25.01.2022 Brunel Australasia is proud to share brunelforpeople.com.au - a new site dedicated to showcasing some of the highly-skilled and experienced people we’re currently trying to reconnect with suitable employment. Hundreds of thousands of Australians have lost work as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and estimates suggest that this figure will continue to climb past one million before 2020 is through. At this scale, unemployment tends to become a discussion of numbers, not peopl...e. But each and every job lost impacts on a real person, their loved ones, dependents and self-esteem. In creating Brunel for People we seek not only to help workers find new opportunities, but to remind organisations, employers and ourselves, that these candidates aren’t just a collection of qualifications and years served; they are our friends, our neighbours, our coworkers. They are people with hopes, dreams, responsibilities and obligations. We implore you to visit www.brunelforpeople.com.au and search for people with skills that could be put to good use in your organisation or project, and to begin a conversation which may have a huge impact on the lives of real people. www.brunelforpeople.com.au

23.01.2022 #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe NAIDOC WEEK 8-15 November 2020: The origins of NAIDOC Week can be traced back to the Aboriginal rights movement. On Australia Day 1938, protestors marched through Sydney against the status and treatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians. This protest was one of the first major civil rights gatherings in the world and it became known as the Day of Mourning. Between 1940 and 1955 the Day of Mourning was held annually on the Sunday bef...ore Australia Day and was commonly known as Aborigines Day. In 1955 it was decided that Aborigines Day should include a celebration of Aboriginal culture, heritage and achievement. This is now celebrated as NAIDOC Week, which highlights the achievements of Indigenous people all over Australia. NAIDOC Week is a great time for Australians of all different ethnic backgrounds to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. National NAIDOC #NAIDOC #Brunel #BrunelAustralasia

18.01.2022 Brunel’s own Ron Waters-Marsh (centre) with Soa Palelei (right) and some of the Byerwen crew. I’m a big fan of Soa and what he stands for. When he speaks, people listen - I’ve seen him hold a full room of tough miners in dead silent awe. The man knows what he’s talking about and is a genuinely great guy. If you haven’t had the chance to see him speak before, I’d definitely recommend sitting in for the upcoming mental health presentation. Ron Waters-Marsh Brunel is hosting... a special live online presentation by Aussie MMA legend and mental health advocate Soa ‘The Hulk’ Palelei on Friday 29 May 10am AWST/12noon AEST. Register to attend this free event at the link below. https://lnkd.in/d4GVUgN

18.01.2022 Social distancing, defined as measures taken to reduce physical contact, is the first line of defence for containing an infectious disease like COVID-19. That’s because these infections spread when people cough, sneeze or touch surfaces on which the virus resides. This infographic demonstrates the impact that social distancing can have on reducing transmission rates.

18.01.2022 Querida Swinnerton our Sales Enablement General Manager and a champion for Diversity, Inclusion and disABILITY Advocacy, recently wrote on the impact of COVID-19 and Autism Awareness Month. As we navigate through what is unprecedented times, we are all affected by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. We are working from home, some of us have loved ones who have lost their jobs. It can be a pretty lonely and isolating time. Today marks the start of World Autism Awareness month and ...it hit home to me, that this is what people with autism potentially face all the time. The feeling of not belonging, of not having a job because they are different, and missing that sense of purpose that community and work can give us all. Last night, in my house, we started Autism Awareness month with a daily story about autism. My Friend with Autism by Beverley Bishop was last night’s pick. There are some great resources out there and below is a blog article I wrote a couple of years ago that I also thought I’d share - Querida Swinnerton. https://lnkd.in/g5CNT6k

17.01.2022 We would like to share a very personal story from our very own Trina Kedea and her family. This photo and quote from her mother in law is very special for comm...emorate ANZAC day. "This photo is of my father Maraki Rau during the WW2. He was a Fuzzy Wuzzy Angel. Here he is carrying a wounded Australian up the tough terrains of the mighty Kokoda. I'm so proud of my father who makes it look effortless and even with a smile. We my family are here today because of their sacrifice." Naomi Maraki Kedea (Daughter) See more

17.01.2022 Some great aerial shots from the Proserpine Prawn Farm our team is currently working on. Intended to be a sustainable prawn aquaculture hub, the project consists of 400 hectares of ponds. When fully operational the site is expected to produce 20,000 tonnes per year. Situated on the Gregory River, in the beautiful Whitsundays and only a stone’s throw from Hideaway Bay and Dingo Beach, between Airlie Beach and Bowen, only about 5-10 kilometres from the ocean.

15.01.2022 Querida Swinnerton is Brunel Australasia's General Manager - Sales Enablement, a passionate diversity and inclusion advocate, and the mother of a beautiful young girl Summer (pictured left) who has autism. 10.01.2022 A few pre-event thoughts on 2020's belated NAIDOC Week celebrations: NAIDOC is an important opportunity for Australians from all walks of life to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The 2020 theme Always Was, Always Will Be is a poignant reminder of how deep and rich the cultures of Australia’s First Nations People are, as well as their continuing connection to its land. Spanning hundreds of generations and o...ver 65,000 years, the history of the oldest continuing cultures on our planet are something we can all learn and benefit from. We hope that you join us in learning, engaging and celebrating Australia’s first inhabitants this coming NAIDOC Week. www.naidoc.org.au/about/history #NAIDOC #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #Brunel #BrunelAustralasia

01.01.2022 We were recently privileged to host a live webinar by former MMA champion and mental health advocate Soa "The Hulk" Palelei. Drawing upon his own confronting yet inspirational journey, Soa’s message about looking after yourself and those around you, and what true strength really looks like, was both refreshing and courageous. Tough as nails but not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve, Soa is the perfect role model for anyone who feels they can’t let others know what they are going through.
