24.01.2022 Beautiful winters day

24.01.2022 WOW... 'out of this world' bioluminescence last night on Bruny Island, coupled with crystal clear skies, stars shining brightly and even added air flow. Thanks ...to Kelli Miller from Redlan Designs for sharing an amazing experience. Kelli says: "When life throws you constant joy I say embrace it Last night a friend and I went on the chase after an earlier sighting of bio on Bruny... and off we went It was really easy to spot the bio as there was a thick plume along the rocks. Once we got to the beach you could see the bio in the waves and the sun hadn't even set yet. We stood in awe for what seemed like a lifetime or ten... watching and gasping giving thanks for such wonderment. Love where you live." https://www.redlandesigns.com.au/ Want to know more about this spectacular phenomenon? Here is an excellent article all about the amazing bioluminscence thanks to Fiona Gumboots Walsh... would you believe the bioluminscence takes the form of a red tide during the day! http://thegumbootchronicles.com/red-tide-that-is-blue/

05.01.2022 Bruny Island tourism icon, The Neck, has reopened following a major redevelopment and improvement to the visitor facilities at the popular site. The new walkway... and platforms provide improved access and bird viewing opportunities for mobility-impaired visitors and families with prams. The staircase to the Truganini Lookout has also been re-built, to better preserve access to this much-loved site. These upgrades will ensure locals and visitors can continue to enjoy one of Bruny Island’s key attractions while better protecting the site’s active short-tailed shearwater and little penguin colony. The Parks and Wildlife Service worked closely with BirdLife Tasmania and local contractors Mountain Trails and Cordwell Built to minimise disturbance to native wildlife throughout the construction process. James w...on an award in the prestigious David Malin Awards for Australian Astrophotography for his time lapse nightscapes at Cape Bruny Lighthouse, and this image was shortlisted for the Insight Astronomy Photographer of the Year by the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. The heritage listed 1836 Bruny Lighthouse towers 114m over dramatic cliff tops and coves that form the rugged Tasmanian coastline of Cape Bruny. John Lee Archer, the famous architect that designed many well-known structures around the world was well ahead of his time and the iconic lighthouse he designed still stands proud today. Cape Bruny Lighthouse is the only lighthouse in southern Tasmania opened to the public and tours are operated by Bruny Island Safaris. Towering above the spectacular rugged coastline on the southern tip of Bruny Island with sweeping views of the wild southern ocean. You can experience regular sightings of migrating whales, Albatross, Gannets and many other pelagic species gliding over the ocean swells. There is even the chance a Wedge Tailed Eagle will glide so close to the tower you can almost touch it We love to share your Tassie videos, photos and stories with the world You can inbox us or post to our wall.
