05.01.2022 Got the letter last week and today its front page news -- our apprentices must purchase clothing just for TAFE studies which is long shirt long pants -- We supply them with a uniform and give them the option of long or short like I said the option they all chose short sleeve. Some one in the TAFE system has decided different for safety reasons -- this is a load of crock in our work enviroment. Having spent 20 odd years in mining and 30 in the retail sector around mechanical I... cannot remember 1 injury caused by short sleeve except for sunburn but have found about 40 that were caused by long sleeves being caught in rotating machines so go figure that out, safer no way maybe someone trying to look important came up with this stupid idea not sure but probably. The apprentices are on a low wage and are being forced to purchase clothing they dont require in there normal work place --- Gotta love Goverment decisions NOT See more
