We just want to note that the key here is r...estricted airflow - it is vital that you protect your baby from the Sun using a cover that is designed for shading your pram whilst still providing adequate air circulation. Ensuring that you can see your baby and regularly checking on them is essential. We recently shared a blog, talking about the dangers of covering prams with muslin cloth in the heat - https://www.cprkids.com.au//the-dangerous-pram-mistake-to/ We have decided to do a series of tests to measure just how much the temperature can vary within a pram, in different settings. Today was just the start - with a muslin wrap blocking the sun from the baby (manikin) inside, even in very windy weather, we could see a notable climb in temperature. Start temperature in pram - 30 degrees Celsius Outside temperature - 33 degrees Celsius 10 minutes of pram being covered - 34 degrees Celsius In just 10 minutes AND with wind through the cloth circulating air within the pram, the inside temperature had become hotter than the outside temperature. Stay tuned for further testing, focusing on how high the temperature reaches inside of the covered pram without any wind or breeze.
