23.01.2022 A few thoughts and updates... As the COVID19 situation in Australia has it so many families are working and schooling from home, unexpectedly, kitten enquiries have gone through the roof... I would like to please ask all whom are interested in a new kitten to exercise caution. Many of us registered breeders only have so many litters a year and may not have kittens ready to go as soon as you wish. I have already spoken to a couple of lovely people just this week of whom have b...een looking at kittens from unregistered breeders. I realise how exciting buying a ragdoll kitten can be and pedigree papers don’t matter to everyone; but please ask the questions and make absolute sure that whichever breeder you buy from tests the parents for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) and Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD)...the devastation is heart breaking to lose a loved Ragdoll from either of these. There is no excuse for a breeder registered or unregistered to not test for PKD and HCM.

21.01.2022 I would like you all to know today is not a good day here at Brodsta Ragdolls. Flynn who is my pet ragdoll , my best friend , he was breed by Elizabeth Buckley from silhouette ragdolls . I got flynn while searching for a ragdoll for my daughter for her birthday and fell in love with him ,so I purchased him from Elizabeth. Flynn follows me everywhere sits with me while I eat often tells me he wants some ,wakes in the morning , tells me when he is hungry , I love this boy wi...th all my heart ,. In January 2016 flynn managed to get out side and while he never left my backyard he had breathed in a spur from the grey pigeon poop. From this he contracted cryptococous. After having surgery and removing the tumors off his body and sending them away it came back positive to this deadly disease. I was given 2 options medicate or pts. I chose to medicate. So Flynn has been medicated since then . He knew when i was going to give him his meds as soon as he saw you grab the box he was off . Over the last 12 mths flynn developed a tumor in his nose and there is nothing the vets can do , they can't remove it as they will have to remove part of his face and then he would be in constant pain and bleed all the time , so i chose not to do the surgery. The tumor has gotten bigger over the last couple of mths to the point where it is spreading , he no longer has a nose , and this tumor is always infected, so after talking to my vet ,I have made the very very hard decision to put my beautiful boy to sleep today. My heart is broken and the tears keep flowing but I love him to much to let him suffer , so please understand if I don't get back to any of you messages . See more

14.01.2022 Truer words never written HOW MUCH FOR A KITTEN? Let me say a few words to you, yes to you, the person writing an email, just to ask for the price. The person who calls and after hearing a price surprisingly says: "I can buy a cheaper kitten elsewhere". I speak to you too; the person who doesn't care about papers because I want "just a pet".... No cat is just a pet. Behind every purebred kitten there is a BREEDER. I use capital letters to differentiate a breeder from a pet factory or mill. A reputable breeder will not breed undocumented cats, which does not protect the integrity of the breed. Registration (papers) are lineage records that document the bloodline and enable one to investigate possible health problems in the lineage. When you tell a breeder that you don't care about papers, you are really telling them that you care no less about the kitten's health, just the cheapest thing you can find! When you buy a kitten from a reputable and high quality breeder, that breeder is responsible for the health of every kitten; this breeder is skipping the holidays, missing out on sleeping and most of his personal home space has been converted into space for his cats. The truly passionate breeder who loves what he breeds puts all of his heart and soul into it. Not only with kittens that are sold, but also with every customer who has a piece of his heart and is now a member of his extended family. Breeders worry about their babies after they leave and take them back without question. A breeder will "get their hands dirty", often burdened with everything that comes with giving birth. Because that's what life is about ... In the midst of birth and death is life. The wheel that keeps turning. A breeder carries out tests, x-rays, analyzes, emergency operations, vaccinations, litter, family trees, deworming and microchips for his kittens and has them assessed by specialists. Last but not least, a breeder chooses the family lucky enough to have one of their kittens. Yes, you read that right. A real breeder chooses who to sell to because he doesn't make any money selling it. There is no compensation that can offset the investments made by a breeder. Hence, they need to be sure that they fit properly. Often saying no more than yes ... A good breeder has different criteria for those who want to continue their bloodline. Why? Since breeding is not a responsibility to ever be taken lightly, it is a lifestyle choice reserved ONLY for the devoted few who are willing to sacrifice. Because a cat is never "just a pet" it is the breeder's legacy, a little boy's best friend, a protector for little girls, therapy for the elderly, a family member, someone's whole world !!! 09.01.2022 Please read Currently there are a lot of very overpriced non registered kittens available on various sites. People, in their excitement to get a kitten, are getting conned. You should never pay $2000 for a kitten from an unregistered breeder. Gumtree have a price cap of $500 for kittens from unregistered breeders, NEVER pay more than that. EVER!!! I have a list of vital questions you need to ask BEFORE you pay any money over. Sorry for the length of this post, but it need...ed to be said, yet again. THINGS TO ASK YOUR 'BREEDER' 1. Are you registered 2. Who are you registered with and does price include pedigree papers. 3. Can I see current proof of registration 4. What age do you let your kittens leave 5. What vetwork do you have done 6. Do you desex prior to me getting my kitten 7. Do you give me any information on things to do with my new kitten such as food, worming, etc 8. Do you offer ongoing support for the life of my kitten 9. Do you DNA screen your breeding cats for HCM and PKD 10. Can you provide proof that they have been done. 11. Can I see pictures of mum and dad and how they live. Can I talk to any past families you have sold kittens to THESE ARE IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU PART WITH YOUR MONEY If I was answering these questions the answers would be 1. Yes, Amjance Ragdolls 2. FCCQ 3. Yes you can 4. 12 - 14 weeks 5. Desex, vaccinated twice, microchipped 6. Yes I do 7. I provide all buyers with a comprehensive booklet containing a lot of information 8. Yes I do 9. Yes I do 10. Yes I can 11. 07.01.2022 As things slowly start to go back to some form of normality, please do remember your pets. They too have been going through their own form of pandemic. Y...our pets have been used to not having you around so much prior to Covid and the sudden need for everyone to stay home caused a whole lot of angst amongst our fur kids. It has taken them time to adjust, especially the felines. Just as they have gotten used to the extra attention, food and noise, soon, they will feel very isolated and alone. Those of you who have taken one of my babies home during this ISO period, start preparing them now for your return to day to day life. Things to assist them adapt yet again to a change in their world: Leave one of your jumpers with them Leave a light on Leave the tv or radio on Make sure you give them attention before leaving and as soon as you return If your fur baby is an anxious kid, sort out the Feliway ASAP Remember that these darlings have been your therapy and best friend 24/7 for weeks now. They have cared for you, it’s how time you ensure they too are mentally ok.
