22.01.2022 When class finishes on Saturday, we get our own training time. I love messing around with @jagger_the_malinois His training had stalled due to 2020 not being so kind to my family but now we are back at it and picking up where we left off. #heeling #focus #dogeducationcentre

21.01.2022 Promised my husband I wouldn’t share this, but I had my so it didn’t really count Paddle boarding with the dogs is one of our favourite things to do in summer What do you do with your dogs for fun?

17.01.2022 Did you know that dog training isn’t my only qualification? I’m also certified in canine fitness and conditioning and hold a business qualification. I’ve also just enrolled in a canine nutrition course. ... When the world isn’t at a stand still with Covid I try to attend at least two training/behaviour seminars a year and seek further training from other industry experts also. My staff are also continuously learning and seeking new skills depending on their area of interest (there are 10 of us so that’s a lot of learning!). At the @dogeducationcentre we are constantly striving to give your dogs better. The more we learn, the more we can share with you all and ultimately, the more dog’s we get to help. So excuse me if it gets a little quieter online, I’ll just be over here gaining some more knowledge to help you all with your doggos. #learnbetterdobetter #dogeducationcentre #welovedogs

16.01.2022 Want your pets to repeat more of the good behaviour they are offering? R E W A R D T H E M Every time your dog sits instead of jumping- Reward them.... Every time your dog doesn’t rush out the door- Reward them Every time your dog looks at you while on lead and doesn’t pull- reward them Go one step better and start helping them make the good choices before they have a chance to annoy you. It’s easy to pop your dogs daily quota of food into a treat pouch and reward them throughout the day for all the good things they are doing. This way, your dog gets fed and you are encouraging behaviour that you like. Stop waiting for your dog to mess up and then correct them. Start being proactive and show them how to win. Keep that relationship positive as much as possible! Remember that changing a behaviour patter takes time so have patience. In the video below, you see our ladies following Pete after he called them. We taught them a simple recall with their dinner and now they sprint their little chicken legs off when we call them over. We have one particularly clumsy chook who runs so hard she trips up all the time Anyway, get those treat pouches on and start showing your dog how to live it’s best life with you #learnbetterdobetter #dogeducationcentre #beyourdogshero

15.01.2022 Are you an owner who’s been told by your vet that your dog needs medication after behaving inappropriately in a consult? Are you a vet who advises medication for behaviour cases in your clinic? This is a podcast episode for you ... The education needs to get better around this. Anyone that knows me, knows my stance on passing meds out like tic tacs for lower level or contextual anxiety. Medication doesn’t train a dog. Let’s do better for our dogs. https://open.spotify.com/episode/4wHeGeroOriGmfix0WBA5q

12.01.2022 OLD DOGS It’s super important to pay attention to your dogs they get older to notice any shifts in both their health and/or behaviour. This is my girl Missy. She’s 13 in December and recently I’ve been noticing her behaviour and health start to slide.... I’ve found her looking a bit lost in our back yard, she blew off her recall to trot down a path, hind end weakness, getting overly needy etc. She had a full health check at Dr Jana's Pet Hub - Veterinary Clinic and now she’s on a program from me to help build her rear end strength and rebuild some of her coordination and mental clarity. This is a dog who’s obedience has been spot on for years. She’s had free run of most activities that we do because I could trust her implicitly. She is now back to on-leash walks only. Not because she’s naughty but because her mind is deteriorating I now need to make choices that keep her safe. If you’re noticing your dogs behaviour or health deteriorating and they are older, please make sure you get a health check from your vet and behaviour and training advice from your trainer. There are things you can do to help them live a longer, happier and safer life

09.01.2022 Some dogs can just reduce me to a ball of childish squeals and This is one of them His name is Archie and he’s the shop dog at Essential Ingredient on Dean st in Albury. He’s a little ball of feisty energy and I’m obsessed! ... Just another reason to shop at this great local store

06.01.2022 Meet Ollie If you need an excuse to get fit, head on down to Lonedog, get some exercise in and hang out with this cutie! This puppy is divine! So sweet and so soft and is already developing a fabulous bond with his owner. ... Expect some Ollie spam as we will be working together for a few months.

05.01.2022 Meet Ziggy the school dog. He works at St Michael’s Primary School in Tallangatta. This little guy is built for the job. So calm and placid and adores the kids. He also does this cool thing where he squints, lifts his lips and does the sweetest little grin. I fell for him on the spot ... #schooldogs #dogeducationcentre
