25.01.2022 School holidays start NOW.... Have a happy and safe holiday. See you back at school on Tuesday 6th October as Monday is a public holiday.



25.01.2022 Thanks student council for organising a fun 'wear your origin colours' day. There were a lot of Queensland supporters today, however NSW colours were still out to make their mark.

24.01.2022 This week, we have 15 teachers and leaders engaged in iPad immersion days. We are learning more skills and ways to utilise iPads as an educational tool in our classrooms.

23.01.2022 Fathering Project Launch Update - Dominos Pizza @ Browns Plains have donated two dinner vouchers for us to use as prizes. Be sure to send your photos and videos of your family flying paper planes and eating pizza to [email protected] so we can award the vouchers on Friday. Thanks Dominos!

23.01.2022 Today our staff asked each other "Are you ok?" As a workplace we supported our physical and mental health by participating in some arranged activities. Breakfast treats followed by game of basketball at lunch and wrapped up with an art class this evening. Today and everyday we look out for each other

22.01.2022 Last week, a group of students, staff and parents met with Mrs Meyrick to plan improvements for our learning areas. One of our parent reps could not make it in person so conference called with us. This year we have decided to ensure classroom technology is all up to date and to install the wall/sliding door room dividers in more of our teaching blocks. We will meet again shortly to plan learning area projects for the next 3 years. We will send a survey to you all soon to seek your input too.

21.01.2022 LAST CHANCE - registrations close Monday. Want to support our young readers? By registering your interest to become a Ready Reading volunteer you will be provided with training to support young readers. The training will be delivered in Term 4 by Mrs Emma Webber and Ms Wasley at our school on Thursday 15th October and Thursday 22nd October. Training will consist of 2 x 2 hour sessions during which time you will be guided and supported through your learning. You will be provided with resources to support your learning during training and a certificate of completion. To register, please email Mrs Emma Webber [email protected] by Monday 24th August with your preferred training session time: 9:00am-11:00am or 1:00pm-3:00pm

19.01.2022 Our Student Council have been quietly working on our Mini Waste Warriors program. This includes worm farming, composting and can/popper/bottle recycling. Today some of our members collected our red recycling bins from our eating areas to put into our Scout Recycling Bin. Keep up the great work kids!

We had so many families involved we are just trying to collate it all. We are so glad our school community loved this family event and it was all the kids could talk about today

Allow about 30mins for your visit. Public Meeting will be held on Thursday 10th September 6.30pm with forming a P&C on the agenda.

12.01.2022 Friday 4th September is a student free day for state schools. This replaces the 3rd Monday of Term 4. There will be no school for students on this day so please make alternative arrangements.

12.01.2022 On Pupil Free Day last week all of our staff completed training for anaphalylaxis and asthma medical emergencies. Our First Aid reps also completed their training. #alwayssafe

11.01.2022 This week was Science week. In addition to learning science in our classrooms, every day this week we also had lunch time activities. There were a lot of WOWS, OOHHS, GASPS and most importantly a lot of fun learning about colour, properties of materials, the water cycle, mixtures and big bangs!

10.01.2022 Move over Mrs Meyrick, Mr Kade has taken over the chair. As principal for the day Kade has sent emails, sent a text message to all families about thelast day of Term, edited the Prep Parent Handbook, made phone calls and given Mrs Warwick a duty. He also met with Mrs Gregory regarding planning. At lunch he visited play areas and handed out VIVO points. He also changed our bell music. Lots to do when you are principal for a day. Well done Kade.

09.01.2022 On Thursday night get ready for a family night in. Paper Planes and Pizzas are on the menu in family homes for Thursday night. We cant get together for our Fathering Project Launch so we are hosting an in-home event. Packs will be sent home next week with more details.

07.01.2022 1C had their Science Fair yesterday. They learnt how to organise a COVID safe event to celebrate and share their learning with Prep C and 4/5D. Great learning this term in Science 1C.

07.01.2022 Today was Indigenous Literacy Day with some classes connecting live at 2pm for a special guest, while others joined in some lunch time reading fun.

06.01.2022 This week, Mr Ragh, our Assistant Regional Director, visited our school. He was impressed by the mature greeting, conversation and questions he received from our school leaders. He was impressed in his classroom visits to our ECDP, 2A and 4C where he spoke to our passionate teachers and engaged students. It was wonderful to showcase why our school is a better place to be. Thanks for visiting Mr Ragh.

05.01.2022 This week is Speech Pathology week and we are super proud of our team; Mrs Ryan and Mrs McNicol. Mrs Ryan provides intensive speech language intervention, completes assessments, supports teachers to develop plans and coordinates resources. Mrs McNicol explicitly teaches vocabulary to all of our P-2 classes. These lovely ladies help us to be a better place to be. Its your week and we say thank you!

01.01.2022 This week, each Year 2 student (and students in our Year 2 multi-age classes) received a beautiful picture or chapter book to take home. These Quocka reading books were donated to Browns Plains State School by Quota International of Beenleigh Inc with the generous assistance of a grant from Civic Solutions and the sourcing of books through Little Gnome Bookshop. Quota has also generously donated a copy of each book gifted to our students for our school library to benefit all of our students. Our Year 2 students were so excited to take their new books home to share with their families. THANK YOU!
