20.01.2022 Nestled in the place right between the keel fish and a shortboard is this custom 5’4 performance twin fin fish for Erik. A great choice if you’re tired of the shortboard struggle, need some paddle and flow, but don’t want to move too far off the performance aspects. 5’4 19 1/2 2 3/8 Lemon yellow deck insert, Volan bottom and rails with handmade yellow fins. #beautiful #handmade #custom #twinfin #surfboard #fish #twinny #style #unique #lemonyellow #colour #quality #craftsmanship #handmade #starttofinish #shape #glass #fins #artisan #made #bespoke #artist #bryanbates #byronbay #shapeandglassbybryanbates @ Bryan Bates Surfboards

17.01.2022 Nose concave or roll up front? Both work great for different things. A concave whether it’s blended or defined in the nose of your longboard will help support you when you’re getting right on the tip of the board. It directs the water underneath where your standing which creates lift. It also can lock in and create a bit of a tracking effect. Roll has the effect of displacing water and fits the curve of the wave, feeling buttery and steerable. For boards with a bit more nose ...rocker a concave can help lead the water in under the board and improve paddling. For flatter entry boards a roll can help keep the nose from catching and improve control. This 9’10 #noserider for Markus has a defined spoon concave. It has a subtle smooth rocker up front and a late flip in the tail. Soft, fine eggy rails engage with the wave face to create hold and an edge under the tuck of the rail frees the board up to change direction and feel fast over the water. #cream pigment top and bottom with handmade red fin and leggie bridge. 15.01.2022 Doors are open and I’ve got a big sale on in the showroom today! $400 off old logo stock. Come in and find a great deal on one of my beautiful handmade boards.

08.01.2022 It was a great honour to participate again shaping a board in the Vissla Shapers Shack at the WSL contest in Marly. Following my stint in the bay shaping a 7’6 Wing model I got the chance to speak with David Lee Scales on his excellent Surf Splendour podcast. The result is linked below. Please have a listen and let me know what you think! https://surfsplendorpodcast.com/008-the-shaper-shack-part-/
