25.01.2022 Vote 1 - DUNNE

24.01.2022 Meeting Tony Blair at CHOGM

21.01.2022 Hello to all of my friends, fellow residents and supporters. Welcome to my page. As you may already know, I am running as an independent candidate for Division 9 in the upcoming Local Government (Sunshine Coast Regional Council) elections, to be held 28th March. After looking around at what I had achieved in my time as a Councillor, I thought to myself "really, not much has happened since." So i thought it's time to get things moving again and give you, the residents, what yo...u expect and should be getting from Council. You deserve more from Council. That is why I'm running, vote for Dunne. With over 22,000 citizens within the Division 9 boundary, I believe I can bring strong, fair and experienced representation to its residents. Previously a Councillor for this area and over 24 years of Council related experience, I have the skills, experience and vital first-hand knowledge to get the job done. Having been a local resident for over 40 years, I have the best interests of the community at heart and I’m passionate about representing the people and the beautiful place where I live and work. As a local, I have a deep understanding of the issues that affect residents and as your Division 9 Councillor, my job will be to listen to the needs of the community and represent your concerns with a stronger voice in council.

18.01.2022 OPEN LETTER TO DIVISION 9 RESIDENTS. Covid-19 and The Local Government Elections. We are in a crisis, both in health and economically. The State Government appears to be firm on still having this Election tomorrow, Saturday 28 March, despite all the warnings and advice we are receiving from the Federal Government. I want to help the community (and small business), the best way I can. Provided all advice is followed carefully, I would like this election to finish. Then we can... get the new Council settled in ASAP and start working with our government partners as well as our local community groups to help residents get through this terrible time. I believe that is one reason why the state government wants the new Council up and running- so that it can assist in managing this crisis, at the Local level. Because of my past Council experience, i believe I am the best candidate, I can use this knowledge and experience to hit the deck running so I can assist you and the rest of the community from a local Government perspective. First duty of the new Council should be to assist the residents. The SCR Council runs on a budget of $850 million, it has a lot of resources on hand that could be deployed to assist our community during this crisis. My aim as your Councillor is to get the new Council focused on helping you. Once elected, I will be doing everything in my power to assist our community. Regarding voting, there are 6 booths open tomorrow in Division 9,(at the State Schools 8am-6pm). If you don't want to line up, there is a "phone in" option to vote. Call 1300912782 and select option 1, the ECQ staff will walk you through the process. But the phone option is only available up until 12 noon Saturday. Visit the ECQ website for more detailed information. As per the health advisories, now is the time to heed the advices - comply with the social distance guidelines, wash your hands regularly with soap and water and if you have travelled from interstate or overseas make sure you self-isolate. Stay safe. Kindest regards, Bruce Dunne Candidate, Division 9 Councillor. www.brucedunne.com

18.01.2022 Bruce Dunne for Division 9 Hello to all of my fellow residents. I am running as an independent candidate for Division 9 in the Sunshine Coast Council elections on 28 March, and I am asking for your vote. Many of you already know me from my previous roles in Council. It’s great to have served time as a Councillor, to know how Council works and what can be achieved as a Councillor. I have also spent time outside of Council as a resident just like you and I can look at what C...ouncil is doing and what residents want. That sets me apart from the other candidates in the division. With my experience both inside Council and on the outside, I can say unequivocally that residents deserve more from Council. That is why I'm running. I believe I have the knowledge and experience to give you a stronger representation in Council and bring a common sense approach to all of Council's processes. Vote 1 Bruce DUNNE See more

17.01.2022 Then and now. I have a proven track record of achievement and service to the community. I will be using this knowledge and experience to be your strong voice in Council, to hit the deck running and get the job done. Establishing the Coolum Boardwalk, viewing decks and Pt. Perry upgrades and pavilion were some of the facilities I achieved.

13.01.2022 The Dedicated Dog Parks (DDP's) have proven themselves very popular in urban areas. The dogs benefit from the social interaction and exercise. The owners enjoy the social aspect as well. I believe developers should be required to install at least one DDP when they create a new estate. If elected I will be looking to create more DDP's.

09.01.2022 OPEN LETTER TO DIVISION 9 RESIDENTS. Unfortunately, sometimes, there is an ugly side to politics, as is the case now with a person trying to discredit me with a smear campaign. Some of you may have received an unauthorised letter in your mailbox from this disturbed person. This defamatory, malicious and vexatious letter is full of lies and misinformation written by a coward to not sign their name. I have been presented with CCTV footage of this person and have a signed witnes...s statement. I know who it is now. I apparently upset this person (some 18 years ago!) who hasn't got over it. I feel sorry for this person and I would like to help them. I endeavour to be be upfront and honest in all aspects of my life. It is a shame and I take pity on this person to attempt to taint my proven track record of achievements and years of service to the community by this cowardly act. Nonetheless, I am very focused on becoming your Councillor, and if elected, using my knowledge and experience to be your strong voice in Council. I'll keep working hard to improve services and ensure your needs are met. See more

09.01.2022 Although it was very windy and with large wild surf, I had a breakfrom campaigning by doing my rostered lifesaving patrol on Sunday morning. After a discussion with the elite team from patrol 12, it was unanimously agreed to VOTE 1 - DUNNE. In everything I do, safety is my paramount concern. When representing the residents of Division 9, I will ALWAYS have their best interests and safety in mind.

08.01.2022 This was a special thank you to some of our community volunteers in the past. Of course there are many, many volunteers who work tirelessly for our benefit. During my time as a Councillor, I have earned the trust of the divisional residents and built up a solid standing among the region’s many community groups. A large part of my time as a Councillor was dedicated to supporting the community and its numerous service, cultural, sporting and volunteer groups. I am looking forw...ard to making new friends, and of course continuing my relationship with hundreds of others who I have grown to admire and respect for their dedication to our community. I believe the Sunshine Coast, and in particular our community of Division 9, is a fantastic place to live. It would not be nearly as wonderful if it were not for our community volunteers who are the glue of our community.

07.01.2022 I don’t want our beautiful region to turn in to a metropolis. I don’t want endless new housing estates with no soul. I don’t want parking problems and streets with no footpaths. I want our Council to help climate control at the local level. I want our Council to be efficient with resources so we can reduce rates and levies. I want kerbside rubbish collections and free dump vouchers. I want sealed roads in rural areas and on school bus routes. I want more community recreation areas and bike lanes. I want our kids to be safe, and I want our elderly citizens to be cared for. I want our small businesses to prosper. For these reasons I have nominated for the position of Councillor, Division 9, in the 28 March elections, and I ask for your support.

05.01.2022 Congratulations Division 9 and Coolum Beach. Coolum Beach is the winner of the "BEST BEACH IN QUEENSLAND" AWARD 2020 By Surf Lifesaving Queensland. SLSQ have announced their top 10 beaches. From SLSQ- 1. COOLUM, SUNSHINE COAST For the first time, Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast has claimed the top spot. More than 270,000 beachgoers packing its shores across summer.... Dedicated lifeguards and friendly volunteer surf lifesavers are on hand 365 days a year to ensure there is someone keeping a watchful eye over visitors. Two sets of red and yellow flags provide ample space for swimmers to enjoy the water. Its location, access to parking and public transport, nearby services and cleanliness helping it secure the converted position. It is also wheelchair accessible on weekends, making sure everyone can enjoy what it has to offer.

05.01.2022 Our Lifesavers do an awesome and vital volunteer community service keeping our beaches safe. Here I am on patrol on Coolum Beach. Safety is paramount, whether it be saving lives on our beaches or making our roads, bikeways, footpaths and our communities safer is a priority to me. For a better (and safer) community - Vote 1 - DUNNE

05.01.2022 This is not just a Council road but it’s actually a school bus route. As Councillor, I will be aiming for Council to upgrade its rural roads, especially the school bus routes. School bus routes should not look like this. Safety is paramount. Vote 1- Dunne.

02.01.2022 I have a proven track record of achievement and service to the community. I will be using this knowledge and experience to be your strong voice in Council, to hit the deck running and get the job done. Some of the larger achievements I delivered during my time in Council as your representative have included: Establishing the Coolum boardwalk, viewing decks and Pt. Perry pavilion and decks.... Standing up against constant development pressure (eg Ariadne, Watpac, Lend Lease, etc) and maintaining the communities wishes by not allowing any development to be built over a three-storey limit. Refusing developments that were larger than appropriate to maintain a village atmosphere e.g. the first Mansel Quarry application. Upgrading the Coolum Skate Park and playgrounds, fitting them with shade covers and establishing the coastal fitness trail. Being instrumental in achieving a community native nursery suitable for growing salt-tolerant, coastal plant species. Rolling out a program of $200,000 per year for street works, pedestrian crossings and traffic lights. Undertaking and completing the highly successful ‘Coolum Land Use and Traffic Management Plan’, which has helped form the current Coolum Village Masterplan. Supporting the community in the successful fight against the original Lend Lease masterplan for the Hyatt residential sites. Initiating the ‘Coolum Safe’ program, versions of which have now been established across many regions of the Sunshine Coast. Showing strong support for major regional events and recognising their important economic value to the area. Always being accessible to divisional residents. Assisting the needs of the many community groups including Lions, Meals on Wheels, Coastcare, local Boardriders, Resident’s Associations, Surf Lifesaving Club, sporting groups, religious groups and the area’s schools. Successfully leading the Environment Department for six years, during which it was awarded seven major State and National Environmental Awards. He also helped to implement the acclaimed Maroochy River Recovery Program. Actively participating in additional internal Committees such as Environmental Dept. (Co-Chair), Shire Services Dept. (Chair) and the Planning Dept. (Deputy Chair). The many smaller scale projects I have delivered have included: Disability access projects, Coolum Primary School carpark, residential Park upgrades, sealing of unsealed roads, re-sealing residential streets, a Lifeguard storage facility, Tourist Info Centre upgrades, new bus shelters, establishing many new residential footpaths, extra pedestrian crossings, new bikeways, drainage and stormwater works.
