21.01.2022 Well known Queenslander Don Thallon has hung up his helmet after a very active 37 years of racing in Historics. It was inevitable that Don would be a racer as i...t was in his genes, his father had raced and reported on races in the 1940s and 50s, Don burst onto the scene at Lakeside in 1982 with two Jaguars, an XK150 coupe and 3.8 sedan. Subsequently he raced a variety of cars, 3 Chev Corvettes and a Nova, two Coopers ( one of which is pictured here) the Lister Jag, a Porsche and the MRC FJ .As well as racing everywhere in Australia he spent several seasons in the UK and Europe plus NZ, USA and South Africa. Space precludes a fuller rundown of his great career but he will certainly be missed. When Don, Bill Norman and I were pitted together at Morgan Park last July little did we realise then this would be Don's grand finale, typically he didn't make a big ceremony about it. See more
