20.01.2022 I wrote this a while ago, however I feel it warrants a repost as everything here still stands 100% true!! How do you define what 'fit' or 'healthy' is? Is it the way someone looks? How much you weigh? Flat stomach? Six pack abs? Thigh gap? Sculpted calf muscles? Fit. Healthy. Subjective words, used in many different contexts. I will never judge how 'fit' or 'healthy' you are based on a superficial image. Instead I'm interested in the things you can do with your body. We are ...all different shapes and sizes, and are all capable of different things. Sally isnt much of a cardio queen, but she can deadlift and squat over 100kg. You may not see Bob pumping iron but he sure can run a 42km marathon. Lucy can't swim to save herself, but she would run rings around you inside a cardio or pump class at the gym. Three very different people, each using their own strengths to smash their own goals. The most used excuse I hear is that 'I'm not fit enough'. The next time this excuse comes to mind I want you to pause for a moment. Think of the things that you can do, instead of those that you think you cannot. You do not have to be an athlete to be fit or healthy. What makes you not fit enough? Because you can't do push ups? Okay so you're upper body isnt so great right now. I bet you can squat though! It doesnt matter if you can't do the same exercises as the person beside you, on some level, you are fit, and you are healthy! In short, I dont want you to judge your's or anyone elses fitness or health based on an image of a 'perfect body'. Show me what you can do instead. Show everyone. Pick the exercises/activities you're good at and do them lots. I guarantee that there is always someone who is looking at you and thinking: 'Wow, I wish I could do that too!'
