25.01.2022 The Brookfield Horse & Pony club wishes to announce that the stable amenities block is now refurbished and officially open at the Brookfield showgrounds. This project has been long overdue. With grateful thanks to the BCC for our "Building Stronger Communities Grant" and to all our supporters for for their commitment and financial donations to ensure that the Pony Club could get the job done. There were some very, very happy faces yesterday and looks of disbelief at the dramatic transformation. Well done BHPC for this blue ribbon effort for the community !"

25.01.2022 Wishing our super star members Claire and Emily all the best at the Ekka this week. Enjoy the ride!

23.01.2022 What a wonderful afternoon at the official opening of the newly renovated amenities block at the Brookfield Show Grounds. Thanks Brisbane City Council for the grant and Councillor Kate Richards for cutting the ribbons. A special thanks to Ros and Veronica for coordinating it all!

23.01.2022 "Junior committee member Sarah Willsford represented the Brookfield Horse and Pony Club (BHPC) when the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner visited the partially refurbished stables toilets at Brookfield Showground on ANZAC Day and, as a young member of our community, acknowledged the much needed funding from the Brisbane City Council (BCC) Building Stronger Communities Grant to refurbish them. On behalf of BHPC she thanked the Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and Pullenvale Ward Counci...llor Kate Richards, for their support for such an important upgrade to the amenities at the much loved and well used Showgrounds. She said, "This particular project will provide improved facilities to many thousands of people over the years to come. This project will enhance the Showgrounds and it has been great to observe how the community can come together to make this all possible. My father told me when he was a young boy this building was a new project constructed by local volunteers. He told me his job was to make sure that all the sawdust bins were full as there were no flushing toilets. A septic tank was then installed years later, and the building has been the same ever since. We have obviously made a substantial improvement here today. Thank you again Lord Mayor and I look forward to seeing you at the Show in a few weeks time." President Jacquie Willsford said, " The refurbishment is progressing beautifully under the guidance of Jason Richardson (local builder) and the project managers Ros MacDonald, Veronica Pichlmann and Jon Snow. Heritage Architect Harvey Russell has also donated his expertise to the design. Without BCCs generosity, or the support of these people, this project would never have got off the ground. BHPC has been fundraising for years to see this project started and a grant has helped BHPC to fulfil its vision. For our members this is a huge achievement to drive and fund this project. I must also acknowledge the Brookfield Recreational Reserve Trust, The Brookfield Show Society , Brookfield United Cricket Club, and Ambrose Tracey College for their donations and support. It is wonderful to see all the user groups, and the Trust come together to achieve one goal. As a result, BHPC is very proud to be able to bring to the residents of 4069 and surrounding communities improved and much needed facilities to the Showgrounds for generations to come." BHPC is looking forward to the official opening in June."

21.01.2022 Hi BHPC members, There are riding options that you can take advantage of as BHPC riding members during this period of isolation to keep our spirits up! You can ride on the Rita OHanlon arena in the cemetery paddock. Please use the online booking sheet and maintain your distance from other riders or other people in the cemetery paddock. You can also ride in the long yard or on the showground oval, where it is easy to maintain social distancing as there is only 1 booking allow...ed at a time. Visit the Brookfield Showground website (https://www.brookfieldshowground.com.au/) Facilities for Hire to book the Showground oval or the long yard for 1 hour as a member of BHPC. You must book at least 2 days before riding and wait for approval for your request, and will need to provide your Pony Club membership number. Only BHPC riding members are entitled to ride in those areas without any charge. You can park your float outside the Horse Parade gate or in the cemetery paddock carpark and walk your horse through the pedestrian gate at the Horse Parade entrance. Riders must respect the BHPC riding rules on the oval. No galloping, no tight fast turns, just steady work, using different parts of the oval so no area is overused. On the oval the cricket pitch is currently bunted off, but if there is no fencing, do not to ride near the cricket pitch area. Please note that there is a manure rake in the jump shed next to the trailer, you must pick up and dispose of any manure in the manure pile. No social gatherings, or groups of members are allowed, and if these rules are broken, the privilege will be taken away. The Trustees periodically check who is there and the state of the oval. If riders all respect these conditions, and pick up after themselves, everyone can enjoy this wonderful opportunity to use this space if they wish. Regards BHPC Management Committee

19.01.2022 MUSTER - 28th March 2021 Hi Brookfield Pony Club Riders, I hope you are all excited about getting together for our muster this Sunday!!! Unfortunately, with all the rain we have had the grounds are very wet and slippery. We will have to wait to see if the grounds dry out by Sunday and are safe enough for a ridden muster. The weather forecast is promising for an end to the rain!!... Plan A - ridden muster with horses.A muster timetable and rider group list will be sent out later this week. Riders come in informal uniform (Club polo shirt and beige jodhpurs/stockman's trousers). I will inspect the grounds on Saturday morning and make a decision on the muster. If the grounds are too wet and slippery, this Sunday's muster will be an unmounted 'horseless' rally. This is for the safety of our riders and the conservation of our valued grounds. Please watch out for an email and Facebook message on Saturday regarding the muster being ridden or 'horseless'. Plan B - 'horseless' wet weather muster. If the muster is 'horseless' we will have a fun and lively programme of horse related activities and games for you and a few surprises up our sleeve. So come along and meet your friends, make new friends, and immerse yourself in lots of other horsey activities without your horses. We will meet at 9.00am - on the Pony Club Canteen veranda (Groups 1, 2 and 3) or under the roof outside the Show Society bar (Groups 4, 5 & 6). We will have a morning tea break at 10.30, andfinishby12.30. Please bring something for your own morning tea, and your drink bottle. There is no need to come in Pony Club uniform if the muster is horseless. We will practice social distancing and have hand sanitiser available. Please do not attend if you or anyone in your family has any respiratory symptoms. Looking forward to seeing you at the muster on Sunday, whatever plan we have to go with. Regards Sandy Pollitt BHPC Chief Instructor Mob: 0400 952 002

19.01.2022 Important Update for Sundays Muster Hi Brookfield Horse & Pony Club members, Today our parent body Pony Club Queensland issued a strong recommendation that all Pony Club events be cancelled until the end of April.
