23.01.2022 Worrisome Wooster Wooster presented to Dr Max after being unwell and vomiting . Max performed radiographs which revealed Wooster had eaten something with buttons on it . Max then removed an entire baby bib from Woosters stomach.Wooster was back to his happy self but then just over a week later he stared vomiting again . We were all concerned what could be going on ? On ultrasound it looked like he had another Foreign body this time in his intestines. Sure enough he had now eaten an entire sock which Dr Cath and Dr Kirsty removed from his small intestines . Wooster recovered well from his two surgeries but poor Woosters wonderful owners certainly have to keep a close eye on their clothes eating beagle .

10.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW Just like humans, dogs can also donate blood! In some circumstances, a critically ill patient may require a life-saving blood transfusion. Fortunately, here at Brookfield Vets, we have a wonderful group of dogs who are willing to donate their blood. However, we are needing a few more heroic canines who can join our program! To be eligible for the program, your dog needs to fulfill certain criteria in order to safely donate blood. This includes: ... Aged between 1 and 7 years old Weigh more than 25kg (the larger breeds are best) Must be in a healthy weight range Have a great temperament and be able to lay still for 10-15 minutes (some may require a mild sedative) Not a jet setter i.e never been out of Australia or through quarantine Be up to date on all vaccinations (C5) and heartworm prevention (annual injection) Be fit and healthy, and pass our physical examination and blood test Not be on any medication Never have received a blood transfusion We are very grateful for all our donors and as a thank you, we will provide a complimentary physical examination on the day and a FREE annual vaccination and health check when he/she is due. Your dog will also receive a delicious pigs ear and plentiful amounts of cuddles on the day! 07.01.2022 MORRIS & PEGGY These sweet siblings were recently at the clinic to undergo their desexing procedures. When fully recovered from the anaesthesia and were able to reunite after their surgeries, they were so adorable and supported each other by snuggling up to one another! Did you know that by desexing your pet it can help give them a longer and healthier life by providing them with advantageous health benefits?? ... For females it can help reduce the risk of mammary tumors and a life threatening condition known as pyometra (infection of the uterus). For males, it can lower the risk of prostate disease, testicular cancer and perianal conditions. We are so happy knowing that wonderful animals - like Morris and Peggy - will be significantly less likely to be affected by these conditions! If you are considering having your pet desexed and have any questions regarding the procedure, please feel free to contact the team on (07)3374 1447.
