25.01.2022 I have run a series of professional development workshops for Year 9/10 History teachers this year. This has been offered as part of a joint project with the Virtual War Memorial. ---------------------------------------------- The Virtual War Memorial Schools Program is an exciting teaching opportunity involving a partnership between the Department for Education (SA) and Virtual War Memorial Australia. The partnership has been built around the use of the Virtual War Memorial ...for teaching and learning relating specifically to the Australian Curriculum: History in Years 9 and 10, and Civics and Citizenship at Year 10. Throughout 2019, 'Brook Educational Consultancy' and the Virtual War Memorial have been and will continue to run professional learning activities that are aligned to the national curriculum and relevant to teachers of HASS/History. As the main trainer for the day, I introduce teachers to digital storytelling, showing them how to assist students to tell the stories of service personnel through voice, text, images, audio, and video. The end product is a powerful short film in which students display their skills in both historical research and creative film-making. This is a hands-on workshop and teachers will need to provide their own computer in order to take part in activities. The professional development workshops have been run at the Adelaide Oval and have been fully catered for during the 6 hour day. These workshops are free for all participants. As part of the workshop, teachers will receive many electronic resources (royalty free music, materials for students etc) and a professional work booklet. Certificate of attendance is given to all participants at the end of the day. Photos below are showing the SACA Committee Room at the Adelaide Oval and the food provided for the day. Two workshops have been offered this year thus far, with more to come! Stay tuned!

It's going to be a great day of learning!
