25.01.2022 Take care on the path down to the creek - big tree has fallen and blocked the path.

25.01.2022 This year we have had fire, smoke, ash, rain and now we face isolation. Nevertheless, the spirit that has made the event part of the culture in the district continues in individual efforts of many. Over the 13 years of its existence there has been many thousands of people from all parts of Australia and overseas participate. On our records, we have had 212 people having done more than 20 runs. Included in this total are 40 people that have done more than 100 runs. Because ...of the need to exercise near home, card carrying Broulee Runners are recommended to find a 2, or 3.5- or 5-kilometre course in their location and record an individual time over one of these distances. Their results can be sent via Facebook, text or Email and they will then become part of the history of the event. The eligibility to become a card-carrying member is to have done at least one run over the hallowed track starting from the anchor. It is very special to see 5-year-old Jye Barbara complete his 30 runs and receive his shirt. He always competes with great enthusiasm and it difficult to stop him at the finish of his 2 kilometres. 2 Kilometres Mollie Kennedy 8.40 Declan McPherson 9.40 Samson Kennedy 10.08 Anna Johnson 13.27 Emma Kennedy 18.36 Molly Johnson 19.20 Nellie Johnson 19.22 Victoria Fleming 20.15 Nina McPherson 20.22 Michelle McPherson 20.30 Jye Barbara 23.05 Helen Okey 23.20 3.5 Kilometres Ross Wilson 18.30 Bernie Lambert 18.42 Pauline Hicks 29.01 David McCann 30.16 Richard Fisher 32.18 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 18.44 Matt Edenborough 19.11 Matt Lambert 20.51 David Hosking 20.53 Josh Connaughton 21.17 Bede webster 21.40 Matt Johnsen 21.45 Dave Connaughton 24.32 Ellen Hosking 24.45 Prue Woodford 25.04 Paige Connaughton 25.53 Andrew McPherson 27.02 Michael Lambert 27.48 Deb Connaughton 27.57 Mary Anderson 28.05 John Hicks 30.46 Julianne Domeny 33.31 Mike Kennedy 37.05 Robyn Kennedy 43.41

24.01.2022 We are at week 13 of our Run Isolated Broulee. The Government is relaxing restrictions on sporting activities and will release further guidelines. Once these are known, the working team of the Runners will get together and come up with a plan of how best to start coming together. It may be staggered starts. However, we will notify everyone once a strategy is decided. All suggestions from our card-carrying members will be appreciated. Mollie Kennedy (pictured) is the star... of this week having reached the 30-run mile stone. She is an up and coming young athlete. She won her school cross country and she came 3rd in the 13-year-old age group in the Canberra Virtual Cross-Country Championship in which 500 students from 44 schools entered. 24.01.2022 This is week 12 of the run isolated Broulee and it hoped that with the restrictions being relaxed in the number of areas, we may be able to get together in some form in the near future. This week we want to feature the many women, who have and are participating on a regular basis and contribute much to the success of the event. The event attracts many women, who have joined for various reasons and have passed the 100 runs mark. Some are experienced athletes like Jill Brown, ...who is part of record-breaking team in track events. Jo Flood, who has been top woman in the Town to Surf fun run, marathon runner Liza Martini and triathlete Kim Young and professional trainers in Paige and Deb Connaughton. More importantly are those who come for the exercise and friendship and the stand outs are Annie Johnsen, Victoria Fleming, Roz Hayward, Julianne Domeny, Robyn Kennedy and Kathryn Jeffery. One who always impresses is our Special Olympics representative Carissa Morgan, who has clocked up 118 runs. Mention should be made of Stella Lloyd-Jones, who at a young age has clocked up 108 runs and is the grand daughter of Roz Hayward. Her family are great supporters of the event. Here are the results posted in week 12 of the series: 2.5 Kilometres Mollie Kennedy 8.13 Jye Barbara 16.31 Helen Okey 16.41 Roz Hayward 21.45 Victoria Fleming 21.48 3.5 Kilometres David McCann 29.02 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 18.33 Josh Connaughton 18.42 Mat Lambert 20.46 Bede Webster 21.48 Dave Connaughton 24.33 Simon Wall 25.44 Paige Connaughton 25.52 Ross Wilson 26.33 Angie Gannon 29.11 Deb Connaughton 29.31 Nev Madden 33.42 Jill Brown 33.43 Mike Kennedy 37.18 Tracy Denning 40.19 Lisa Robbins 44.00 Robyn Kennedy 44.10 Richard Fisher 46.50

24.01.2022 Long Run Sunday 21 June - Malua Bay Surfclub to Denhams Beach and back (around 15k). Toilets and water at Surf Beach. Start at 8 am. All welcome.

23.01.2022 In the interests of separation and the need for people to exercise and to keep the spirit of the event alive in these troubled times it has become a do-it-yourself event. Runners and walkers are able to do any one of the three distances on any day of the week in their own time and we will record their achievement. This is a record of the first of the new normal in the history of the Broulee runners. 2 Kilometres... 22.01.2022 This weeks event is number 11 in the run isolated Broulee. It is interesting to note that we have had a steady average of 33 scores recorded during the series. For the same time last year, the average was 58 competitors. Having lost the regular holiday makers and the younger runners, who came regularly with their parents, the current average is excellent. The ability to run any of the three measured distances at any time and location has allowed those who considered thems...elves too slow for the 5 kilometres to participate and enjoy the experience. We also have people, who are card carrying Broulee Runners, to record a time in their local area. A prime example is Simon Wall, who has been a regular visitor for many years. Now he has 21 runs and has a chance to reach 30 runs to win a Broulee runners shirt, which may have, under normal circumstance, taken him another 5 years. People on the cusp of greatness are Sandra and daughter Stephanie Lunn, who are only 3 runs away from the magic 100. David McCann is only 2 events away 250 runs. The hero of the week is Kim Young, who despite serious illness, is able to record a time. She has 107 runs to her credit. She is a great supporter of running being a driving force behind the Batemans Bay Park run. She is also an accomplished triathlete and a fitness trainer. Here are the results posted in week 11 of the series: 2 Kilometres Mollie Kennedy 8.08 Samson Kennedy 9.20 Caroline Booth 14.46 Kim Young 22.09 Steve Phipps 22.09 Victoria Fleming 23.10 3.5 Kilometres Taylor Traecey 15.45 David McCann 28.27 Bernie Lambert 34.25 Michael Lambert 34.30 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 18.38 Josh Connaughton 19.02 Matt Lambert 20.28 Tim Cowley 19.34 Bede Webster 21.38 Dave Connaughton 24.45 Paige Connaughton 25.47 Ross Wilson 27.20 Deb Connaughton 27.51 Simon Wall 30.22 Tania Dorney 32.15 Jill Brown 34.17 Lisa Robbins 34.20 Nev Madden 34.23 Mike Kennedy 39.37 Robyn Kennedy 42.22

21.01.2022 This is week 8 of the run isolated Broulee series. This week we have results submitted by the working from home athletics. Once again it is the 5 kilometres runners that top the list of competitors. It is obvious that Cabin Fever forces people to go further. It also gives people the confidence to tackle the distance without worrying about holding people up. It is hoped that this sentiment will carry forward to normal time running. Mike Kennedy, one of the organisers, w...ants to make special mention of the contribution to the Broulee Runners that the Connaughton family have made to the success of the event. The family comprising Dave, Deb, Paige and Josh, have up until today, recorded a total of 1,133 runs. Dave, Deb and Paige first runs were on 27 February 2008. Dave is the Ironman and Deb is the organiser. Under normal conditions Deb is there each Wednesday starting and timing each competitor. She commenced posting on Facebook some years ago and this has had a major influence in promotion of the event. Fitness through running is contagious in Debs family as her sister Jo and her partner and two boys are all regulars as is her mother Jenny. Here are all the results from this weeks runners: 2 Kilometres Mollie Kennedy 8.38 Samson Kennedy 9.08 Caroline Booth 14.21 Richard Fisher 16.07 Roz Hayward 18.00 Victoria Fleming 23.47 3.5 Kilometres Bernie Lambert 18.30 Annie Johnsen 24.53 David McCann 28.50 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 18.48 Josh Connaughton 20.06 Matt Lambert 20.58 Bede Webster 22.19 Ellen Hosking 22.44 David Hosking 22.45 Dave Connaughton 24.30 Prue Bartlett 26.13 Paige Connaughton 26.33 Ross Wilson 26.40 Deb Connaughton 27.40 Simon Wall 29.26 John Hicks 30.54 Anna Hutchinson 33.30 Jill Brown 33.48 Nev Madden 34.45 Mike Kennedy 37.20 Lisa Robbins 37.40 Robyn Kennedy 45.05 Michael Lambert 49.20

21.01.2022 Warm conditions greeted the 22 actual runners in this evening’s Broulee run over 5 kilometres. We also had 13 virtual runners, who performed over the 3 distances. We had one new starter in Zoe Whymark, who did a strong 5 kilometres. Once again young Tino Lopresti performed with distinction coming 5th in the 5 kilometres. Outstanding personal best times were recorded by Selby Johnston and Bernie Lambert over the 5-kilometre distance. Selby improved by 4 minutes 55 seconds a...nd Bernie by 1 minute 18 seconds. Here are the results for this week: 2 Kilometres Victoria Fleming 23.20 Roz Hayward 23.25 3.5 Kilometres David McCann 29.22 5 Kilometres Matt Johnsen 17.13 Daniel Baby 18.25 Josh Connaughton 20.31 Matt Lambert 20.33 Bede Webster 22.34 Tino Lopresti 23.25 Christian Proksch 23.57 Andrew McPherson 24.17 Dave Connaughton 24.27 Selby Johnston 25.33 Prue Bartlett 25.41 Ross Wilson 25.46 James Reilly 26.05 Paige Connaughton 26.05 Deb Connaughton 27.32 Bernie Lambert 27.53 Morgan Pettit 28.20 Jason Domeny 28.25 Eliza Milenkovic 29.09 Angie Gannon 30.40 Ashley Garland 30.46 Andrew Greenway 31.32 Simon Wall 32.49 Rob Ryan 32.54 Jill Brown 32.58 Lisa Robbins 33.34 Gillian Stapleton 33.34 Nev Madden 32.52 Zoe Whymark 35.00 Julianne Domeny 35.15 Mike Kennedy 39.34 Annie Johnsen 40.47 Robyn Kennedy 46.37

21.01.2022 This is week 16 of the Broulee run isolated series and just when consideration was being given to opening to some form of normality the dreaded virus has appeared on our district. People can still do one of the three distances at any location that they consider safe and forward their time for recording purposes. It is important for personal fitness and to keep the dream alive of Broulee runners and Batemans Bay Park Run. The most consistent high performance over this period... is Geordie Cox, whose average time is 18 minutes 45 seconds for the 5-kilometre course. His fastest time of 18.27 places him in the top ten of all time fastest in the 13-year history of the run. It is certain that he would improve on this time if given the opportunity to race the course once we get back to normal. It is timely to mention the performance of Dave Connaughton, 2 more runs to go before reaching the 500 mark. This is an outstanding record out of a possible 663 events. There will be more to say about this outstanding athlete once he achieves this record. The event is for all ages and levels of fitness and is a community event. Some of the young people running the 5 kilometres now were not born when the event started. At the other end of the scale we have people well into the seventies handling the same distance. Here are the results posted this week: 2 Kilometres Victoria Fleming 24.12 3.5 Kilometres Vlad Konovalova 29.30 David McCann 29.42 Olga Konovalova 33.20 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 18.50 Josh Connaughton 20.16 Matt Lambert 20.29 Bede Webster 20.52 Dave Connaughton 25.03 Paige Connaughton 25.28 Ross Wilson 25.49 Deb Connaughton 27.25 Jess Jenkins 28.04 Michael Lambert 30.25 Simon Wall 32.59 Nev Madden 34.01 Jill Brown 34.26 Mike Kennedy 37.33 Richard Fisher 45.57 Robyn Kennedy 49.50

18.01.2022 This is week 7 of the run isolated Broulee (RIB) series. There is still and average of over thirty times being recorded by the runners from home. There is obviously an excellent motivation and commitment by people from the start of the series, which commenced on 25 March 2020. Honourable mention goes to those who have completed all 8 events. These are Pauline and John Hicks, Dave and Deb Connaughton, Robyn and Mike Kennedy, Jye Barbara, Helen Oakey, David McCann, Ross Wil...son and Bede Webster. Broulee is fast becoming the running centre of the district. In good times, Nev Madden has a Sunday morning group, Matt Johnsen has a training group at Captain Audrey Park, Tori Hennig has set up a 5-kilometre course along the back of Bengello beach and most importantly Sue Gilligan has established the Little Athletics at St Peters School. Here are all the results from this weeks runes: 2 Kilometres Mollie Kennedy 7.58 Samson Kennedy 8.50 Caroline Booth 12.38 Anna Johnson 15.24 Nellie Johnson 15.25 Roz Hayward 19.20 Ruby Wilton 21.53 Travis Dummett 21.55 Allyson Jeffery 21.57 Kathryn Jeffery 22.00 3.5 Kilometres Bernie Lambert 17.49 Mark Barraclough 21.52 Richard Fisher 30.17 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 18.32 Josh Connaughton 18.59 Matt Edenborough 19.06 David Hosking 19.20 Matt Lambert 20.53 Bede Webster 21.57 Christian Proksch 22.30 Loren Chambers 22.45 Dave Connaughton 25.30 Paige Connaughton 26.09 Deb Connaughton 26.58 Ross Wilson 27.10 John Hicks 30.49 Tracy Denning 35.10 Lisa Robbins 35.11 Nev Madden 36.47 Jill Brown 37.04 Mike Kennedy 39.04 Robyn Kennedy 43.20 David McCann 43.45 Michael Lambert 49.08

15.01.2022 We have been in isolation for more than 30 weeks. Tonight, we come back together to be able to run the 5 kilometres. We still welcome times from those who cannot join us in person and who run the various distances at their own location. We all need to keep the dream alive so that soon we will be able to have us all back together. Today we had 18 ran the course and 17 virtual runners. As we are back in actual race conditions, we are now able to recognise those that run the ...course and recorded personal best times. These are Lauren Evans, Matt Lambert Christian Proksch and David McCann. We also welcome Ashley Garland, Joelle Karam, Jill Stapleton and Liza Milenkovic to their first run with the group. The outstanding young athlete of the night was Tino Lopresti, who recorded an excellent time of 25.34 for the 5 kilometres. The results for this are: 2 Kilometres Richard Fisher 20.01 Victoria Fleming 21.02 Roz Hayward 21.05 Maureen Searson 23.38 3.5 Kilometres Paul Searson 27.26 Bede Webster 32.07 5 Kilometres Matt Johnsen 18.39 Daniel Baby 19.20 Lauren Evans 20.01 Matt Lambert 20.07 Tom Hofsteede 20.25 Josh Connaughton 20.26 Christian Proksch 23.49 Gary Ashton 23.55 Andrew McPherson 24.00 Dave Connaughton 24.03 Paige Connaughton 25.29 Tino Lopresti 25.34 Ross Wilson 25.59 Deb Connaughton 27.46 Ashley Garland 29.13 Angie Gannon 29.22 Joelle Karam 31.02 Jill Stapleton 31.11 Eliza Milenkovic 31.25 Morgan Pettit 33.08 Julie De Ernsted 33.08 Nev Madden 33.11 Jill Brown 33.50 Lisa Robbins 33.51 Michael Lambert 26.50 Bernie Lambert 37.20 Mike Kennedy 38.32 David McCann 43.36 Annie Johnsen 44.45

14.01.2022 Hi all we will still be going ahead this week but we will be implementing social distancing at the starting line and will not take anymore group photos. We will try and keep you all updated as these crazy times progress but feel that it is an important event to try and continue for as long as possible for our physical and mental wellbeing.

14.01.2022 This is week 13 of Run Isolated Broulee and over this time we have averaged 31 times being lodged and of these there are 8 people, who have managed to set a time on each week. These magnificent 7 are Dave and Deb Connaughton, Robyn and Mike Kennedy, David McCann, Bede Webster and Ross Wilson. Special mention goes to David McCann, who has recorded his 250th run. David commenced with the group on 31 August 2011. He has often helped with timing and the recording of the resul...ts on Wednesday evenings. This is typical of Davids character as he contributes in many ways to the community with his many talents. A quite achiever during the lock down is Ross Wilson, who has taken on the 5 kilometres. He has reduced his time from 27.45 to 25.51 and he is keen to get back near his personal best time of 22.36, which he set back in 2008. Here are the results posted this week: 2 Kilometres Victoria Fleming 20.12 3.5 Kilometres David McCann 20.12 Michael Lambert 20.47 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 19.34 Josh Connaughton 20.05 Matt Lambert 20.31 Bede Webster 21.36 Dave Connaughton 24.22 Paige Connaughton 24.32 Ross Wilson 26.13 Deb Connaughton 27.49 Simon Wall 29.41 Tania Dorney 31.5 Jill Brown 34.13 Nev Madden 34.20 Mike Kennedy 37.58 Richard Fisher 51.27 Robyn Kennedy 51.31

14.01.2022 Broulee Runners have been running isolated for half a year today and it is appropriate to honour those who have completed all 26 runs in the series and they are as follows: Dave, Deb and Paige Connaughton, Robyn and Mike Kennedy, Bede Webster, Ross Wilson, Simon Wall, Matt Lambert and David McCann. We welcome a new runner by the name of Tom Hofsteede. Tom is a work colleague of Simon Fearn and upon learning that Simon was 100 plus Broulee runner, he was determined to better ...Simons time for the 5 kilometres. In Toms first attempt, he managed to equal Simons time for the 5-kilometres of 22.43. He has now bettered Simons time. There has been consultation with several people on the way back to getting together. At this stage we are looking at the middle of October and because difficulties in separating people by handling three events at the same time, it has been decided to run only the 5-kilometres initially. The other two events will be incorporated as conditions improve. People will still be able to run any of the three distances in their own time and place and have the results recorded. We will be developing a COVID-19 Safety Plan using the NSW guidelines and looking at other plans adopted by athletic organisations. This plan will be reviewed by those who manage the event and then it will be made public to all Broulee Runners. Here are the results posted this week: 2 Kilometres Victoria Fleming 21.23 3.5 Kilometres David McCann 29.15 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 19.19 Matt Lambert 19.45 Tom Hofsteede 21.36 Bede Webster 22.18 Dave Connaughton 25.10 Paige Connaughton 25.54 Michael Lambert 26.08 Andrew McPherson 26.12 Ross Wilson 26.53 Deb Connaughton 27.38 Anna Hutchinson 30.15 Morgan Pettit 30.34 Simon Wall 31.10 Tracy Denning 32.45 Nev Madden 33.17 Jill Brown 33.46 Lisa Robbins 34.34 Bernie Lambert 34.50 Mike Kennedy 41.17 Robyn Kennedy 51.26

13.01.2022 We are now in week 24 of the lock down series and we continue to get results from many locations for Broulee Runners stuck in their home unable to travel to our wonderful location. Remember to keep the dream alive Broulee Runners and those wanting to become Broulee Runners can run one of the 2, 3.5 or 5-kilometre distances at their home location and we will save and acknowledge their efforts. This week we celebrate the achievements of Mat Lambert, who recorded his 200th run.... Mats first run was on 9 November 2011. He is a most consistent performer and regularly runs around the 21-minute mark for the 5 kilometres. He has achieved in major events in Sydney and Canberra. Pictured are Mat Lambert. Justine Beaumont, Mark Kennedy and Gabriel Kennedy. 13.01.2022 This is the third event in the social distancing era. So, people run their race on their own over one of the given distances in their own time from Thursday morning till 5 pm on the following Wednesday. Their times are handed in and recorded and counted against their 30-run shirt or in the quest to reach 100 runs. The impossible dream is to better David Connaughtons total of 482 runs. Those approaching significant mile stones are Jye Barbara with one more run to gain his ...30-run shirt. Stephanie and Sandra Lunn need 3 runs to achieve the magic 100 runs. 2 Kilometres Anthony Kennedy 6.32 Mollie Kennedy 8.13 Samson Kennedy 9.52 Emma Kennedy 12.27 Declan McPherson 14.13 David McCann 15.23 Jye Barbara 17.00 Helen Okey 17.30 Victoria Fleming 19.06 Nina McPherson 20.02 Michelle McPherson 20.03 3.5 Kilometres Ross Wilson 19.03 Bernie Lambert 19.48 Mark Barraclough 22.23 Jill Brown 23.04 Nev Madden 23.24 Pauline Hicks 29.37 5 Kilometres Matt Edenborough 19.22 Geordie Cox 20.27 Matt Lambert 21.12 Josh Connaughton 22.07 Bede Webster 22.30 Dave Connaughton 24.06 Loren Chambers 24.36 Paige Connaughton 26.05 Deb Connaughton 26.48 Andrew McPherson 27.00 John Hicks 31.26 Mike Kennedy 39.04 Robyn Kennedy 44.17

13.01.2022 This is week ten of the run isolated Broulee series. There are still 8 runners, who have managed to complete runs in all 10 of the series. The most consistent of these performers is Bede Webster, whose times are all in the range of 21.10 and 22.30 for the 5 kilometres. Special mention goes to Robyn Kennedy at age 77 has managed to complete the 5 kilometres on each week of the series averaging around 46 minutes. The most impressive new comer to the Broulee runners is Geordi...e Cox, who completed 9 of the series, with an average time in the 5 kilometres of 18 minutes 50 seconds. His best time of 18.32 places him as 13th fastest over this distance in the 13year history of the event. As we are about to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we need some humour to brighten up our isolation. Therefore, as people can do one of the 3 distances at any time in the week, we are looking for photos of individuals performing their chosen distance at interesting places or in fancy dress. Here are all the results posted in week 10 of the series. 2Kilometres Mollie Kennedy 8.33 Helen Okey 19.22 Victoria Fleming 22.35 3.5 Kilometres Deb Connaughton 19.30 Annie Johnsen 25.38 David McCann 29.07 Pauline Hicks 29.20 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 18.22 Josh Connaughton 19.14 Matt Lambert 20.45 Bede Webster 21.43 Ellen Hosking 22.26 Dave Connaughton 24.35 Simon Wall 25.13 Paige Connaughton 26.08 Ross Wilson 26.50 Jess Jenkins 28.38 John Hicks 29.54 Anna Hutchinson 31.08 Tracy Denning 34.08 Jill Brown 36.00 Nev Madden 36.01 Mike Kennedy 36.27 Lisa Robbins 39.40 Robyn Kennedy 43.43 Richard Fisher 48.28 Bernie Lambert 53.33 Michael Lambert 53.35

12.01.2022 http://sapphirecoastrunners.com.au/scr-tathra-trail-run-19/

12.01.2022 One month into the new normal whereby people can run a measured distance over 2, 3.5 or 5 kilometres at their own convenience and in their own location and have it recorded in the Broulee Runners archives. The question has been asked about individual personal best times being accepted and acknowledged as such. Since the beginning of the event we have accepted the times and distances submitted by individuals on face value when starting from the anchor in the weekly race, eve...n though some have been questionable. It is about having a go and if you achieve, we like it to be acknowledged. Given the present circumstances all times are accepted willingly on face value and are recorded as such. However, no formal acknowledgement of personal best times will be mentioned in the weekly report, until we go back to the old normal. The new improvements are willingly accepted and marked against the individuals personal records. 2 Kilometres Taylor Tracey 6.06 Declan McPherson 11.43 Caroline Booth 14.08 Michelle McPherson 17.54 Nina McPherson 17.58 Leo Proksch 22.32 Ruby Wilton 25.07 Allyson Jeffery 25.08 Kathryn Jeffery 25.09 Victoria Fleming 25.14 Jye Barbara 30.00 Helen Okey 30.03 3.5 Kilometres Ross Wilson 18.00 Bernie Lambert 18.52 Mark Barraclough 21.11 Pauline Hicks 28.25 David McCann 29.06 Richard Fisher 31.22 Charley Proksch 41.15 5 Kilometres Geordie Cox 19.00 Matt Edenborough 19.11 David Hosking 20.05 Josh Connaughton 21.04 Bede Webster 21.10 Matt Lambert 21.17 Matt Johnsen 21.48 Ellen Hosking 23.06 Greg McDonald 23.37 Christian Proksch 23.55 Dave Connaughton 24.34 Prue Bartlett 25.18 Paige Connaughton 26.14 Deb Connaughton 27.18 Andrew McPherson 26.20 Simon Wall 28.02 Mary Anderson 28.10 John Hicks 30.17 Mike Kennedy 39.05 Robyn Kennedy 44.31

10.01.2022 This is week 17 of the Broulee Runners isolated series and there does not seem to be any light at the end of the COVID tunnel. Nevertheless, runners were able to record times. This was particularly difficult because of the water and fallen trees and branches. We are fortunate to have times posted from various parts of the country. Mention should be made of those who have register 30 runs and have not been able to be presented with their Broulee Runners Shirt. They are Bro...ck Gilligan, Angie Gannon, and Simon Wall. Brock has 3 sons, who have recorded 160 runs between them, and the two older boys Harrison and Vaughn are outstanding athletes and, in the past, represented their school at State level. Work commitments prevent Brock from training, yet he has a personal best time of 25.28 in the 5 kilometres. Angie Gannons work commitments required her to spend time in Sydney and now that she is permanently living in the district will be able to spend more time training. She has recorded good times in each of the three distances. Simon Wall is one of our regular Canberra connection and he has an excellent personal best in the 5 kilometres of 22.58. Simons claim to fame is that he ran at least 5 kilometres every day for a year. Here are the results posted this week: 2 Kilometres Andrew McPherson 18.47 Nina McPherson 18.43 Declan McPherson 19.15 Michelle McPherson 19.15 Victoria Fleming 21.32 Roz Hayward 22.03 3.5 Kilometres David McCann 31.10 Bernie Lambert 32.32 5 Kilometres Matt Lambert 20.06 Bede Webster 21.36 Paige Connaughton 24.27 Dave Connaughton 24.29 Deb Connaughton 27.07 Ross Wilson 27.24 Michael Lambert 30.13 Simon Wall 31.12 Anna Hutchinson 32.18 Lisa Robbins 33.07 Tracy Denning 33.37 Nev Madden 34.01 Jill Brown 34.36 Mike Kennedy 37.07 Robyn Kennedy 44.36 Richard Fisher 49.52

10.01.2022 Since 25 March 2020, the Broulee Runners have been in a lock down situation and all runners and walkers have honoured the spirt of the situation and have run/walked from home. In that time there has been 92 individuals have submitted their times. There have been some outstanding times run over each of the three distances. In the 2-kilometres the fastest female is Tracey Taylor with a time of 6.32 and the fast male is Anthony Kennedy with a time of 6.32. In the 3.5 kilomet...res the fastest female again is Tracey Taylor with a time of 15.45 and the fastest male is Ross Wilson with a time of 18.00 In the 5 kilometres the fastest female is Ellen Hosking 22.26 and fastest male is Geordie Cox with a time of 18.22. Mention should be made of Mike Kennedy, who recorded his 400th run today. Mike entered the running scene with the Sydney City to Surf in 1975. Since that time, he has competed in many thousand events in various parts of the country, including a marathon in New Zealand. With the help of Liza Martini, he started the Broulee Runners in 2008. The event would not have survived without the help of Liza, Robyn Kennedy, Deb Connaughton, and Richard Fisher. 09.01.2022 Run Isolated Broulee is now in the 25th week and we are still having a hard core of fit people, who are prepared to test themselves against the clock. This evening we celebrated Bernie Lambert completing her 30th run. She is the mother of Matt, who clocked 200 runs last week and the supporter of husband Michael, who has now completed 21 runs. Bernie has completed several Park Runs and was registering impressive times, however she has several sets back with injuries. Never...theless, she puts these aside as injuries of excellence and works hard to reclaim her former fitness. Here are the results posted this week: 2 Kilometres Roz Hayward 19.45 Victoria Fleming 19.50 Anna Johnson 23.30 Molly Johnson 23.30 Nellie Johnson 23.30 Richard Johnson 23.30 Roy Booker 23.33 Billie Booker 23.33 Maisie Booker 23.33 3.5 Kilometres Angie Gannon 20.29 David McCann 29.23 5 Kilometres Matt Lambert 20.10 Bede Webster 22.11 Dave Connaughton 25.07 Paige Connaughton 25.59 Deb Connaughton 27.26 Ross Wilson 27.49 Michael Lambert 28.42 Simon Wall 31.02 Lisa Robbins 31.58 Tracy Denning 32.38 John Hicks 33.18 Morgan Pettit 33.19 Julie De-Ernsted 33.20 Jill Brown 33.22 Nev Madden 33.59 Bernie Lambert 39.30 Robyn Kennedy 41.18 Mike Kennedy 42.01

09.01.2022 Broulee runners were back in action tonight with 23 actual runners and 25 virtual runners. We were finally able to present Angie Gannon with her 30-run shirt after 35 runs. The annual bonus to the records person is under examination and is seriously in doubt. Personal best times were recorded by Hugh Wignell, Iona Kelly, Rosie McPartland, Max Hadley, Eliza Milenkovic, Bernie Lambert. Tino Lopresti did again with another personal best time of 23.28. This was an improvement... of 16 seconds and placed him 4th in a strong field of 30 runners in the 5-kilometres. He always has a powerful sprint for the last 50 metres. Yet this week his power finish started at the 100-metre mark to leave Andrew McPherson in his dust. 2Kilometres Hugh Wignell 7.28 Iona Kelly 7.39 Rosie McPartland 8.13 Nate Pike 8.25 Victoria Fleming 21.30 Roz Hayward 21.31 3.5 kilometres Robyn Kennedy 29.37 David McCann 29.45 5 Kilometres Daniel Baby 18.27 Matt Johnsen 19.52 Matt Lambert 20.19 Tino Lopresti 23.12 Andrew McPherson 23.17 Christian Proksch 23.31 Max Hadley 23.45 Loren Chambers 23.50 Gary Ashton 23.58 Dave Connaughton 24.28 Stephen Seidel 24.59 James Reilly 25.06 Paige Connaughton 25.35 Ross Wilson 25.44 Deb Connaughton 26.45 Andrea Cantle 27.44 Michael Lambert 28.17 Eliza Milenkovic 28.45 Bernie Lambert 29.11 Jason Domeny 30.20 Angie Gannon 32.06 Andrew Greenway 32.22 John Hicks 33.02 Rob Ryan 33.12 Lisa Robbins 34.09 Tracy Denning 34.14 Julianne Domeny 36.08 Mike Kennedy 40.34 Annie Johnsen 41.57 Richard Fisher 44.59

08.01.2022 Excellent Conditions attracted 54 starters to this evenings run. We welcomed Mark Barraclough to his first run with the group. We were pleased to see Greg McDonald make an appearance after an absence of three years. Greg and family were severely impacted by the bushfires and it was great to see him back with the runners. He managed to run a smart time in the 5 kilometres. In the 2 kilometres personal best times were run by Poppy Mitchell, Alexis Caver, Lucinda Mitchell ...Eve and Clare Knight. In the 3.5 kilometres Jen Newman recorded a PB. It was a great night for the Domeny family with Erin recording her 100th run. It was especially good for her grandmother Robyn Domeny, who was awarded her 30-run shirt. This is typical of the event in that Robyn came along to support the family and eventually thought that she would give it a go and she has now achieved this important milestone. 2 Kilometres Taylor Traecey 7.29 Poppy Mitchell 7.53 Tino Lopresti 9.08 Alexis Carver 9.24 Sophia Carver 9.33 Lucy Bain 9.38 Justin Murphy 10.36 Laura Lopresti 11.15 Jye Barbara 12.42 Donni Gonzalez 14.10 Alice James 14.25 John Hicks 14.36 Lucinda Mitchell 14.50 Michelle Mitchell 14.51 Nina McPherson 14.52 Ali Gonzalez 15.54 Eve Knight 15.19 Clare Knight 15.20 Pauline Hicks 15.22 Helen Okey 16.51 Emerson Carver 17.35 Jason Domeny 17.36 Taryn Carver 17.42 Nancy Costin 18.35 Nathan Costin 18.35 Victoria Fleming 19.20 Erin Domeny 25.34 Robyn Domeny 25.35 3.5 Kilometres Ross Wilson 18.03 Phil Timms 18.06 Bruce Dickinson 20.57 Julianne Domeny 22.46 Caroline Booth 23.34 Mark Barraclough 24.05 Annie Johnsen 25.13 Phil Turner 27.12 Jen Newman 28.04 David McCann 28.26 Richard Fisher 31.29 5 Kilometres Matt Johnsen 19.54 Matt Lambert 21.10 Scott Carver 21.29 Angus Murphy 23.44 Greg McDonald 24.57 James Reilly 25.08 Dave Connaughton 25.33 Andrew McPherson 26.17 Gary Ashton 26.18 Prue Bartlett 26.22 Steve Seidel 27.31 Deb Connaughton 29.03 Jonathan Feneley 29.08 Andrea Cantle 29.09 Andrew Greenway 29.28

08.01.2022 We are now in week 18 of the Broulee Runners isolated series and under these strange circumstance runners and walkers are still able to test themselves against the clock. As at this Wednesday evening we have 24 results posted. The champion of the week is David Connaughton (pictured) who has clocked 500 runs as a Broulee runner. Daves first run was more than twelve years ago on 27 February 2008. Then he ran the 5 kilometres in 26.37. His personal best time is 22.44 which ...he set in May 2012. He is still able to run the distance in 24 minutes. Dave has completed all of his runs over the five-kilometre distance and his determination has been shown on many occasions by his will to finish even if injured during his run. Further to last weeks mention of the exploits of Simon Wall, the latest is that he has completed 1338 days (3 years and 8 months) without missing a day when he has not had a run! 07.01.2022 Tonight, is week two of being back together and there were 22 actual runners over the 5-kilometre distance and 16 virtual runners giving times for all distances. Although, there was a strong wind blowing this evening there were some excellent times achieved. Most notable was that of Tino Lopresti, who recorded a time of 23.28, which was an improvement of 2 minutes and 6 seconds on his first attempt over this distance last week. He is a primary school student and would be a... standout runner at St Peter’s School. A special welcome to Loren Chambers, who was making a come back after a stress fracture and Suzanne Harter after an absence of 6 years. Lock down conditions make people want to extend themselves and this was evident with Janelle Morgan, who has 96 runs over the shorter distances, ran her first 5 kilometres and recorded a creditable time of 33.01 2 Kilometres Maureen Searson 21.05 Victoria Fleming 22.05 3.5 Kilometres Paul Searson 25.30 David McCann 29.56 5 Kilometres Daniel Baby 18.23 Josh Connaughton 19.46 Lauren Evans 20.07 Matt Lambert 20.25 Tom Hofsteede 20.28 Tino Lopresti 23.28 Christian Proksch 23.37 Gary Ashton 24.02 Andrew McPherson 24.03 James Riley 24.31 Dave Connaughton 24.40 Paige Connaughton 24.49 Loren Chambers 25.13 Max Hadley 26.16 Deb Connaughton 27.01 Mick Lambert 27.03 Ross Wilson 27.19 Suzanne Harter 28.06 Ashley Garland 29.32 Eliza Milenkovic 30.48 Morgan Pettit 30.11 Nev Madden 30.31 Gill Stapleton 31.00 Andrea Cantle 31.08 Angie Gannon 32.06 Janelle Morgan 33.01 Lisa Robbins 33.56 Tracy Denning 33.56 Jill Brown 34.41 Bernie Lambert 35.28 Julianne Domeny 37.06 Mike Kennedy 37.24 Annie Johnsen 45.01 Bede Webster 48.00 Robyn Kennedy 57.38

07.01.2022 Sharing Tori Hennig’s Post: Saturday 31 October HALLOWEEN 5KM (in full costume). Meet at Mossy Point Anchor at 7pm. Bring a light/lamp... and a plate. We'll run the BR’s 5km course (slowly) with lights to display our costumed splendour and meet back to the Anchor for some refreshments. All welcome

07.01.2022 In light of the latest Government restrictions we have decided not to meet on Wednesdays as a group, but instead let you all run/walk your desired distance anytime before each Wednesday afternoons at 5pm, recording your own time, and then sending it through as a private message to this page and we will continue to record your results. We hope everyone stays safe and healthy over the coming weeks and we will look forward to starting up again once things have settled down.

05.01.2022 This is week 16 of our Run Isolated Broulee and it is mid-winter and the conditions certainly reflect the time of the year. It is timely to reflect on the wonderful athletes that have participated in our event and have done the district proud on the international stage. Jaylah Hancock-Cameron (25 runs) participated in the youth Olympics, Matt Johnsen (58 runs) participated in the World University Cross Country Championships, Dan Lloyd-Jones (210 runs) participated in the Wo...rld Sprint Triathlon Championships and Daniel Beby (155 runs) participated in the Hawaiian Ironman. Moreover, it has given others the chance to develop friendships. Some have used this event as an opportunity further their interest in running and build training groups to participate in medium to ultra-distance running events. Those that spring to mind are Morgan Pettit (90 Broulee runs), Anthony Miles (83), Lauren Evans (38), Nev Madden (182) and Lisa Martini (102). 05.01.2022 This is week 23 of Broulee Runners being in lock down and motivated people are still able to test themselves doing individual time trials. The saddest aspect of the not being able to come together is that the young are not able to come and enjoy the event with their parents and friends. Some of these have gone on to achieve and others have simply come to enjoy the company and the location with the magnificent view and trees to climb and places to hide. The organisers are lo...oking at initiatives to be able to get back together in some form. If anyone has any bright ideas, we would be pleased to hear from you. There should remain the opportunity for people to do their run remotely if this is preferred. 04.01.2022 This is week 15 of Run Isolated Broulee and there does not seem to be any chance of a change in our operations as further National outbrakes of the virus have thrown a spanner in the works. We celebrated the 30th run of Angie Gannon last week and unfortunately, we missed the opportunity to celebrate in public with her. As it is school holidays, we had visitors to our region submit their run times. The Kennedy family were able to commence their run as a social distancing gro...up from the normal course start line. They were able to post 2 unofficial personal best times and one equal PB. If any of you have any photos to send in of you or your family on the run we would love to have them so we can put them up and it will also be a reminder of what you all look like. 04.01.2022 A great response again this week from our Broulee Runners recording and sending in their own times while we still find ourselves in a restricted environment. Times can be recorded on any day of the week over any course you choose and sent in by 5pm each Wednesday to be recorded, our prime goal at the moment is to motivate and encourage everyone to head out for some exercise. Once the restrictions are lifted and we go back to our normal time keeping each Wednesday evening, we ...will then encourage you to try and improve all records that were set before the restrictions were put in place. A 5km South Broulee Fire trail virtual Parkrun has been set up and anyone interested can get details from the Batemans Bay Parkrun Facebook page, again this is a great idea to get in another run for the week. This week we congratulate Mary Anderson on achieving her 30 run shirt we will have a special presentation and a round of applause for Mary when we start up again. 03.01.2022 After the year to date, what better thing to do than have some mango therapy!! Yes, its on again! If you would like some farm fresh mangoes delivered directly to Broulee for a great price, please do comment below and Cathy will get in touch with you... or feel free to drop by the office at Broulee Public School and order yourself a tray.

03.01.2022 As we are allowed to go outside to exercise, what better way than walk or run over a measured distance so that we can check our performance. As the concept of racing is out of the question for the present, so to avoid complacency we are measuring ourselves against the clock. When we come out of the darkness people can map their progress during this period as all their performance times will be recorded in Broulee book of results. Prue Bartlett received her 30-run shirt with...out the usual applause. It was left at her front door by the running fairies. It was great to see Victoria Fleming come out to do a 2-kilometres walk to record her 100th appearance. The celebrations will come later! Another initiative is to allow those Broulee Runners in other places to record a time over one of the accepted distances and have it included in our records. It is great to have Broulee runners keeping up their fitness in this difficult time. Andrea Scroope, Evelyn and Penelope Johnston dedicate their individual run to support MS by wearing the MS shirt. 02.01.2022 This is week 14 of Run Isolated Broulee and we can celebrate two significant achievements with the event. The first is Jill Brown clocking up 150 runs and an even bigger achievement with Deb Connaughton recording her 350th run. Jill started on 24 September 2008 and with partner Nev Madden were great supporters in getting the run going and helped in many ways. Deb started almost at the beginning on 27 February 2008. Deb is the face of the run starter, recorder and marketin...g person. A special welcome to James Golds, who is a regular visitor to these parts. His first run was on 9 January 2008 and he with his family have been regular participants. We also welcomed Peng Yuqin, a visitor from China. She is working her way around Australia. 02.01.2022 This is week 6 of the run isolated Broulee (RIB). The participation has attracted an average of 34 results being posted during this time. The cabin fever has the effect of encouraging people to go further as half of these results are over the 5 kilometre distance. There have been a number of consistent performers across the three distances. In the 2 kilometres Mollie Kennedy with 4 results under 10 minutes, in the 3.5 kilometres Ross Wilson has 5 results under 20 minutes and ...in the 5 kilometre Geordie Cox has 5 under 20 minutes. The most outstanding time lodged was that of Taylor Tracey running a time of 6.06 in the 2 kilometre. We look forward to seeing all these times bettered when we get back to our normal timed conditions. The star performer is Helen Okey, who has completed 30 runs. This achievement is remarkable as her first runs were recorded carrying her grandson Jye Barbara in a pouch when he was a baby, and they now run together each week. 01.01.2022 This is the first run under the heightened threat of Coronavirus. No place cards were used only the call and remembering of ones place. The recording and publication of results will be the same. The run will continue whilst participants are mindful of their own and the safety of others.
