23.01.2022 Feeling honoured to have made the list!

22.01.2022 BEST DAY EVER!! I have had some great days since starting Fdc.....but I think today was one of my favourites for sure! A huge thank you to Emmas Country Kids for hosting a special fire safety morning and inviting along the awesome firemen from Bowraville Fire Brigade.....what amazing people we have looking after our community! They were so great with the children and really brought home the message to the children about not being afraid of our firemen/women, what their job is and what we need to do in an emergency. All finished off with a hands on fire hose demo and a look in the big truck..... every little boys dream such a great morning! Cant wait for the next one.

22.01.2022 Wow.. so much has happened since my last post. Like everyone else March and April gave us such a crazy ride on the COVID-19 roller coaster and thankfully we feel like we are all still in one piece.. as we hold on a little longer til the ride ends. I will be forever grateful to my amazing day care families who have been so supportive the whole way through. Choosing to isolate and learn from home through such trying times while our mums and dads were still working and multit...asking to keep everyone alive. Again you guys are the best!!!! However with restrictions easing and feeling like it was safe to play again, my friends ARE back!!!! and what a fantastic transition back into care... these little heroes are truely amazing....we have a new routine with some tighter stricter hygiene controls in place. We were GOOD before but now we are SPARKLING we are the best hand washers this side of the Macksville bridge. They have settled back into care and havent missed a beat. Thanks for following us!!

Here is some of the learning fun we have been having.......through January and February.....

19.01.2022 Well with two days to go before the last day of my first year.... I thought Id better do one last post...!!!! What a ride.... huge life change for both myself and my family but absolutely no regrets!!! Ive made some new friends and added to my family. I got a little emotional and only really thought about the impact that they have had on my life whilst going through the 100s and 100s of photos and memories while preparing them for their mums and dads to take home. Fortun...ately all of my friends are coming back next year except for my friends who are heading off to big school!! I will share some more memories and look forward to checking in again when the new year begins!!! A huge thanks for taking an interest in my life and following my journey. I look forward to meeting some new friends and doing it all again next year!!! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year...xo Brooke

11.01.2022 Some of the fun weve been having over the last 7 weeks!!!! Time sure does fly.....

09.01.2022 Just like that April, May and June have been and gone. Weve had a visit from the Easter bunny, Macksville show craft, a new cubby and soft fall area and a new worm farm.... just to name a few... We all love to tend to our worms and make sure they are fed and happy and the results have been amazing!!! We are flooded with liquid gold which we have been using on our vege patch. Our families have been enjoying our silverbeet while we wait for our first tomato harvest. A little ...bit of rain over the last week left us some great muddy play leads and we have been busy with bikes, hoops, cubby play, sandpit, cooking, painting and much more. I had a moment today where I actually sat back and watched my friends playing and smiled at how special they are. Just listening to them offer a hand and a hug when things dont go to plan and their imaginations running wild with role plays and exploring how things work amazes me. Dont get me wrong we have those days where we look forward to the days end... but not often!! I am truely blessed with the best kids!! And the best job!!

08.01.2022 Just a few of our precious pets!!!! Did you know we are a mobile petting zoo. We do parties and markets!!!

08.01.2022 Feeling very much loved and appreciated on Happy Educators Day truly has made my week!!

08.01.2022 We have all been witness to the dreaded uneaten lunch at the end of the school day. Finding the sweet spot between hitting nutritional guidelines and packing so...mething your child will actually eat is a challenge. And although social media might try to convince us otherwise, a packed school lunch doesn’t have to rival the output of a great chef. School Stream has some wonderful ideas.... here are some lunchbox winners: Vegetable slice This portable snack is also a great way to cut down on food waste. Cheese stars or hearts. Or teddy bears. You choose your shape. If it’s true we eat with our eyes, cute food makes sense. Banana and bran muffins fibre-rich, nutrient-dense and delicious. Breakfast bars also known as homemade muesli bars. Just the right amount of chewy and crunchy that makes them easy for kids to eat on the run. Chia pudding prepare a big batch in advance to store in the fridge and simply decant into smaller containers for lunchbox and after-school snacks. Pikelets Pikelets are great as conduits for healthy additions like fruit. Ditch the sugar and add grated carrot and corn, cheese, or peel a zucchini and grate it in for invisible veg. Yes, hiding vegetables is a little bit sneaky but it’s for a good cause! Beet and Ricotta hummus This hot pink play on hummus is irresistibly pretty and delicious, while still being kid and teen approved. Visit their website for more ideas: https://www.schoolstream.com.au/healthy-and-delicious-eas/

08.01.2022 Back for another year of fun and good times!! We have been lucky enough to have all of our friends return to care this year... except for our oldest friend who ventured off to big school. We have been super busy welcoming and settling in our new friends... Some of our favourites this year have been water play, tapioca water beads, loose parts play dough, bikes, sandpit, picnics, painting, gardening and much more. Our days are filled with fun and adventure and programming to the childrens interests to make learning much more fun!! Thanks for following and enjoy our happy snaps!!!!

07.01.2022 A little change around today to keep things interesting and give my friends some more personal space indoors...creating some seperate play areas... with this crazy wind around we may be having a little more inside time over the next few days..Also a major clean out to freshen up and help get rid of our sniffles and winter bugs!! BRING ON SPRING!!

07.01.2022 Some interesting things in this chart. Hope you are having a great day

06.01.2022 Children need lots of unstructured #play time to benefit their developing #brains, and they tend to have a natural awareness of what they need to naturally grow... up healthy and strong. Every child develops in a particular pattern. For example, they have to be able to sit up by themselves before they can crawl and eventually walk. And this is part of why a child naturally progresses to loving swinging sensations when they are in the midst of developing coordinated motor movements. Their sensory system is ready to organise and interpret moving information, and swinging is a fun way to do that. The #proprioceptive system, located within muscles and joints, provides a child with a sense of body awareness and also detects force and pressure while they swing. Meanwhile, their developing #vestibular system, located in the inner ear, detects movement and gravitational pull. The timely development of these senses can help a child learn to calm down if they are easily overwhelmed by sensory stimulation, or can help bring alertness to a child who needs sensory stimulation to facilitate attention and learning. The balance that feels so natural to an adult is a complex process where large groups of muscles work together to maintain postural control. Its very easy to forget how much we all loved swinging when we were little, or to minimise it as frivolous play without serious and necessary developmental benefits. If your child loves to swing, try to make some extra time for them to explore this super-activity. You will be helping their little brain grow in harmony with their body, and they will love you for it. #neurochild #childdevelopment #letthemplay

06.01.2022 Today we participated in the big vege crunch the children enjoyed trying each vege, even if it was only a nibble. Our stand out favourite was the sweet corn and cucumber....and our resident bunnies enjoyed taking part also and cleaning up our leftovers.

03.01.2022 Today is National Simultaneous Storytime. At 11am we joined many children across Australia and New Zealand to read Hickory Dickory Dash which is currently our very favourite story! #NSS2018
