25.01.2022 We are trying to work remotely so that for many appointments you do not need to leave your house or workplace. Most appointments for Dr Lo are now via teleconference but for injections and procedures you will require a face to face appointment. Mr David Parsons is still conducting face to face physiotherapy treatment sessions. Our new phone number is 0468 569 839

24.01.2022 We are excited to announce that Kwong-Yan Cheung has just joined our team. Kwong is a physiotherapist and sports coach and will be available for individual consultations and run rehabilitation classes at Bruce Sports Medicine. He also works at Arthritis ACT. Please contact our practice to book an appointment to see him. https://www.brucesportsmedicine.com.au/mr-kwong-yan-cheung.

18.01.2022 We are urgently working on using telehealth consultations for Dr Wilson Lo as an option for certain patients and certain consultations. Currently medicare item numbers exist for telehealth consultations for all patients over 70 yo and over, ATI patients 50 years and over, parents with children up to 12 months old and pregnant women, along with patients with chronic diseases. You have to have been at our practice sometime in the past 12 months. Most likely we will use Skyp...e and we are hoping to get this under way in the next 2 days. This will reduce the number of people in the waiting room which will help others but obviously some consultations require a physical examination or procedure such as an injection will require a face to face consultation. However discussion of results can be performed online and all imaging in Canberra from private imaging companies can be access online by us. We have taken extra measures and employed more staff to make the practice as clean as possible.

17.01.2022 Our practice is now offering all of our regular services again since before the lockdown. We have extra cleaning, temperature checking and social distancing whenever possible. We are so excited all our regular practitioners are now back on board so we can offer you our full services again whether that be face to face or via telehealth. Just call 02 62535386 or email [email protected] to make an appointment. Sports medicine, orthopaedic surgery, physiot...herapy and exercise physiology, sports podiatry, dietetics, acupuncture and traditional chinese medicine and remedial massage with arguably some of the best practitioners in Canberra all in one location. We don't have trainee practitioners - we only have bosses who have their own practices and have decided to come together to collaborate and provide the best service possible in Canberra. See more

15.01.2022 Please accept our apologies for our phones being down at the moment. If you need to call the practice please call 0414951882

15.01.2022 We are trying to make our practice as safe and clean as possible. Please don't be offended when you arrive and have your temperature taken with a contactless forehead thermometer and if our practitioners are wearing gloves, masks, gowns or goggles. We are waiting on the announcements on the upgrading of telehealth eligibility which are coming this week so that for many consultations you will be able to use Skype rather than come in to the practice. That way only patients requiring an indepth physical examination or procedure or injection will be required to attend in person. As a consequence of schools effectively closing we are also having some consultations in the evenings as some of our practitioners have to look after their children at home during the day.

07.01.2022 We also have Ryan Connell joining us for exercise physiology and rehabilitation consultations. Ryan is the rehabilitation coach for the junior Canberra Raiders rugby league teams. Ryan is an Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) accredited exercise physiologist who graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation. Ryan is also a Level 2 Strength and Conditioning coach, accredited through the Australian Strength and Co...nditioning Association (ASCA). Ryan enjoys being able to use exercise for the management and prevention of a range of health conditions including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, mental health and joint pain (including arthritis). Another keen area of his interest is in musculoskeletal rehabilitation with over 4 years of employment with the Junior Canberra Raiders as the Rehabilitation Coach. Outside of work, Ryan loves to be outside staying active playing cricket, rugby league, touch football, water skiing and running. Ryan looks forward to being able to assist you in developing and maintaining a healthy lifestyle in a sustainable manner. See more

06.01.2022 A celebratory dinner for all our staff and practitioners who toughed it out during the lockdown and kept valuable services going during these difficult times for all. Being a medical practice we were deemed an essential service and we've all had to adjust with extra precautions, cleaning, protective equipment and working remotely to provide Canberrans with essential healthcare. But to be honest it was a celebration of being able to go out for a feed! Home cooking has all improved and although we take pride in our professional services we're not Master Chefs. Except Maria. And Dave.

05.01.2022 Kwong is excited to start post injury and post surgery small group rehabilitation classes at Bruce Sports Medicine in the Level D Rehabilitation Gym. Patients will need to see him for an initial consultation to establish a management plan and if suitable can enrol in the classes on Tuesdays from 5-6 pm starting on Tuesday 2nd February 2021. These sessions do attract a private health rebate. Kwong is also now the physiotherapist for Canberra United Academy and Canberra Olympic women's football teams.

04.01.2022 My practice is slowly becoming more face to face again and we are doing this in a staged way. We still have a lot of extra sanitisation procedures and reserve ...face to face consultations for those who require an in depth examination, or a procedure such as an injection, fibreglass cast application or removal, compartment pressure testing or ultrasound. However telehealth is here to stay and currently any consultation slot can be used to do this for me. I generally do this via Microsoft Teams so if telehealth is more appropriate for you then please request this when you call up the practice for an appointment. You will receive an email with a purple link at the bottom which you click to join the consultation. It can be done via your smart phone or any computer with a webcam. Just make sure if it is a work computer that it allows Teams to be used first (test it out before the consultation). My telehealth consultations are discounted compared with face to face consultations and they also attract a medicare rebate. If you are 70 yo or older or under 16 yo you will be bulkbilled for telehealth consultations.

04.01.2022 A story on WIN NEWS about the muscular dystrophy exercise classes run by our own Ashleigh Armitage twice a week out of Bruce Sports Medicine Gym.

03.01.2022 As Covid restrictions ease our practice is now offering face to face consultations with Dr Wilson Lo during working hours 2-3 mornings a week. These are for patients who require in depth examinations or injections or procedures. Telehealth is still available for new consultations and non-procedural consultations. Our physiotherapist Mr David Parsons is still and has always been available for face to face treatment sessions as has our exercise physiologist, Ms Ashleigh Armitage. Social distancing is practised in the waiting area and extra cleaning and hygiene protocols for Covid 19 are used in the consultation rooms. It won't be long before our practice can offer many other disciplines in health care as we had before the restrictions were put into place and much more than before!

02.01.2022 We have just moved our ISP from Telstra to IINET in order to access the NBN to prepare the practice for telehealth. Unfortunately Telstra are taking their time to hand over the phone system to IINET so when you call our practice on 62535386 you will be diverted to our IT service who will then try and refer the calls to our receptionists mobiles. Please be patient and hopefully the problem will be rectified soon.

01.01.2022 We're excited to introduce two new practitioners who have joined the Bruce Sports Medicine team. Due to popular demand from the Podiatry Professionals team we have Jock Sinclair alongside our incumbent Bianca Knight providing sports podiatry services. Jock Sinclair graduated from Charles Sturt University Albury in 2018 and joined the Podiatry Professionals team in 2019. He has an enthusiastic personality with a strong passion for biomechanics. Jock intends to focus his co...ntinued professional development points around these aspects of podiatric care. Jock grew up in the central west and far south coast of New South Wales. These environments installed an active lifestyle which he still maintains today by playing rugby and general fitness. Due to this, the opportunity of joining a sports podiatry clinic focused on biomechanics whilst maintaining universal podiatric skills was very appealing. Through encompassing a holistic healthcare approach with emphasis on open communication he hopes to bring about the best overall outcome for patients and fellow staff members See more
