06.01.2022 Most of us are practicing self isolation & missing the company of our ladies bowling family along with other simple things in life we have become accustomed too. Many have seen posts on here re Broomriders. Well let me explain how that came about.. Several months back a few of our new bowlers were competing in the singles comp at Condong. Blossom, myself, Rosa & or Sherril went up to watch & support. Walking thru..Mary Chisolms (onya Ma) hubby commented when seeing us ........ Here are the.....Brunswick Heads Broom Riders. We cracked up, the new players loved it..& the name has stuck. It may seem disrespectful to many of the old bowlers, (not intended)they may not understand..but to many of us, it shows that there is more to a club than the win when it comes to bowls. It shows comrademanship, being there for each other, supporting each other, win or lose. Friendship & not taking each other too seriously. See more
06.01.2022 Well, 3rd trip to Kingscliff to compete in the District Open 4s. (After 2 days of rain cancellations). Feelings this morn on way up were a bit over this. We played against Kingscliff. The day was clear & the game was played, our spirits lifted & we took off with a good lead. The wind was horrific & the green surprisingly running well. Narrow was really narrow..wide was nearly on the next rink. Kingscliff caught up & scored a 7 on one end . We had the bowls there but they... took us off. We sat on the score of 8 for about 6 ends (the cats & birds werent working). The score at one point was 20 Kingscliff - 10 Brunswick...The broom riders fought back...the final score was Kingscliff 21 to Brunswick 18. They won by 3 points. We are very happy that we only went down by 3 (after giving them a 7) considering it was their home green. At home sitting in my recliner, feeding my face with sour cream & onion chips writing this....I am content..we did well. Pennants commences on Tuesday at our Club..and guess who we play 1st off.. See more
03.01.2022 Great day watching the Senior and Open Pairs today at Brunswick Heads Bowls Club. Good luck tomorrow Kerry Dexter and Sherril Pearce.
03.01.2022 Whilst a few (most) of our lovely ladies have been turning up for Roll Ups on a Tuesday.. *Please note* ..the ladies club is NOT up & happening yet! We all anxiously await to hear from WBNSW as to when we can start functioning as a club again. This means we can not plan anything as club members. Any get togethers are to be done as individuals (at own expense not clubs)....& social distancing should be kept in mind.
02.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR. Ladies Bowls will recommence for 2020 on Tuesday the 14th January following a General Meeting at 9:00am. Sign on for meeting from 8:30am.
