25.01.2022 Congratulations to our 2020 leadership group ( L-R ) co Captain Tim Gray, Coach Trent Moschion, and co Captain Craig Smith plus all our Committee members that unanimously got voted in without shaking hands. Up the Pearlers.

25.01.2022 To the Pearlers faithful, lets remember our fallen heros this ANZAC day. LEST WE FORGET Well bugger me sideways and let me loose on the cat next door. If you want some merchandise well here it is in action, our CEO of all things, our newly appointed Coach has done bugger all and worn our newly appointed fishing shirt and pretended to fish. No one has ever caught a fish in Pearer history apart from the one that got away, and to forget to remember about the one they caught. A...mazing. Our Newly appointed Coach slammed down some Divers feed, Uncle Duncan fucked up the tides, someone got keen and lit a fire in wet season and really got fucked up and did something weird with a Pearlers shirt. There was some mumerings that blokes were bike riding to keep their fitness up.................. By the way lets remember our fallen heros this ANZAC day See more

25.01.2022 Thanks to the Pearlers welcoming committee for an outstanding job helping out at the 2020 Broome Rodeo gates yesterday. Thanks to Duncan for organising and providing food and refreshments for the lads during our stint. We assisted in the exchange of money, ticket sales, gate control, traffic signalling, thorough ID checks, and general good humoured assistance. Christian and Timmy were somewhat dismayed at one local who turned up wearing a black t-shirt, black jeans and black thongs on a hot, dusty oppressive day while promoting a fragrance of toothpaste and a dozen bush chooks. But by this stage of the afternoon it was all to common and he was allowed entry. A good afternoon and thanks again. GiddyUp the Pearlers

25.01.2022 Dear Pearlers, After weeks of tense negotiations the AFL has given the go ahead for the Pearlers Friday night scratch match. The AFL could not deny us any longer, given that we have managed COVID-19 better than Essendon whose player has given a negative/positive result. The supporter turn out has promised to be bigger than a home Gold Coast Game v Collingwood. The news was a bit of a surprise to the coach Mosh, who reacted by saying "nobody told me we were having scratchie" S...o if you are feeling a bit like Mosh here are details; When: Bounce down 5:30pm so get to the ground at 5pm for warm up and team selection Where: BRAC What: AFL 9s scratchie Its the perfect time for the new comers to press for selection into the powerful juggernaut that is The Pearlers Sporting Club. On a serious note, please remember we are still operating in a COVID-19 environment so if you are feeling unwell or under done do not attend. For those attending, bring your own drink bottle. Also, if you are bringing family / friends we ask that everyone abides by current social distancing rules. Lastly, hand sanitiser will be available for those wanting a rub down by Gaz and we ask that you sign a register. PS, the register is a requirement of who played and not who Gaz touched. So get down to BRAC for Friday Night Football. Up the Pearlers

23.01.2022 Dear Pearlers, Thanks to everyone who showed up for Friday nights intra-club match. A small turn out suggested that many were already downing a few tins and warming there backsides against a raging 44 gallon fire pit. Those that were there made the most of the small numbers and conditions. We were bolstered by a few young fellas who were backing up after their Friday nights junior competition. Good on them aswell as they provided some entertainment. But it was the older br...igade that were turning back the years. Uncle Duncan still has bragging rights in the Thorne household after stealth like prowess in a bludgering tackle against Darcy on the wing in what was the highlight of the game. But it was another old boiler who stole the show. After coming of a 6 year hamstring strain it was Scotty Hill that turned the clock back to his reserve playing days in the sleepy Tasmanian town of New Norfolk rampaging around the half forward line showing plenty which earned him the most sort after gong, the coveted Golden Stubby Award. Well done Scotty. Another honorable mention was Queen Kerrys arrival for her first game for the Pearlers. After training with the group on a few Tuesdays she showed that gender was no barrier and subsequently ripped into us for not giving her respect. That was put to bed late in the game and Uncle Duncan rammed her into the hallowed Father Mac turf. Look forward to Port Hedland in a couple of weeks. Up the Pearlers See more

22.01.2022 To the Pearler faithful, Congratulations to our B-grade cricket side for making the Grand Final. After 7 years of Preliminary final defeats the side has finally reached the big dance. With a steady balanced side consisting of batsmen, bowlers and a wicket keeper it was in typical Pearler fashion the side was dependent on another result going their way to sneak into top spot and avoid a knock out final. ... Close friend and bookmaker Baaruum Kriticar-Mandeep said yesterday that he was looking forward to watching the final from his hotel room prior to holidaying back in his homeland. Betting on the final has been only known to a few so they say and the contents of the alusive punters club brown bag is being divided up from a house in Parramatta and should the Pearlers win will be the biggest haul in history. With weather going to play a pivotal role in this Saturday's final the Pearlers might win the flag without a ball being bowled. So come down and support the Broome Pearlers cricket side and be a part of history When : Saturday 28th November Time : 10:00 Where : Nipper Roe at BRAC

22.01.2022 Well its Friday, and youre in lockdown, you cant cook for shit and burning water is your thing, well ring up a big supporter of the club and smash down a few pizzas. Cheers to Dominos for their backing for the Broome Pearlers. And here is Pearler Gaz busting out a rendition of Stevie Wonders - Isnt She Lovely. Thanks to Coach Trent and Jmo for getting Gaz in character. Up the Pearlers.

22.01.2022 Dear Pearlers, another Intra-club game will be held under lights at Father Mac at BRAC next Friday 24th of July, 5:30 for a 6:00 start. BBQ and refreshments to follow game. Our current Golden Stubby Holder winner Fanta has not been seen since our last intra-club game and concerns are building that no-one has lead the young man astray on the finer points of having such an award. You win it and as long as you have it with you another Pearler has to buy a beer for you. What a ...great incentive to save money. So get down for next week. In other news our neighbours in sunny Port Hedland are making there way to Broome for a game on the 15th of August now that restrictions have been lifted. More news to come on times. And dont forget our membership fees have gone down to $50, so if you have been training please support the Pearlers. Training is also underway for the B-grade cricket season. Plenty going on so watch this space for updates. Up the Pearlers See more

21.01.2022 Dear Pearlers, cheers for everyone for turning up for our official rebirth of the 2020 season. After a few weeks of plague training it was a intraclub 9s game. A guy called sheep, a young person who looked pretty good for 35 won awards for their efforts on field, but it was Matty from Recharge who won the coveted Golden Stubby Award for his sublime skills on the park. So if you see Matty around the place just walk the other way and wave. Thanks to Dominos pizza for their kind donation to feed the Pearlers group after the game. See you next week. Up the Pearlers

20.01.2022 Dear Pearlers, a quick shout out to Monique from Yogamon who took some time out of her busy schedule to give us old boys some super tips about stretching our stiff bodies on Tuesday night training. If you think that this would be beneficial for you and require further work Monique has a Blokes Yoga class at BRAC on Thursday afternoons from 5pm. Thanks again Mon and hope to see you again on the Pearlers training track. Up the Pearlers

19.01.2022 Dear Pearlers After our game on the weekend Tomorrows training will be the Annual Tour De Broome bike ride. Our start is Father Mac at BRAC 1700 as usual. Our scenic course shouldnt pose any problems for even a novice rider, with no hill climbs even considered. Bring a few bucks to cover a few refreshments with stops to see the sites of this glorious town. A few more dollars if a stop at any of our water holes is needed.... Helmets and lights compulsory, fancy dress and unique bike set up applauded and PLEASE NO LYCRA as you will offend. Wadey will accompany us through the tour offering encouragement. Any queries please call Duncan 0448 320 599 Up the Pearlers

19.01.2022 Dear followers, In breaking news the President has called for calm amongst the playing group after alleged corruption allegations that would see the Pearlers crumble into obscurity. " We take this type of sly counting seriously " he said. After the last couple of weeks under the plague restrictions a head count had 19.8 players at training down to 19.6 and many of us attempting to remember primary school maths thus breaching the 20 on numbers. The Victorian Police Corruption ... department were notified and dismissed the claims as someone dibby dobbing to officials. An investigation into the matter is under way and the culprit will be dealt a mr phonebook style talking to in a quiet corner of the oval. In other news Co Captain Miff is recovering well after his training mishap claiming he was excited about holding two beers simultaneously. Hope to see you down this Tuesday. Up the Pearlers See more

18.01.2022 Game Day : Today Broome Pearlers v Port Hedland Flatback Turtles Where : Father Mac at BRAC ... Time : 12 noon for a warm up and 1230 bounce down BBQ and some refreshments provided. Get down and support local footy. Up the Pearlers

18.01.2022 After several weeks of quarantine, The Port Hedland Flatback Turtles have given the OK to enter the Broome hub. Of interest the Turtles have opted to leave their wives, girlfriends and family at home, stating they wanted to be 100% focussed and do not need the distraction of fines due to someone having their eyebrows done. Broome Pearlers coach Moshy thinks that this is a tactical move to maintain their pretty boy image. Banter aside it is a great day and held in good spirits.... The game is about fun and a laugh. So dont worry if you havent trained or unfit its just about giving it a crack. So bring family and friends along to show some support for The Turtles who have travelled up the coast. Game : Broome Pearlers v Port Hedland Flatback Turtles When : This Saturday 15th Where : Father Mac at BRAC Time : 12 noon with a 12:30 bounce down BBQ and some refreshments provided So if you feel like giving the pretty Port Hedland boys a touch up head down. Up the Pearlers

18.01.2022 G,Day Pearlers, Tuesdays training will be a intra-club match. Please bring along a Pearlers Blue and Original footy jumper if you have one. Our esteemed Coach wants to keep up our intensity program running into the hot end of the season and doesnt want us slacking off just because we blew the Turtles out of the park a few weeks ago. The Golden Stubby Holder will be up for grabs if we can prize it away from big Kevs hands. I would say he would happily give it back as his han...gover hasnt subsided from the Port Hedland game. Dont forget our wind up night. Tickets on sale now. Please contact our email [email protected]

17.01.2022 Hello Pearlers, with the upcoming training sessions and season upon us we do ask everyone to bring there own water bottles for the foreseable future. Someone just didnt wash their hands. Yes thats right we are not babysitting you for not bringing a water bottle. In other news the Pearlers have reached 400% membership. A whopping 4 members are officially registered. Great work. Hope to see you Tuesdays 5:30pm at BRAC. Up the Pearlers.

17.01.2022 To Pearlers, its with a heavy heart that big Gill from AFL headquarters has officially shut us down, yes thats right. We are just to big. During Pearler crisis talks where only 4 committee members turned up due to the social distancing inforced by ScoMo we agreed to close. If you are feeling down about the season dont worry there is a special on down at the local hardware store (pictured). However if you need to contact us regarding really important stuff feel free to cont...act Duncan Thorne 0448 320 599 Christian Joder 0407 473 014 [email protected] We will endeavour to keep you posted on the year and if you see a fellow Pearler around town pester them for info on whats going to happen next. In other news Jmo was spotted secretly leaving Broome with a undisclosed amount of money in a brown paper bag, if anyone knows any information on the betting club scandal we will give you his address and bank account details. Up the Pearlers.

15.01.2022 Dont forget to get down to Gantheume Point training session tomorrow Saturday 8am or thereabouts, BBQ Breakfast and a few tins afterwards, our AGM including the fight club rematch between SonnyBill dog and Luke dog both weighing in at 55 pounds, should be a profitable morning for some. Im bringing the kids for that one. Hope to see you all there

14.01.2022 One of your better write ups Duncan. A memorable win!

14.01.2022 To Pearlers, we say BonVoyage to big Jonno Lauro who is moving down the coast a little bit far away. Jonno was always able to help out in organising the Trailer, helping out around the club and basically annoying the shit out of everyone. The "back in Geraldton" ambassador is moving due to his missus targeting a career in a shop. Here is Gaz Vickery having a beer with Jonno making sure he is leaving town. Jonno and Cherie with a second John Morrison Cup. Good onya and good luck

13.01.2022 Due to the current health crises, we will be playing our games with no crowds until further notice.

13.01.2022 To the Pearler faithful, We have won. Yes, that's right ladies and gentlemen the Broome Pearlers have won some silverware. The team have triumphed in winning the Roebuck Primary School Quiz night in emphatic come from behind win.... No-one gave us a chance sitting on table number 13 at the back of the room in diminished lighting and a pen frequently drying out on wet paper. The questions came and we answered with stoic confidence and made Einstein quiver in his scientific slippers. With the only woman on the team making a difference and a bunch of clowns looking like professors with a phd in economics with teacher shirts on, we had it covered. The win has put us in esteemed company being the only one to win the quiz in it's first year. Well done to the Broome Pearlers brains trust in achieving such a monumental challenge against pretty ordinary opposition of highly regarded esteemed middle class snobbery and a teaching team that resembled ' A weekend at Bernie's '. In scenes of the 1966 grand final and Steve Bradbury's win in Atlanta 1988 it was all glory all the way. Team Captain praised himself on getting the Nemo film questions right and someone getting the drinks on time, it was a happy team on lucky table 13, Congratulations to all Up the Pearlers

12.01.2022 It was great to see a few Pearlers get on the track on Tuesday with our new Coach unveiling his training regime. With ten eager participants on the ground the group was salivating at the thought of kicking and handballing for the first time since the dreaded plague brought a standstill to the season. Well, in Pearlers style nothing much has changed. In a few run throughs and some ground ball control that would make any AFL player blush it was an early call on our first night of 2020, but Big Kev had other ideas and claimed elder rights and demanded another drill from the group. While we all granted his wish he somewhat disappeared and wandered over to the esky. This week we can train up to 20 people. Hope to see you down at BRAC this Tuesday 19th of May. A couple of Pearlers have been doing there bit in the lockdown.

12.01.2022 Hi Pearlers, The Rodeo is on this Saturday and the Pearlers are often helping out at the entry gate. If anyone is available to offer their services from 1pm please contact our own Duncan Thorne 0448 320 599 Giddyup Pearlers

12.01.2022 Hi Pearlers Footy training on the beach at Gantheume Point at 8am this Saturday. Bring a mate. Bring the family. All welcome. Gaz will cook you breakfast again. AGM will be held after training (probs about 8:10 judging by the look of some of the blokes). Tuesday night training 5:30 at BRAC beginning 17 March. Try to get there 5:00 to lace up run a couple of warm up laps and adjust your corset before Moshy puts you through your paces.... Give us a call, email us or even post a letter if you have any questions regarding the 2020 season, we may not be able to answer them. Up the Pearlers. 10.01.2022 FLASHBACK FRIDAY Were going back to early 2003 this week, when the fishing vessel High Aim Six was found floating off Broome with no-one on board. There were plans to have the ship scuttled to be used as an artificial reef or tourist attraction, but in the end it went to tip.

09.01.2022 To Pearlers young and old, The winter rains didnt stop our first official training run on Tuesday evening with 20 running onto Father Mac oval to drizzly slippery conditions. Familiar faces returned with smiles on faces eager to impress. With Coach Moshy putting us through our paces and his own for that matter, we were surprised at our skill and high precision football techniques backed up by our clean hands (no pun intended) and running abilities. The group thrived in soggy... conditions reminiscent of a cold wintery afternoon at Waverley Park albeit 30 degrees warmer. The group was full of confidence until co-captain Miff split his hand in two attempting a screamer at centre half forward and then impressive new comer Dunno blew his calf off the bone sprinting to receive an errant handball. Good-luck in recovery guys. Hope to see you next week Tuesday 4:45 with some new and old fellas as we continue our 2020 season. Up the Pearlers. See more

08.01.2022 Just a bit of information about what our resumption of the 2020 season will look like over the coming weeks. Up the Pearlers

07.01.2022 So all the Pearlers are in quarantine then well never fear. A big shout out to Divers Tavern, a valued sponsor of the Pearlers. Here is a picture of your take away ribs keeping President Christian in prime condition while the season is on hold. Thats what he reckons anyway. The other photo is him being masculine in a pink and blue lycra onesie rallying the troops at the recent Swapathalon. Some mixed messages there. Come on Pearlers show your support and smash a rack for Thursday night pie night. Up the Pearlers

06.01.2022 A tight table at the top! Who are you backing to take 6+ poles this weekend?

06.01.2022 Dear Pearlers Thanks to everyone that participated in Tuesdays intra-club match. Some New faces aswell which kept the older lads on their toes. Our new Golden Stubby Award for best afield was stalwart David Burke who showed some tenacity and silky skills throughout the game. Burkey has a long time affiliation with sleeping on his couch, this is him all tuckered out below. So if you see him sleeping on yours dont ring the cops, wake him up and give the man a beer. Well done... Burkey. Dont forget our wind up night aswell September 19th at the Surf Club 4:00 pm. Tickets $50 and on sale now so get a crew together. [email protected] Up the Pearlers

06.01.2022 G,day to the Pearler faithful, You might be thinking this is a photo of another spirited start of an outlandish drinking session, well you're probably right, but not before a long haul 35.8km bike ride from the coastal town of Broome to the inland Roebuck Roadhouse. The Broome Pearlers ' Kimberley Wheelmen' have had their wheels in motion since the dreaded Covid hit. With weekly runs ( sometimes when we can be bothered ) to the Port of Broome, indulging in a coffee, life c...hanging conversations and chortling jokes about the Spanish inquisition. Footy was limited and something had to be done to keep our old weary bodies from collapsing in a screaming heap of wrinkles and bad body odour. The Kimberley Wheelmen was born. A compact crew has been peddling away for months culminating in this " Tour de Highway ". With many thinking the trip would be treacherous with road trains and abuse from passers-by the group did it with ease ably assisted with a breezy tailwind. Luckily the group had their personalised support crew pick them up after a cracking feed and some crispy cold beers. Up the Pearlers

05.01.2022 Dear the Broome Pearlers Faithful, I hope you and your families have been doing well during this difficult self isolating time. Restrications are easing but we are still waiting for an indication when training may return, there is nothing stopping the playing group on their individual programs. Word on the street there has been a PB broken during this time, with one focused individual cracking 50 reps in one session. The door open, door close, wrist twist, arm lift, arm lower..., can crush repetition will making any non-professional struggle. I also hear that this individual threw in a bladder hold to work on their 6 pack at the same time. Very impressive. For the less intense, our sponsors are still there and any support we can give them will be greatly appreciated. For this Bully from the Cable Beach Club has designed a tailored program. Ride to the sunset bar, (those returning from post season ops can drive), do one squat into a chair and enjoy some of the Clubs delicious food. He has also organised cold beverages for you and family to hydrate through the session. You can start planning the next work out. Coach Moshy is also doing his part, and threatening people sorry encouraging people to get out. We still have the Pearlers fishing shirts ($60) and singlets ($45) available, so get one and go fishing or boating. Please note, the fishing shirts have been designed to be slimming. This is great for people who have not been as strict during this self isolation time but want to look like they have still been training or just look the part. And lastly, well done to our own Broome Pearler Sam "Russian" Alexeeff for getting his mug in the local paper with a Pearlers shirt on and being appointed WKAFL president. He was even called Mr in the Broome Advertiser. Russian if there is a next time, let us know and we will fit you out in the latest gear. You may not need the slimming shirt but a newer less Retro one which doesnt look like it came from a charity shop might help with the image. Check out the full back page spread or broomead.com.au Dont forget to get in touch with a Pearler you havent seen for a while and see how they are going, Up the Pearlers

04.01.2022 Dear Pearlers, The end of the season is drawing to a close, with our last run on Tuesday night training being our final intra-club match we encourage everyone who has been a part of the covid interrupted season to pop down and either have a run around or have a chin wag around the trailer. Its been a challenging year and we have had plenty of new arrivals to the Pearlers which is exciting for the future of the club. A special shout out to The Port Hedland Flat Back Turtles ...who came up for our annual match. We also give credit to all our Committee members who have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to make it work on a professional level and some continuing to do so in our B-grade cricket side. In other news tickets are selling fast for our 2020 season wind up on Saturday the 19th of September from 4pm at the Broome Surf Club. Tickets are $50 for adults and kids are free (parental supervision of course). Plenty of prizes up for grabs and our infamous reverse draw. Send your interest to our email address [email protected] Well done to our new Coach Trent Moshcian in his inaugural season and he admits that he is excited about next year as seen here performing his 2020 Covid trademark special dance pose, hopefully he can pull out the move next week for the season finale. Hope to see you all next week Up the Pearlers

04.01.2022 Dear Pearlers, Well done to our B-grade cricket side back to the winners list in style. It must be the new shirts. Well done to Sean "Funky" Fernandez for his first win as Captain ably assisted by Vice Scotty Hill. Young newcomer Troy Douglas cemented his status in Pearlers folklore with man of the match smashing 32 runs and a bowling stint of 6/18. A pretty good performance to say the least. He was backed up by some good batting and bowling. Unfortunately the day was soured with Darcy Hegarty blowing a quad sprinting for runs, good luck with recovery. Let's keep up the good work Up the Pearlers

03.01.2022 Dear Pearlers Congratulations to the Club and to our own Duncan Thorne for there nominations in the 2020 Broome Sports Awards for Best Club and Volunteer of the year awards respectively. Uncle Duncan has been a part of the Broome Pearlers Club since it's inception and on the committee as the secretary for all that time aswell. He has put in loads of time scratching his head with members stupid ideas and seen them grow into more juvenile old men with outlandish demands, ridic...ulous statements and childlike humour that would make Barnaby Choice blush. He said " Everyone in the Club is a valued member and makes it one of the best Cults in the country " Well done our grand old secretary Uncle Duncan and the Club as a whole Up the Pearlers

Come down and have a run with us as we prepare ourselves for the Port Hedland clash in a few weeks. As the price of commodities goes up the Pearlers production department cant get there hands on cheap gold to plate the stubby holders for the Best on Ground on game day, in a passioned plea from the Coach, " if you see one or know of someone whos got one, please (FFS) bring it down, you might get a beer in it or if you play well " See you tonight.
