22.01.2022 WHY IS THERE A SHORTAGE OF VENTOLIN AND ASMOL INHALERS and other medications too? I'd like to let you know what is going on from behind the pharmacy counter regarding the Ventolin / Asmol situation. We are struggling to get stock from wholesalers, and this has been the situation for a couple of weeks now. Our wholesaler’s stocks are depleted. Metropolitan and rural pharmacies in country towns across Australia are all in the same boat and as it is out of our control we have m...issed out and you, our customers and patients miss out as a result. In addition there has been indiscriminate buying by persons who are not asthmatic and see this as an opportunity to make money by on selling. In WA it is a legal requirement to keep medicines like children's Panadol, children's Nurofen as well as Ventolin and Asmol behind the counter in order to ensure appropriate use and to prevent stockpiling. In NSW and other states these medicines are kept in the general shop and therefore not as closely monitored as in WA. The government is aware of the situation and this week placed a requirement on pharmacies to limit the sale of Ventolin and Asmol to one per bona fide customer. We have to be satisfied the Ventolin or Asmol is for an asthmatic patient and not someone going from pharmacy to pharmacy stockpiling. Similar requirements apply to children's Panadol, which is now widely unavailable. Our wholesalers have now placed a limit on how many inhalers they will supply at one time in order to be fair to all and to distribute the inhalers to as many pharmacies as possible. I hope this gives you a clearer picture at what is a very frustrating time for you and for us. So far in 2020 we have seen the very best of Australian mate ship and character through the devastating bushfire season. Sadly now I think we are seeing some of the very worst. Please be patient and courteous to our wonderful teams who are working above and beyond to help out as many customers as we can. Please do not panic buy as it will just make the current situation worse. Be assured that we are doing our best in this ever-changing environment and using our best endeavours to always look after you and your needs. Regards Rob and the teams at Terry White Chemmart Australind, Healthsave Treendale Pharmacy and Brunswick Family Pharmacy.

20.01.2022 Retail pharmacies do not shut down. Retail pharmacists and pharmacy assistants are the most accessible & frequently visited healthcare professionals. Many of us will be utilized to either help with testing patients or administering a vaccine if & when it becomes available. We all know that we will be exposed to the coronavirus, if we haven’t already. Many of us are caregivers to our children or other family members, so we are committed to protecting ourselves & our patients & minimizing the spread of this virus. As we are all in this together, please treat our staff like humans, we are worried, we are scared, but we still show up to work with a smile on our face to keep you reassured. It is sad I have to post this, but it has become necessary.

16.01.2022 Are you wondering if you should stay home to avoid the spread of viruses? Personal hygiene is an important protection against respiratory illnesses this includes washing hands regularly, and coughing or sneezing into a tissue or your elbow. #yourlocalpharmacy #community #hygiene

12.01.2022 A note regarding Ventolin and Asmol inhalers. At this point in time we have no inhalers in stock. This is a note on how supply will occur once stock begins to trickle in ... Many customers have left their names on our waiting list for Ventolin and Asmol inhalers due to the critical shortage in Australia. The rules regarding the over-the-counter supply of these inhalers has changed in the last week, The Health Department has introduced regulations effective immediately that Ventolin and Asmol may only be supplied for use by a person with asthma. Proof must be supplied before we can sell the inhalers. Acceptable proof includes: A previous prescription history at this pharmacy indicating asthma medication has been obtained before or An Asthma Plan from a GP or A previous labelled asthma medication or a prescription for other asthma medication eg; Seretide, Flixotide etc. Once these requirements are met we will provide the Ventolin or Asmol labelled with the user's name.
