21.01.2022 Wow, what a week. I started two new office day jobs this week, and I'm just shattered! Family life has taken another turn for us, with me going back to full time work, so just a heads up that all orders will now they're a 3-4 week turnaround. Not quite sure what the rest of the year will look like, but I'm giving myself some grace and space to allow us some time to settle into this new rhythm. Am so very grateful I was given just the right jobs I need just when I needed i...t! So, we may be a bit quieter over over here on our social media page, but know we haven't gone anywhere! Our website store is still open with lots of products ready for purchase,, and we are looking into hosting an online 'gallery market' over the next few weeks too! So...before I head down the mum guilt rabbit hole too far ....any tips on balancing work and family well? Kerrie

19.01.2022 The most beautiful suprise today - a gorgeous bunch of flowers from the sweetest client @nellywadeaustralia from @bloomsondarby I think the thing I have been most surprised about since being in business is how my fellow small biz owners and our customers have become my friends. I did not expect it, and it has been a delightful surprise. I had coffee this morning with a gorgeous customer, and flowers delivered this afternoon from another happy customer. Oh I am so gr...ateful for these beautiful people! We never wanted to create a business that was just 'business'. We love people, and we wanted a warm and friendly experience when you shop with us. Today, I feel like maybe we nailed it. I truly hope that when you have any contact with us, that you feel this genuine affection and care from our team. Because we sure do love you! Happy Friday, friends. Kerrie

18.01.2022 Oh this one HAS to be my favourite now. Hand drawn hand cut hand sanded hand painted pieces. So when we say our pieces are handmade....we really mean it! Each one different, each one perfectly imperfect, and they have my heart. ... This design will be available on the website soon, or just DM me to create your own custom sign. Happy Monday friends! Kerrie @ Newcastle, New South Wales

17.01.2022 enough A podcast by @katenorthrup last year captured my heart, and still does. She spoke about this word, enough, saying "Let the amount you have moved your body this week be enough.... Let the effort you put into that project be enough. Let the amount of sex you are having be enough. Let the love you have to give be enough. The world doesn’t need you busy, The world needs you here. And it is enough." [Kate Northrup] I have this sign hanging in my studio, and boy this week I needed that reminder. When the laundry hamper is overflowing, and the floor hasn't been swept, I don't know what's for dinner, there is a business to think dream work eat and breathe, friends I want to catch up with and children who need to read home readers to me...I need this reminder. I need to remind myself that it's ok to not have it all done and perfect, that I'm doing my best. And that sometimes, even with a long, never-ending to-do list, the best thing I can do is just go have a bath. And I wanted to let you know, if you are feeling less than enough, you are not alone. Kerrie. @ Newcastle, New South Wales

16.01.2022 The first day of Spring feels different than any other day, don't you think? It feels so full of potential, of new growth and possibilities. I love the planning of a spring clean, throwing open the windows to let in that air that is starting to warm up. Of feeding the plants and looking forward to them flourishing. It just feels different today. Like the world is coming alive again. Oh it just makes my heart a bit lighter. Happy Spring ... Kerrie PS. A sneak peak of some gorgeous wreaths we have been working on

15.01.2022 A few years ago, Miss K came home from preschool with an A3 piece of art paper, with just one small 20c coin size red paint dot on it. Her teacher had written her name on the paper, carefully hung it up to dry, then once dry had put it in Miss 3's bag. 2 years later, I still think about this paper. As a parent overwhelmed with an innumerable amount of art, when it came home, I honestly did not see the value in a piece of paper with one random little dot. I am pretty sure i...t discreetly found its way to the bin. But the pre-school teacher saw value in it that I didn't. She saw that by respecting her work, all of it, it showed Miss K that what she did was worthwhile... it encouraged her to create more and more pieces of art. This teacher showed her that the value was not what someone else determined of her piece of art, but what she herself thought of it. That we should respect someone else's work. And ultimately, her value of herself is not what someone else determined it should be, but what she herself does. I regret throwing away that piece of paper. But lately, as I spend hours carefully and respectfully re-creating kids drawings, I have thought about this piece of art more than any other. I love that these parents have taken the time to respect and value their child's art, and given their child such a sense of pride. Hearing how their children's art is now hanging in their family rooms, makes my heart so happy. Kerrie @ Newcastle, New South Wales

13.01.2022 Ooh so happy I can share this piece now! A custom order for a gorgeous girl and her sweet girl bubba on the way! All cut by hand on the scroll saw - I may have held my breath for the last half creating this, terrified of one wrong move that would ruin the entire piece! Thankfully it turned out amazing ... . Hope your week is off to a good start! We are looking forward to an amazing fundraiser night tonight with some tremendous prizes....if you want to buy a raffle ticket, send me a DM and I'll flick you the link! Kerrie

11.01.2022 Friday night plans sorted Have a good weekend friends! Kerrie

11.01.2022 A good friend told me that over the black, dark areas in our lives is woven threads of gold. The truth is, underneath this shiny silver star is a base coat of black paint. You see, we paint a black base coat because it brings depth to the metallic over the top. Without that dark beginning, the silver doesn't actually shine as bright. If you are going through a dark time, just remember that it will provide the base for you to shine even brighter, because of what you are go...ing through. And if you don't believe me, check out the photo in our stories to see if you can spot the difference Kerrie

10.01.2022 How cute are these pictures by Elsie and Henry! I absolutely love them and had so much fun recreating these pieces of art for them. I'm sure these will be treasured for a very long time by this family! Also - if you are stuck on a gift for father's Day, how about have your child draw a picture of them and their dad, and let me make it into a special gift for them! We are going to extend our release offer of half price pictures for a wee bit longer for you too, so just click o...n the product link on the photos to order your piece. Best gift ever! Hope your week is going well, Kerrie @ Newcastle, New South Wales

08.01.2022 I've made a bunch of these kids drawings over the last few weeks for Father's Day gifts. Even had to make one for my daughter to give to my ex so some were made with more love than others.... This one was made for @alamodeevents, and I absolutely love it. I think the while time I made this piece I sang the kids song "do your ears hang low" with that gorgeous long arm of Lyla's . I love kids drawings the bestest If today is hard for you, and you need a reason to smil...e, some pretty awesome people are having birthdays today (right @chloe.elizabethj ) so you are welcome to celebrate that with us Kerrie

07.01.2022 Look at these colours!!! The beautiful Mumma Joy has been crocheting up a storm and has created a whole bunch of beautiful face washers with the most gorgeous colours! These face washers have always been our most popular product at markets, and for good reason. 100% soft cotton, they feel amazing, they are awesome on your skin, and every cent of the purchase price goes right back into our charity work. ... I'll try and pop them up on the website over the next few days...but DM me if you want one put aside for you Kerrie

07.01.2022 Time-lapse is a marvelous thing. It makes slow, careful scroll sawing look like a dance. This is how every one of our pieces is made. By hand, with a blade. No lasers or CNC machines .. just a girl and her scroll saw.which goes about 15 times slower than this video would have you believe Not perfect, but made with a whole heap of love ... Kerrie

06.01.2022 We love you Jess! See if you can spot our products in here (one nursery sign and 2 of our little mini houses) Beautiful new shop for you to visit at Maitland

05.01.2022 About us Thought it was time to do an intro again for all our new friends Broken and Restored is part of the charity @livefreeproject_org.au ...and as such all proceeds go directly into projects in our local community. Things like groceries for families, dental treatments for kids, and mentoring programs for at risk kids. Awesome stuff. ... As for the general running and maker of the things: I'm Kerrie, a 40-something yr old single Mum to 3 delightful kids, aged between 5 and 19. I work as a bookkeeper as my day job, and play with reclaimed timber for fun. Creating with my scroll saw is my therapy, for what has been an extremely hard year (and not just because of COVID). As much as this business is part of a charity, it very much feels like my baby, so it can come across like this is my own business sometimes. I would describe myself as an "organised creative"...I love everything creative, but crave routine and organisation Oh, and I love sour rainbow straps. So.... if you're new, welcome, we're all friends here Kerrie

02.01.2022 Could there be a more perfect sign for a much loved baby whose parents loooove the ocean? Ocean inspired resin dipped name sign, featuring shells collected by Miss K from Newcastle beaches, for an extra special squishy baby.... PS. If you happened to be at the beach today watching a crazy girl in the wind trying to get a photo of this sign....this pic was the result . Totally worth it right? @ Newcastle, New South Wales

02.01.2022 This was my whole days efforts today. Slow and steady cutting of a heap of letters. At the end of the day, it doesn't look like much, for a day's work. But.... It was just the therapy I needed. Space to think, to feel, to cry, to hurt. And time to dream. Today's orders took a lot longer to cut than expected, but that's ok. There's still more to cut, and that's ok too. When we started broken + restored I had no idea it was going to be me who broke, and that it was going to be this woodworking that helped to restore me, but here we are. And for that, and your orders, I am so very grateful. Kerrie

01.01.2022 This design now available online These gorgeous florals have me swooning over here! Each floral piece is hand drawn and hand cut, carefully painted to create a truly one of a lot of gorgeous piece.... And, as you know, proceeds from all our pieces directly help those in our community through @livefreeproject_org.au Happy Thursday friends, Kerrie @ Newcastle, New South Wales
