19.01.2022 BREAKING: The good news week for Broome just keeps on rolling in. Today Premier Mark McGowan & Alannah MacTiernan, Minister for Regional Development, both visited Broome to announce that the State Government will commit $35 million to the long awaited ENTRANCE POINT SAFE BOATING FACILITY. Premier McGowan said today ... "The Council has a very good plan, the State Government will put $35 million towards that and obviously seek Commonwealth and other funding as well, that will ...mean there is proper boat ramps, proper facilities, decent structures to protect our boating community and it will be great for tourists and locals alike. This will be a significant upgrade to the facilities, this is exactly what the Council has asked for and exactly what we are delivering." ADDING to the great news above is confirmation from the #broomeshire that construction of the $6 million, 110-metre Town Beach jetty and groyne promenade (pictured below) will commence the week of January 18, with the jetty expected to be completed by August 2021 with this exciting project the final stage of the #TownBeach precinct’s redevelopment. 04.01.2022 WA Government yesterday announced a DELAY to the easing of Phase 5 restrictions. Following is an excerpt from Premiere McGowans announcement ... "Im sure this wont come as much of a surprise, but weve delayed the tentative start date for Phase 5 by at least a further two weeks. While our State has an outstanding record on containing cases of COVID-19 to travellers in hotel quarantine, and a strong testing regime, we simply must remain cautious with these decisions as we... have all through this process. As a nation, we are on high-alert. There is no need to take unnecessary risks. We will continue to monitor the situation in other States, and we will make the decision to proceed to Phase 5 when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, lets all remain vigilant - maintaining good personal hygiene, keeping a distance from others where possible, staying home when sick and getting tested if you have symptoms."
