25.01.2022 Today I write to thank all our guests who have stayed with us over the past four years and who continue to stay with us during these extremely challenging times! We are fortunate to have family, wildlife, a fire pit, 5 acres of freedom around us, our cats and cute little dog, making self isolation a beautiful and welcoming experience. We all have a story to tell, hardships that have made us make choices we we wouldn’t have made if things had been different, hero’s who have sa...id a few small words and positively changed our lives forever without even knowing it and sadly sorrows that have taught us compassion and empathy! We’ve seen our business change with cancelation after cancelation, leaving us suffocating in debt, looming pay cuts from the one safe income we’ve relied on during the ups and downs of the gig economy and so much more! Today we have made sacrifices many westerners would believe that only those in poverty would have to endure, but we make them with pride and conviction for the greater good of our future and business! We have been through worse in our lives and are so grateful for our small piece of paradise and our amazing guests! We particularly shout out to our current guests who have chosen to stay with us longer term and ride this storm together! Below is a picture of my family. I was 14, we’d gone from entrepreneur hippy movie stars to bankruptcy, living off the land, under a tarpaulin, no electricity and only water from the creek in remote outback Australia @lorellaspringswildernesspark We made it through the difficult times, became survivors and have have always looked at the positive side of any situation! We know, in the short term, life will be different, but we will make it through! Our thoughts are with everyone during this surreal experience! Ride it with integrity and compassion and believe in tomorrow! We are very lucky that we are all in this together ... it is so much harder when you face a crisis alone! Stay safe, keep isolated as much as possible, look after the vulnerable and look after yourself and your family! Thank you to the government, banks and businesses that have stepped up to support those in need!

11.01.2022 This is Mummy! We met her when we rescued her baby, who had fallen out of a tree and been injured by a dog. For two months we worked with Mummy to help look after her chick, who was unable to fly and has missing tail feathers. Every day there were many moments of high stress as Bubba tried to survive the wild, and we tried to protect her from predators.... After 8 weeks of helping feed, water, continue to place Bubba in a nest up a tree, bring her in at night, fend off crows and cats, rescue her when she was near death from dehydration, we decided to seek the assistance from a wonderful Wildlife Carer. Being caged didn't work out as Bubba couldn't get the exercise she needed to strengthen her wings and continued to injure herself trying to get free. We the took Bubba to a local wildlife sanctuary with the understanding that they had a huge cage and that they would do a feather transplant on her damaged tail. Regrettably they put her down instead. Mummy still comes and visits us every day and remembers the help we provided. Mumma never gave up on her baby! The love and dedication she showed was truly incredible! Always watching from afar, swooping in just a the crowd came to take her baby, feeding worms and bugs to her chick, accepting food from us, to feed her Bubba. Birds are so clever and such beautiful souls. They have feelings like humans do and incredible memories! 05.01.2022 QLD State Covid19 restrictions have been lifted further and Queenslanders are now able to travel across the state. In the 70’s during our family adventures, we came across The Big Pineapple in Northern QLD! As a youngster I was blown away with the size of the huge pineapple and the train ride around the fields also created a lasting impression.... A few years ago we looked her up on the map and revisited the iconic pineapple. It wasn’t quite the same as I remembered, but I loved the day out sharing childhood memories with my kids! So pleased to see the iconic pineapple was added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 2009! 02.01.2022 Lone Pine Koala Sanctury is opening again today! One of our favourite places to visit and so very close! When we have family and friends stay with us, we always head to the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary for a day out. Season passes are also great if you live local and are looking for a wonderful way to educate and inspire the younger family members.

02.01.2022 Growing up my mother had no money as she was trying to raise 7 children alone, working as a cleaner. I remember the fly screens being torn for years as she had no money to fix them and didn't know how! When we bought Brookfield Retreat, I had no idea how to change fly screens either and we had tears for a long time, until I paid hundreds of dollars to replace the fly screens. A while back, I found a YouTube video and sent it to a handyman and asked if he could replace my fly ...screens, and he said yes. I bought all the material, set it up, showed him the video (he'd never done it before either), watched and took the lead on the job, and then paid him a significant amount of money, and wondered why. I realised it was because I didn't have the confidence to try it alone. Today I've done the entire job myself! It's worked out fine and saved me a lot of money. Yaaa, new life skill!
