While numbers remain low or non-existent in regional and rural areas, these measures are about guarding this position. Before we get into the new mandatory face covering rules that are coming in, please take note of the following: If you are sick, have symptoms or awaiting a test result - YOU MUST STAY HOME. DO NOT GO TO WORK. DO NOT GO SHOPPING! Supports exist for people those who do not have sick leave. Introduction of face coverings in Regional Victoria: Face Coverings (such as masks) will become mandatory for all of Victoria as of midnight Sunday 2 August. ALL Victorians when out of their home must wear a face covering, or carry one while exercising. Some key points are: * If you have visitors in your home, you must wear a face covering. * Employers must ensure all staff are wearing a face covering while at work. * Children under the age of 12 do not need to wear a mask. * Children under the age of two MUST NOT wear a mask. What constitutes a face covering? While the gold standard face covering is three layers, but any face covering is acceptable and will provide a level of protection. Coverings can include: disposable masks, hand-made reusable masks, scarf, bandanna, handkerchief, sock mask (see post below on how to make one). What are the exemptions? Strenuous exercise such as running (see FAQ below), children under the age of 12, people with existing medical conditions including problems with breathing, serious medical condition of the face, disability that impacts ability to breath, when proving your identity, teachers and journalists, persons who are deaf, professional sports people. If you enter a bank, post office or anywhere where you need to prove your identity (eg purchase of cigarettes or alcohol), you may be asked to remove a face covering to prove your identity. Those without a lawful reason not to wear a face covering should be reported to Victoria Police. Can I be refused service if I do not wear a mask or face covering? Yes. Unless you have a lawful exemption, a business owner can refuse entry to their establishment. Do I need to wear a face covering when travelling in a car? If you are alone in your car or with members of your household, you are not required to wear a face covering. If you are travelling in a care with people from outside your household, such as work, you must wear a covering. What is the penalty if I refuse to wear a face covering? For those not wearing a face covering without a lawful reason you will be fined. Businesses will not be penalised, individuals will be fined $200. Imagine Christmas week but EVERY DAY This is a temporary measure to ensure the safety of our staff. Tuesday-Friday remain as normal. And PLEASE, if possible, PLEASE wait until you get your parcel collection CARD to collect your parcel. The electronic notification that your parcel has arrived DOES NOT mean it is ready for collection, it has to be scanned at least twice, but you get notified at the first scan.
