10.01.2022 Broulee Surf School requires a temporary casual office worker for the 2020/21 summer school holiday period. Duties include answering phone and email enquiries, booking lessons and hire equipment, word processing and spreadsheet data entry, processing payments and liasing with staff. This role would suit someone with excellent customer service and computer skills. Surfing knowledge a bonus but not essential. Casual hours up to 8 hours per day and up to 5 days per week for 6 weeks. Pay negotiable.

10.01.2022 One question we often field when talking to parents who may be nervous about enrolling their children in surfing lessons: How deep will the water be? A valid question, especially where a child may have limited swimming and this could very well be their first experience in the ocean environment ... Be assured we only surf in knee to waist deep water (as pictured) early in their surfing development. This builds confidence as kids can touch the sandy bottom at all times until they are ready to venture into deeper water and chase longer rides! under the close supervision of their professional coach. Another consideration is being attached by the legrope to the surfboard, which is a giant flotation device. Even if one of our students strays into deeper waters, they are taught to keep their head above water using the board until help arrives. Our kids program, Surf Squad, is the best way for kids to learn to surf in a safe and supportive environment. When I started in this profession I swore to never wear a bucket hat with legionnaire flap, lest I look like a kook but it was a matter of months before I donned one of these beauties and never looked back! And we are excited to announce the start of after school surfing what better way to wash off the school day, get outdoors and make new friends Due to overwhelming interest Surf Squad will be offered on Monday afternoons as well as Thursdays in Term 3 from 3:45pm - 5pm. This short 4 week course is suitable for kids aged 6-16 years who are looking to get started in surfing, and is the perfect intro to our 8 week program in Term 4. Lessons are held in ...the safest waves at Broulee with professional coaches, such as Australian Surfmasters champion Shane Wehner. 01.01.2022 RECORD WATER TEMPERATURES ON THE SOUTH COAST A CSIRO Oceanographer says water temperatures on the Far South Coast were 4 degrees above average in the month ...of January, due to a "unusual event" where the Eastern Australian Current flowed closer to the coastline. Dr David Griffin says the Eastern Australian Current usually moves in a straight line from Brisbane to south of Sydney, before moving out to sea. But from 10 January the EAC traveled along the coastline, bringing warmer water and possibly tropical species. He says temperatures of up to 24 degrees were recorded in Narooma, which was "off the scale", based on prior readings, and the current is beginning to go back to normality.
