25.01.2022 From 30 March 2020, a Medicare payment is available for telehealth (video-conference) and phone consultation items for ALL Australians, not limited to those over 70 or with a chronic health condition. Broughton Clinic is trying to minimse the number of people needing to spend time in the clinic and the waiting room so if your consultation can be done over the phone or video we would prefer to do it this way. We now have a supply of flu immunisations in stock for those over 65, or under 5, or with a chronic health condition and will be offering carpark consultations for this to keep people out of the clinic. Please plan to be seated with your preferred arm closest to the window and with a sleeveless or loose fitting short sleeved top!

21.01.2022 It is normal to feel anxious at a time like this, and children may pick up on how you are feeling. We've developed some simple tips to help parents, educators and carers on how to help kids understand the #COVID19AU situation. Be kind. Be open. Love.

20.01.2022 This is why our behaviour in the next few days/weeks is so important...

19.01.2022 Pop over to Pirie, Wallaroo or Clare on Saturday to grab a covid vaccine if you haven’t yet made it happen!

18.01.2022 Mask wearing in health settings will be mandated from December 1st. Broughton Clinic encourages everyone who is able, to wear a mask when you come to the Clinic from today. If you are unable to wear a mask, please advise the staff and we will see you in the car park or do a phone consultation.

17.01.2022 Some information from the World Health Organisation on the topic of social distancing. A traffic light guide to what you should and should not be doing.

16.01.2022 We have been advised that there will be an automatic 6 month extension on drivers licence medicals so we would encourage you to delay coming to the clinic to get this completed.

15.01.2022 Broughton Clinic is trying to do what it can to minimise the number of patients needing to physically spend time in the waiting room at the clinic. While we are normally not able to bill Medicare for phone or video consultations this is now available and may be offered to you when you make an appointment. Phone consults are currently limited to those in isolation, those over 70 years of age, those with a chronic health condition, pregnant women and those with a child under 12... months. We can accommodate those outside this group for a consult but a private fee will apply (Edited- next week teleconsulting will be available on Medicare for all). Some repeat prescriptions will be written for a fee of $15. Our reception staff will do their best to guide you to the best option so please be understanding of the circumstances. Home visits are available although we are trying to minimise our contact with as many people as possible. We are also looking at the best means of managing to administer the free flu needles to those over 65 or with a chronic health condition. We will probably offer a quick carpark visit for this to keep the number of people in the waiting room to a minimum. We are expecting our flu needles next week but will not be able to make appointments for this until we know what stock we have available. See more

13.01.2022 EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY all people entering South Australia must isolate for 14-days from their arrival. This applies to South Australians, other Australians and ...other travellers, and will be supported by border control from Tuesday 24 March at 4pm. Exemptions will apply for essential transport including health and medical supplies, health personnel and patients, food and commercial supply chains (i.e. the carrying of goods), healthcare workers, near border interactions, travel of a relative/carer of a dependant individual, and for emergency services. Other travellers (for example fly-in-fly-out workers in the mining industry or national level sporting teams) could be exempt from this provision provided they had approved disease control mechanisms in place. The criteria for testing for COVID-19 has been expanded in South Australia from today to include anyone who has travelled from interstate in the last seven days and have new respiratory symptoms. Please only present for testing if you fulfill the criteria: You have travelled overseas in the past 14 days AND have symptoms. You have travelled interstate in the past 7 days AND have new respiratory symptoms. You have been in contact with a confirmed case AND have symptoms. You are a healthcare worker with direct patient contact AND have a fever (37.5) AND an acute respiratory infection (e.g. shortness of breath, cough, sore throat). South Australia Police will continue to conduct random checks to ensure those required to self-isolate are doing so. 02.01.2022 You will all be aware that the state government has moved to enforce a 6-day lock down and is restricting non essential travel and visits. Fortunately as of 18/11/20 we have no evidence of cases in our region and we are not considered a hot spot. At this stage, Broughton Clinic will continue to provide services to the community; we ask those with appointments to consider a telephone consult, if appropriate. Please contact reception staff to discuss. If you are experiencing... cold/flu like symptoms Including runny nose, sore throat, cough or fever please stay at home and contact us for further advice. If you don’t have symptoms and have been to any of the at risk sites in the SA Health list, please call the SA COVID-19 Information Line on 1800 253 787 from 9.00am to 5.00pm, 7 days. There is information on the SA Health website also. We ask you to please be patient with our staff during these tough times and know that we are doing our best to accommodate your needs. For our patients, we ask that you bring and wear a mask or a scarf if you have a face to face appointment from Thursday 19th November. Unfortunately we have a limited supply of face masks, so will not be able to supply you with a mask. If appropriate, please remember you can change your appointment to a telephone or video consult instead. We will get through this together. Stay safe and hopefully this will only need to be 6 days of hard lockdown.

01.01.2022 To ensure everyone stays healthy during the pandemic, it is essential people still attend important medical appointments to manage their health conditions. Whet...her you have a chronic health condition or an acute illness, GP practices and Emergency Departments are safe to attend and are still open for those seeking medical help when they need it. Those with chronic conditions should maintain contact with their GP, even if it’s just for a phone consult If you are concerned about exposure to COVID-19, speak with your healthcare provider about the options available to you, which may include telehealth appointments or home visits. Keep well and keep connected with your GP or treating clinician. www.sahealth.sa.gov.au/keepingwell
