25.01.2022 My first silicone reusable lids, I’m going to need more sizes and once I order my silicone ziplock bags and buy some beeswax wraps I’m looking forward to hiding the remaining cling wrap from my husband and forcing him to use my fiendishly tree huggerish food preserving methods... mwa ha ha ha!!!

19.01.2022 No patty pans = no packaging. So I catered a double wedding singlehandedly a couple of weeks ago, (ok it was a wedding between 2 sets of my daughter’s toys and there were only 5 guests ) and the menu requests were chocolate cupcakes, carrots & hummus, peanut paste sandwiches and I made a bunch of bunny pikelets bc the kids were playing so nicely that I had time Realised I’d run out of patty pans but thinking about ‘they’re paper, so they’re fine’ then realising there was plastic packaging involved made me decide for good not to buy them anymore, so we ended up with these great ‘bunny paw’ and ‘bunny tail’ cupcakes bc I dug out some pans I’d never used! Also went back to basics and greased the tins with melted butter instead of oil spray which I’ve also been wanting to do away with.

17.01.2022 My copper baking mats double as baking paper and alfoil. I use them in the oven and on the BBQ, where they’re perfect for cooking things like veggies or flaky fish so they don’t fall through the gaps of the grill, and also for when the barbie at the park is a bit dirty. Much easier to clean and dry than our first BBQ mat which is really thin and prone to tearing. I got these from our book order box at work but there are tonnes online as well.

13.01.2022 Bamboo toothbrushes and toothpaste tablets - there are soooo many options online, I like the feel of the round handle better than the flat and the multi coloured ones are good for quickly seeing whose is whose (we did try writing names on them but one kid can’t read ). I was stoked to find kid sized ones on Aliexpress and bought bulk again to avoid any last minute plastic toothbrush buying emergencies. Also handy when little sleep over friends forget to bring theirs! Unf...ortunately they haven’t figured out an efficient biodegradable bristle yet but the handle is compostable and a heck of a lot less plastic than our old toothbrushes. Popcare in New Zealand provided our toothpaste tablets in the nifty little tin which will be reused for earrings or something... the tablets are pleasantly minty without tasting sugary, and far less messy than the paste (provided you keep them out of reach of potion making 6 year olds...) They’ve been a game changer for toilet training - they’re waterproof inside so keep smells and moisture zipped in, fit an entire change of clothes, fold down really small and have a snap button strap to attach to the loop of little man’s backpack. 06.01.2022 My kids love straws, and I love that I found these groovy rainbow dudes for about $3 at Kmart, with a straw cleaner, in a BOX! No plastic packaging - so logical but logic is often lost by those big companies so brownie points to Kmart on this one. 06.01.2022 My lovely little wooden veggie brush, with plant fibre bristles, is perfect for scrubbing spuds There’s a few veggie stands that have sprung up around the place and I like to get my potatoes in a big brown paper bag from a place on Vasse Yallingup Siding Road in Marybrook, I love the honesty box system and you get a huge bag for $7 which lasts ages, and I love scrubbing the dirt off before cooking, it’s therapeutic!
