issues, such as: - Perfectionism... - Burnout - Stress - Poor sleep - Adjustment to life changes - Study skills - Procrastination - Body image concerns - Eating behaviour concerns - Motivation If you, or someone you know, is experiencing any of these concerns, please get in touch to arrange an assessment. For more information, please visit our website brodieearl.com

22.01.2022 We are still open! We are still taking new referrals! BECP is providing socially distant services via online and phone consultations. (We know it's not the same, but it is effective. And it's not forever.)... If you're looking for some support, send us an email at [email protected] or have a look at the website for more information brodieearl.com

21.01.2022 This is why we got a pup for the clinic and how he can help you! Welcome Theodore.

21.01.2022 Obviously I really enjoy hearing about people's lives! And often my clients have questions about me and life as well (understandably!), especially around why I chose to work as a psychologist and what I think of my job. Here's a little glimpse into that in a discussion I had as an alumnus of one of my old universities: https://www.uts.edu.au//graduate-school-/news/thinking-big

21.01.2022 So lately, for various reasons, Ive been quite contemplative about life and death. But before you stop reading because its a lot for a Monday night! (I get it, youve finished work, youre cooking dinner, and death is not exactly the topic thats going to help motivate you to get through the rest of the week but just bear with me). Its really not been in a depressed kind of morbid way, but more from a take a breath because life is far more precious and fragile than Id... realised and Im so grateful for so many things kind of way! Coincidentally, I came across a book called The Top 5 Regrets of the Dying by Bronnie Ware. Bronnie is a palliative care nurse. She asked people who were close to death what their biggest regrets were. (I know, very heavy again, just keep reading a little further) What they had to say was incredibly insightful. And they are things we can change! Were here right now. And while we are, we should try and make the most of it. And this is how you do it: (See, not too heavy right?)

21.01.2022 From both Tara and I, we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you again in the new year!

19.01.2022 Perfectionism in a lot of ways can be helpful often it helps drive people to do more and be better. But it becomes a problem when we become so overwhelmed with the task that we procrastinate or avoid it, or we work ridiculously hard at getting it done, often at the expense of other important areas of life like our relationships, health, and leisure. https://www.brodieearl.com//22/can-you-be-too-perfectionis

17.01.2022 Workplace bullying constitutes repeated and persistent negative actions aimed at one or more individuals, which results in the creation of a hostile working environment. It happens to be a deliberate, ongoing, and subtle activity with all its negative implications carefully masked, that is. An invisible, intensively individualised and harmful experience. 16.01.2022 All you need is confidence in yourself. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger. The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid. And that kind of courage you have in plenty. - L. Frank Baum (The Wizard of Oz) Every single person on this planet feels nervous about something. It is a normal feeling! Helpful even! When your nerves start to get the better of you and stop you doing the things that are important, thats when it becomes a pr...oblem. Be brave. In world full of worry, and warnings and cautions and donts, be brave enough to face your fear. And if you cant do it alone, get some help. Because in the long run, what will you regret more?

15.01.2022 I am so excited to welcome Tara Trewartha to the team! She is an excellent psychologist and we are very lucky to have her on board. Tara will be seeing clients on Fridays at our CBD office. If you'd like to know a bit more about her, we've put up some information on our website about her experience/training/interests/etc., or feel free to give us a call or send us an email at [email protected]

15.01.2022 Is it really OCD? Or actually just kind of perfectionistic..

14.01.2022 Okay so youve decided to go to therapy (woo go you! Its really helpful, and Im a little biased, but I think everyone should do it). But youre not sure who to go to. It is a tricky decision, because it can be a big financial investment, as well as a commitment to investing your time. You want to find the right person to help you. Hopefully these tips will help you to make a good decision.... https://opossum-guava-5dfk.squarespace.com//5c3692bb2b6a28

02.01.2022 We would love to welcome the newest team member of BECP, Theodore! Teddy will be sitting in on some of our therapy sessions, and while we don't currently have the research data to support the effectiveness of miniature dachshund puppies for treating mental disorders, anecdotally he seems to bring a lot of smiles. We hope you love him as much as we do. He's very excited to meet you! Click here for more info: https://www.brodieearl.com/theodore-aka-teddy

02.01.2022 Great post by The Millennial Therapist! Setting (and keeping) boundaries can be difficult for so many reasons. But if its any of the reasons below, staying and doing the same thing over and over wont fix the issue. If you are noticing that a relationship isnt making you happy and fulfilled its important to reflect on the reasons for that, and think about why youre choosing to stay. If you find that this is a pattern in your life, that might indicate something deeper is... going on, and would be a good reason to consult with a clinical psychologist. Schema Therapy is a particularly useful approach for these kinds of issues.
