22.01.2022 Rolls, the cat here - stay within 5km of home. Do you think l could walk 5km in an hour of exercise? I don’t have to wear a mask. I’m only 6 years old. I work/sleep on the hay when the sun shines, and on the boss’ bed today when it’s wet and cold. 6 weeks stage 4 restrictions. 6 x 7 nights means 182 sleeps to go. Sorry, almost forgot. Brumfield is still open by appointment for wine, beer and bread. If you live within 5km no change, just call first. 17.01.2022 Brumfield wet weather driver here - best to have two people delivering the bread somedays. You have to remember your worker permit form, your mask, watch for water over the road and when you get to Mt Dandenong don’t take pictures of the snow because it’s slippery.

15.01.2022 Tractor driver here - one more sleep. Leaves are almost gone and the Shiraz grapes have decided to be ready for picking. They are so good to pick. Put a bucket under the row and say jump. They are so good. Think the diesel fumes and the isolation is getting to me. Just can’t wait for the picking. One more sleep

14.01.2022 Winemaker here - no more sleeps to pick shiraz. We put buckets under the vines this morning and said, please shiraz grapes jump in. They filled the buckets and the machine gently removed the berries and gave us a stem Christmas tree. Just Sangiovese to go.

08.01.2022 Pinot Noir berry here - winery is at 12c and l’m here in wine/juice blend at 24c. Another week and my friends and l get a nice firm squeeze and become wine. Better than being in a cold wet vineyards

05.01.2022 Tractor driver here - even a sunrise looks better after lockdown. Yes we have a couple of new wines. An Italian grape Fiano that we went to Heathcote to get the fruit before the restrictions. And yes, Chardonnay with hops. Winemaker had no fruit to ferment so you get something different. For the Chardonnay/beer drinker. All available for tasting this weekend.

04.01.2022 Vineyard boss here - with social distancing the picking team couldn’t be found although we did get the grapes picked. Finally back in the office to pick Chardon...nay. So good to start working again. IT department here - the online sales site had to go in the budget cuts. Wine specials are still available but you now need to call to arrange. 01.01.2022 Brumfield News Reporter here - stage 4 lockdown is hard but the worst part is it gives you time to do jobs you have been putting off. A 5 minute job with the forklift became almost 2 months job because forklift driver forgot forklifts are not off road vehicles. It slipped and slid and then the 6 tonne forklift just sank into the mud and became a statue. Months of thinking and planning and waiting for the rain to stop. Then with digging tools and other things it was time. Just a few more hours digging and yes the statue became a forklift again. If only stage 4 lockdown was so easy.
