18.01.2022 February does have one important date, namely Valentine's Day TODAY! Boys, remember to buy a big bunch of flowers, chocolates and book a table for two at a fine Restaurant. Do not forget !!... You may be interested to know that Valentine's Day was not invented by our Commercial Sector. The Romans started it, but called it the Festival of Lupercella. On this day brides were selected by lottery. Young men could use this service to marry in a hurry and thereby avoid conscription into the Roman Army. It was later changed to Saint Valetine's day, to change it from a pagan to a christian festival. Apparently Valentine's Day reached the USA in the 18th century, but without the lottery based bride selection, nor the avoidance of conscription into the US army. However Americans do give red roses to celebrate this day. Anyway, have a happy February 2020.
