22.01.2022 Lots of dogs roaming around off leash and out of the designated areas at the moment around the bruns surf club and into the reserve. I feel for all the birds, wallabies, echidnas, goannas I used to see....
21.01.2022 Just dropping the kids off at school! Local photographer Paul Thomsen captured this beautiful moment of a male comb-crested jacana with his chicks at Yellow W...aters Billabong in Kakadu National Park. The comb-crested jacana is an Australian native waterbird and can be spotted around Top End wetlands. They're also known as lotus birds or Jesus birds for their ability to seemingly walk on water. Male jacanas are like stay-at-home dads, as the mother disappears after laying the eggs, leaving him to look after the chicks. When the father senses danger he will bundle his chicks up in his wings to carry them to safety. A reminder of our amazing native wildlife!

19.01.2022 We don't need this damn Dam! There are other viable alternatives we can pursue with a smidgen of intelligence! We don't need massive centralized water systems that destroy and displace to supply unsustainable urban sprawl. Water conservation, decentralised systems are the go.......! Please make a submission before tomorrow- the 9th September- doesn't have to be a peer reviewed scientific document, can be a few sentences expressing your concerns.
18.01.2022 We were told that we would see America come and go. In a sense America is dying, from within, because they forgot the instructions of how to live on earth. It'...s the Hopi belief, it's our belief, that if you are not spiritually connected to the earth, and understand the spiritual reality of how to live on earth, it's likely that you will not make it. Everything is spiritual, everything has a spirit, everything was brought here by the creator, the one creator. Some people call him God, some people call him Buddha, some people call him Allah, some people call him other names. We call him Tunkaschila... Grandfather. We are here on earth only a few winters, then we go to the spirit world. The spirit world is more real than most of us believe. The spirit world is everything. Over 95% of our body is water. In order to stay healthy you've got to drink good water. ... Water is sacred, air is sacred. Our DNA is made out of the same DNA as the tree, the tree breaths what we exhale, we need what the tree exhales. So we have a common destiny with the tree. We are all from the earth, and when earth, the water, the atmosphere is corrupted, then it will create its own reaction. The mother is reacting. In the Hopi prophecy they say the storms and floods will become greater. To me it's not a negative thing to know that there will be great changes. It's not negative, it's evolution. When you look at it as evolution, it's time, nothing stays the same. You should learn how to plant something. That is the first connection. You should treat all things as spirit, realize that we are one family. It's never something like the end. Its like life, there is no end to life. -Floyd Red Crow Westerman

07.01.2022 What would my Mom think of that?" In a race, (see picture), athlete Abel Mutai representing Kenya, was just a few feet from the finish line, but he was confused... with the signage & stopped thinking he had completed the race. The Spanish athlete, Ivan Fernandez was right behind him & realizing what was happening, he started shouting at the Kenyan for him to continue running; but Mutai didn't know Spanish didn't understand. Then the Spanish pushed him to victory. A journalist asked Ivan, "Why did you do that?" Ivan replied, "My dream is that someday we can have a kind of community life". The journalist insisted "But why did you let the Kenyan win?" Ivan replied, "I didn't let him win, he was going to win". The journalist insisted again, "But you could have won!" Ivan looked at him & replied, "But what would be the merit of my victory? What would be the honour of that medal? What would my Mom think of that?" Values are transmitted from generation to generation. What values are we teaching our children? Let us not teach our kids the wrong ways & means to WIN #Ethics #Honesty https://youtu.be/HYqcqzSVH60
