25.01.2022 When I was in primary school, my mother made plans to take me and leave my father and start a new life because he was abusive. She changed her mind and told me that we couldn’t leave because he would fund us and kill us both. I believe that he somehow found out about her plans to leave and threatened her Very early into my relationship with my former abuser, he told me that if I left him and got with another man, that he would hunt us down and kill us both. Before my mothe...r passed away in 2000, she cried and told me that I had married my father because my former husband was abusive, possessive and jealous just like he was. Breaking the family cycle of domestic violence was hard but I’ve done it!

24.01.2022 The system needs an overhaul and fast because perpetrators of domestic violence have parental rights according to the family law system, when they shouldn’t. I still cannot fathom how a woman can have her children removed from her by DOCS, if she refuses to leave an abusive partner and yet a family law judge will then force the same woman to share custody of the children with the abuser There needs to be a new system put in place which handles only domestic violence matters, from the police, lawyers and judges. No more allowing these perpetrators the luxury of being able to appoint top lawyers and barristers to get them out of trouble and start microchipping and tracking offenders as diligently as the government does dangerous sharks

18.01.2022 Some abusers use this to their advantage and will even call 000 claiming that their partner is mentally unstable. This happens too much and I wish that there was recourse for this blatant abuse of not only victims of domestic violence but the system also I am working with a client at the moment who has had this happen to her and let me tell you, the trauma that she has experienced by this person’s actions, is horrible. This beautiful young woman has us in her corner and we will ensure that she gets every bit of help that she needs. 13.01.2022 Another rescue mission completed After receiving a message asking for help to leave an abusive situation on Saturday, we put a plan in place and made it happen. This beautiful young women was distressed and had been so badly mentally abused that she was questioning truth from lies. Thankfully I alongside of police we were able to reassure her that in no way were those things going to happen. Pete and I brought her home with us so that ahe felt safe and we all ate dinner and... of course ice cream before her friend picked her up to take her to her new life. This young woman is another Broken Ballerina Angel, who now has her wings and is free to fly without fear P.S We are not government funded and raise money by selling our cupcakes & merchandise etc. Should you wish to donate to a charity, please consider ours This helps us to purchase items, as we did yesterday for our client. BTW this CEO doesn’t earn a six figure salary, but loves every second of what she does which is changing lives and saving lives. All donations made to Broken Ballerina INC are 100% tax deductible

07.01.2022 Hello beautiful survivors, I hope that you are all travelling along ok and if you’re not, I hope that you are taking good care of yourselves. Please remember that help is available if you are struggling and that self care plays a huge part in keeping on top of your mental health. Even if it’s a small thing that you do to make yourself feel good, even for just a short moment such as listening to your favourite song or watering the garden. For me today it was snuggling with our fur baby on the couch and eating one too many ice creams because I felt a bit ordinary. There is no right or wrong way to heal or manage your anxiety etc. you have to find what works for you Jules xoxo

07.01.2022 Please allow your children to tell you how your behaviour may be hurting them. When I was little and I would try and talk to my mother about why she had belted me for example, she would dismiss me and berate me for bringing up the past, telling me that I only remembered the bad things. It left me feeling unheard, confused and made me feel that she didn’t even care that she’d hurt me Please allow your children to have a voice Jules xoxo

06.01.2022 A huge thank you to Karen and Colette for your generosity, my apologies for not posting this sooner. Our client had to flee her situation in a hurry and wasn’t able to pack a bag for herself, so it was nice to be able to give her some toiletries and makeup etc. It’s the little things that can be easily taken for granted that mean the most in situations like these. We really appreciate everything that we receive and will be hiring a storage shed ASAP as we are running out of room at home for everything P.S Thank you to everyone who has donated mattresses also, please be patient with us as we need to sort out the storage shed tomorrow and then someone to pick all of them up for us!

My former abuser gave me many convincing sob stories when we first met and I can guarantee that he’s still getting sympathy telling people how hard done by he’s been. Please don’t fall for it like I did and look for red flags and run as soon as you see one Jules xoxo
