22.01.2022 On this Saturday still a few places left

21.01.2022 This really made me laugh that science has only just discovered this. We have known of this fact for a very long time & use it to great advantage. Weeds that grow alongside plants do NOT rob the soil of nutrients required by the plant but Benefit that plant by providing nutrients via mycorrhizae fungi. Weeds grow to serve a purpose they are not to be waged war on as the propaganda has you believe.

20.01.2022 No till or non disturbance of soils. A simple experiment shows why.

18.01.2022 It’s an eat and be eaten world down there.

17.01.2022 You can't hear it, but trees actually are speaking to one another.

17.01.2022 The human gut biome has to come from somewhere. The soil is the logical place as it, with the aid of soil microbes, also digests nutrients and organic matter. ... This complex of beneficial microbes is, along with nutrients, passed on as an inoculant from soil to plants, animals and people - and holistically returned to the soil as composts. So why armed with this knowledge is soil life being allowed to be killed off? Especially as it is also the mechanism to sequester carbon! See more

17.01.2022 Our next workshop and open farm day.

16.01.2022 This is the refractometer meter readings for fruit and vegetables. It’s called a Brix level. Anything above 12% ( which is what mast growers aim for) creates insect resistance in plants. At this stage plants are taking in a wider range of nutrients from the soil foodweb. Thus creating long chain proteins that insects cannot process. The meter reads from 0% being rain water to 32% which they thought could not be reached. We reached 32% seven years ago and now sit somewhere over this now.

16.01.2022 With Biodynamics we grow soil. It’s the soils job to grow plants. Compost, Compost, Compost

14.01.2022 Am seeing more and more farms adopting this method. Mob stocking followed by chicken tractors improve pastures dramatically. By the time a full rotation is done the cows keep moving into belly high thick pastures.

12.01.2022 Compost, Compost, Compost. The most important element in any garden.

11.01.2022 Got some bee work to do tomorrow. Time to check all the European Bee hives and maybe harvest some honey. The QLD bluegums have just finished flowering and all the tallowwoods are now in full flower.
